  1. The 1/25 scale is the working prototype. The Russians have had such a string of scientific and industrial advances that they no longer need full size vehicles. The reduced profiles make them very stealthy.
  2. This really is my one pet peeve in an otherwise excellent game. It drives me crazy when I can't get my Javelin crews to take a knee and take a shot.
  3. If you could just fold "Whose Turn is it" or "CMH" into the game it would probably increase the multiplayer community substantially. It is about reducing the size of the hurdle to get it to work the first time. It certainly seems like small resource improvement.
  4. I was afraid that was going to be the answer. You have to restart your slog up the greasy pole, just to improve our gaming experience of course.
  5. That depends almost entirely on your access to the Pentagon's checkbook.
  6. Any comment you would car to give on Black Sea's sales? At least a better, worse, or about at expectations? Your sounding either rich or burnt out.
  7. We do need to make it VERY clear that any move on any NATO country means war, period. As a game matter, having this war at the Polish-Ukranian border instead of on the Dnieper make very little difference other than terrain specifics.
  8. The Israelis lost a lot of aircraft attacking the Syrians. But even in a situation of massive technological surprise the Arab air forces played almost no offensive role. A leap in SAM tech might make your own forces a lot safer. Its not going to do much for your strike aircraft over the other guys territory.
  9. Just to reiterate, against APS equipped Russian tanks, you have 120 mm APDS, Javelin, or nothing. TOW counts as nothing.
  10. Its a question of resource allocation. Is the best use of the Armies limited budget 1) An ATGM that will beat all current and next gen APS 2) A raven sized drone that can survive in a high threat environment, or some equivalent capability. 3) A better APS system for our own vehicles 4) Attempt to do the Air-Forces job. Please submit your ordered list of priorities.
  11. The scenarios postulated in this game constitute a real shooting war. My definition of that is very simple, is one little mistake going to result in ten or 15 very unpleasant letters to write.
  12. The big need going forward is something to swat small and medium drones. That needs to be pretty close to the front line. It would be nice if its ammo didn't cost 200 times the price of the drone you just killed with it, as well.
  13. My brave, dying Ukrainian bridge defenders would like to request immediate grid squaring, that would at kill some Russians too.
  14. Then you need a tank to mount the railgun. Sixty tons of persuasion is going to be around awhile.
  15. Oh please, Oh please let him screw it up. Imagine how much fun we can telling his broken, bleeding remnants to ATTACK!
  16. OSX 10.2, nvidia 750m. Do not have the problem. there seems to be a mac no/windows yes trend thus far. To state the bleeding obvious.
  17. There would seem to be a vast scope for both radar spoofing/jamming, and a HARM missile of some description. Just a nice little drone package to acquire the emitter coordinates and relay them straight to the available artillery would be nifty. All of these things are of course capable of being spoofed in turn. But a given battle, or even a shortish war such as the one postulated here could turn very sharply based on this kind of tech. The Ukrainian disadvantage in game, especially without MBTs on the board is crushing.
  18. The back and forth over the next ten or twenty years will certainly be fascinating. Spoofing the APS to detonate as the troops unload would be uhm awe inspiring, at least in C3ks world view. The U.S. did an ATGM that was a DU rod with a bloody great rocket attached. I recall reading it worked fine but was just too big to be practically man portable. Then they realized the Javelin was the guaranteed golden bb at least for a while, and let it drop. That idea may get a reboot.
  19. I don't think APS should be heavily restricted. It is the biggest change on the battlefield since ATGM, and the direct technological answer to them. You just have to keep the balance issues in mind. And I am playing a competent human not the AI. So when he realuzes he has the advantage things get severe rather quickly. For what its worth anyone who thinks troops cower to easily is playing a different game. These under equipped Ukrainian pixeltruppen have died in their positions with bloody hands on the triggers of their RPGs, I am sure they thought kindly of me with their last digital breadths.
  20. Its a hard AI problem. There are quite a few vehicles, various types of add on systems on those vehicles, and the angle of the shooter relative to the target. My personal impression is that ARENA will knock down TOW about half the time. I have not done a formal multi hundred shot test, but I am absolutely sure the number isn't zero. Against BMPs of any type 25mm seems very effective out to 1500 or 2000 meters, and is the better choice. From the front at a T-72, or T-90 with ARENA Tow is probably the better choice, but that is not saying its a good one. I have seen 25 mm kills at short range with side shots. If the TOW gets swatted you don't get so much as suppression. 25mm banging off the turret gets their attention and might break something. It would be nice to know how many of the categories the AI can even distinguish or work with? If was running the tank/IFV program I would be moving heaven, earth and bureaucrats(the hard part) to replace the TOW with either Javelins or Hellfires. One is fire and forget and mostly dodges current opfor APS. The other can be remotely designated, which trick needs to get in the game by the way, also has a diving attack profile, and LONG range to make use of that remote designation trick. I am sure the Army is trying to wait for the Joint Common Missile, but there might be a war between now and 2030. Both missiles are already in the supply chain, which is a huge portion of the expense.
  21. A sense of humor is an absolute necessity for a serious CM habit.
  22. You learn to filter the rugrat noise after a while, or go mad. Nice wireless headphone help. My wife would argue the two choices are not mutually exclusive.
  23. Do you have any idea how many hundreds of discussion THREADS, many multi page ones, there were about turning it up?! Post after, post about insufficient suppression from machine guns, and on, and on. Glad to see nothing has changed, the board is never happy.
  24. You are a sick B!%&&$@@^, in all the right ways!.
