  1. It falls in the middle. There is a unique feel to the game. yes the AT weapons have some of the late war feel, but there is also more limitations. There is some things that have more of a WWII feel in things like tanks taking time to fire and having to make more than one shot to get range. You will find it is its own beast as to how it plays and the match up between forces are much more even in many aspects than other periods.
  2. I also agree with Erwin on all above comments. Its better to just learn to do it manually, and in truth I can do it most times without even checking, Just eye ball where I thick hull down is. and no there is no method of getting full hull down, many times it will be partial. What you hope for is using the Hunt command as you move to the location and that the AI spots in its cycle at the right moment and stops in a full hull down position. And in truth, the player should not have more control and guarantee full hull down anyway. Way to much micro management wanted. Think about it , you think they can get a real tank in perfect hull down positions while in combat all the time. NOOOOO Yessssss, if they are pre set waiting for the enemy. two totally different things. So pre set ambush locations is were it suffers at times.
  3. The good news, for some you have been waiting years, now your wait is down to days. Hang in there.
  4. I have mentioned for years, I think a better approach would be to just have 3 scenarios. One for blue, one for red and one for H2H, and in truth you could also make one for hard challenge and one that is easier. Trying to do them all in one makes its hard, you really only make it right for one as to being balanced in the sweet spot and that is verse the AI
  5. Its nice the some clubs keep this type of data, but it will likely stay at such a source. I am running a Tournament right now, that the players are going H2H with scenarios I have thrown together. Now my goal is always to get a balanced scoring system for both sides , but it seldom happens. Because I have learned that the two players facing each other will affect the score much more than my tweaking of the score as to what the finial results will be in most battles. Now after I see the results from 15 battles, yes it is easy to adjust the scoring to make half of those battles show winning scores from those result, and that is really about the best way to do it. I am afraid that the scenarios in testing do not get that amount of play throughs to do that balancing. but with what is tested, adjustments are made to try and make them balanced.
  6. Well, that comment goes back to the original post to some extent. And American forces are very prone to do just that. They presently have the ability to send in troops, spot a target and instead of going in and having to eliminate with ground forces. they just use a high tech toy to remove the target. And if that option is on the table, who wouldn't do that , especially if the other choice is risking ones own life. But it does come down to as conflicts increase in size, what weapons will be allowed for what purposes. pricy weapons will become very important to save and use when the real needs arise. I play battles all the time where I will use Javelins as sniper weapons to take out important infantry ground targets that are key positions against me. Knowing full well, in real life, no one is going to put up with that for a very long time. it has happened, but its a rare occasion in general. as you said, there is much cheaper ways to get the job done.
  7. Good question, What is a real war anymore. It has become such a detached thing for powerful nations. For the poor people that are living in locations where the fighting is happening, its all very real presently. But its only for one side that the effects are really felt. But at some point in the future, the powerful nations will turn on each other as they seem to always do, and when that day happens, both sides will feel the affects and you might not be able to sit at home and feel safe by seeing some news clips on that large TV while sipping a cold one. When your own country becomes a target and the nations people suffer, then a war becomes real. How is that for a definition.
  8. Well, for those of you that like your long range duels, I will say, I have played at least 5 scenarios in the package, where long range engagements are a thing. But a few of them are not representing Germany land shape. So for sure, you will fill some of that need you all have for that type of fun. I wish I had the time to test all the stuff in these games, but as long as I have to work somewhere else to get a paycheck, it will never happen. But agree, verifying what the units in the game are actually doing is always a good thing. And yes once in awhile , one is found doing improper results
  9. And the most important thing of all. if you are a military force on the move. How often are you going to drive out in the open where you can be seen from locations at distances like 2500m if you are not sure the enemy is located out there. Yes long distance engagements can occur, but in general, events of the past have proven. most of the time engagements are closer than that due to many factors. including the simple fact that you want to allow the enemy to get within a certain range where you can engage and bring as much firepower as possible that can destroy them quickly if you think you have the advantage. So 1500 meters is more logical to test than 2500m if you are only going to run one test. Even playing the game against another person, how often does a long range duel happen, compared to shorter ranges. And even if a long range duel happens and I have the advantage, how easy is it for the enemy to disengage from the situation. Anyway, a real good test is more like 500,1000,1500,2000 and you can see if there is a preferred range that you should be engaging at. And when the game is in your hands you can go for it. I normally pick 1200m for a simple fact that I find that a common distance I have seen in many game engagements. Which has to do with map construction and nothing to do with real world aspects. Other than I will say, more and more maps are using real world locations to generate the maps I believe.
  10. ok, I was referring to a M60 A3 version before. So just to tease you with the forth coming game. I did a quick test of dueling tanks, pool table conditions at 1300 meters. T64A VS M60A1 (WITH NO EXTRAS) ALLOWED COMBAT FOR ONLY ONE MINUTE. Both tanks unbuttoned Results. T64a was the first to spot and fire 30 tanks tested. 11 - M60A1 losses 1 -T64A LOSS BILL WAS RIGHT IN THAT THE T64A IN THIS TEST ANYWAY WAS ABLE TO WITHSTAND MORE HITS THAN THE M60 AND THAT WAS A FACTOR FOR THE RESULT.
  11. Running test on the game I can inform you that there is very little spotting difference as to time between the units. Position and actions in the game are a bigger factor as to who spots first than the tank unit doing the spotting. The M60 does have a spotting advantage. And since most rounds on target will be kills from either side, the side that spots first has a huge advantage. If you place the units out on a pool table and have a duel. The M60 in the game has a overall advantage. But playing in battle conditions, I have found the parity to be closer than any other game period BF has produced.
  12. With the ability to take out military targets with precision weapons. Its very true in that there will not be production of much of any type of high end weaponry from that point on. As had already been said, pretty much its come as you are and its not going to last long. Makes one wonder if a side could strike first and could somehow catch the enemy by surprise. How huge of a advantage that might be. Some type of new technology that works at overrides the enemies existing methods, A initial strike to throw the numbers in their favor. There is not going to be a chance to build what you need after something big was to break out.
  13. My feeling exactly. The playtesting has made me rethink how best to use my armor assets once again. The training back in the day always taught that those that spotted and fired first would win the duel a large percentage of the time. In this game, this principle is very, very true. It has a feel all its own compared to the other CM games. But no question about it. In general, the forces are more evenly matched in most aspects.
  14. Actually, my neighbor I was telling you about, that is what he presently works on. So I am afraid to inform you that is not true, he spends a lot of time with the British working on them.
  15. Well, since china owns so much of the US, they don't want to hurt us too much, it would be bad for the economics of their own country. We really are getting to a place in this world as to how we are all linked together in many ways that we should be striving to become one in purpose instead of continuing to try to see each other as a enemy that we think we need to fight and kill. The only ones we need to worry about are those in charge, pretty much in every nation, its those in power that are the real enemy.
  16. This is the USA, My neighbor works building some of our top level weaponry. He informs me all the time as to what is going on. He has to fly all over the world to oversee some of the component that are being built. Its really scary to think this is smart
  17. That pretty much sums it up. He did forget to point out how many of the new High tech equipment is not even made within the borders of ones country. I am amazed of how much in our planes and ships we have other country's providing the materials that are being used and installed. Not a system that would hold up in a real conflict.
  18. CM has been a hidden gem and its good to see that finally, there is a way for more people to find it. But even looking at the new blood that are getting into the game, it sure is easy to see that it takes a certain type of person to even want to play these games. It sure is not something that appeals to the masses.
  19. Well, you are correct as long as those things are available. And yes, if you study recent conflicts against inferior forces that is a common way things are handled in present combat. But there will always be situations where the fighting will come down to infantry doing what infantry needs to do. So do not think those basic infantry tactics are a thing of the past, they are not. If any major conflict was to happen again, I always wonder how fast would the forces run out of a lot of high tech options and even just munitions. The stock piling and inventories of these type of things might not be as vast as one might think. The cost of doing war has changed that as to the numbers.
  20. Well, I will be more than happy to give you battle. And on top of it, you can select and pick whatever you like. I actually love playing Scenarios h2h, so if there is any that you have not played that you want to that would be great. I will play pretty much any format and I have all games, so whichever. The only battles I do not like is meeting engagements when its player purchase. (they bore me to death and are not very realistic) If interested, contact me in a message and we will set something up.
  21. The original data is good info. Its not like common sense lets you know most of the ones that matter. But its still nice to see a number as to which ones are enough to focus on during play.
  22. I figured out the problem, the only people that can be happy are the ones that really enjoy any period of time as to the wargaming periods provided. Because BF really does not have the ability to support the 6 different games they are presently marketing, to keep adding to each has created way to much time between when they can add on and make additions to any one. The interest is lost because of the big time gap. Only those players that can be content with each and every release until the next one seem to be somewhat content. If CMBS was the only game that mattered to you as a player, you would be in hell as to how long it takes to get a add on.
  23. just add these issues with all the other things that disappointed you in 2020
  24. Well the size of the battle does have a great impact on what type of tactics might be used. But it really comes down to the amount of troops in a given area as to how scouting and probes are to be used. But no matter what, scouting is a art in every battle, For most CM battles, it might not be sneaking through enemy lines, but I have found a few where I have done just that. For most, its more of being the lead point, finding out the hard way where the enemy is, being shot at and possible killed , to allow the main group to not be ambushed and to learn safely where enemy forces are located.
  25. What did you expect, he is Dutch, they say everything backwards. Oh, wait a second, I am 1/2 Dutch. So maybe I do also.
