  1. Not trying to be pedantic honest but being born in Scotland we are refereed to as "Scottish" or "Scots" ... i feel better now ... "Scotch" is a drink .... which we are quiet partial too (but we call it "Whisky" locally .. ("Can" open , worms everywhere )).
  2. Took me a while to get into CMSF , like 2 - 3 year later after release i was persuaded to patch up and buy a module. Dont care for the fictional conflict or the bland terrain but i can still appreciate the fine detail of the engine and now understand much more about how the game mechanics work. CMx2 engine is something special , honestly , cant always see that playing the game , sometimes take a bit of reading on this forum to see the light.
  3. Yeah i thought it would be this Firday , only have myself to blame though for reading any tiny detail i can find and reading the in-between the lines bit ... it will be here soon enough though , the following week or the one after aint that far away , just find something to keep you busy.
  4. dunno, have heard of such things but never seen one for real ...
  5. Right enough , the front page on the 20th April (Mac announcement) does say "Combat Mission: Battle for Normandy is scheduled for release within the next 14-21 days." IIRC BF suggested both PC and MAC version would be available at the same time. That would make it 4th of May @ the earliest ...... may the forth be with you I guess we can hope that was MAC only but i don't think that's the case from memory.
  6. i agree something is needed, doesnt need to be weapon icons just some indication of how big a unit was and is now.
  7. Tyrspawn , two things noticed from both video AARs to date is that you dont tend to use (1: cover arcs) Do you prefer to shoot on sight no matter what the distance ... i assume to slow down the advance ? I think i would probably have tried to HIDE until they were just a few meters prior to crossing then unleash everything into a pre-defined kill zone that had minimal cover .... for better or worse (2: hide when arty was falling in the first instance.) When the pre-bombardment started you didnt appear to HIDE , i.e again i would have stated out of sight as long as possible (understanding that relative spotting would have meant it was difficult to track the advance). Maybe your experience with the software means you know these tactics are not as effective as CMx1. What are your thoughts ? Thank you for any comments. Scott
  8. Agree the AI is as good as the scenarios designer. There are some very challenging missions for CMSF , im sure CMBN will be even better. I will probably get into 2 player (play by email) battles at some point , struggle to find the time at the moment and i find some of the rules human players seem to add for realism to CMAK at bit frustrating (im sure there are good reason i.e regarding realism etc) but for a novice like me its too daunting.
  9. A W E S O M E !!! thanks sooooo much , this is really keeping us going till the release !!! :):)
  10. http://www.battlefront.com/community/showthread.php?t=95935 welcome to the forum
  11. Ran a few tests in CMSF and it was easy to run past the rear end of a T-72 and i was lead to believe the optics of the 70s were much better than the 40s so im also surprised about the spotting capabilities of said shermans.
  12. thanks for posting , interesting , lets see how accurate its ... i guess in the grand scheme of things it doesn't really matter too much if its a few days before or after or even the start of May. It will be here soon enough ether way. PS welcome to the forum by the way
  13. Agree it was useful in CMAK , i probably should have put my argument in context. It was Weaponology series i was watched IIRC , suggested the PIAT was poor compared to the "American" designed bazooka .... US documentary though .... bias maybe
  14. Good question , i would hope so as its spring loaded .... maybe the hated PIAT has found a niche at last
  15. interesting point, still a lot of houses made of brick/stone though, cant see a 7.62 getting past that ...
  16. Cant shoot AT devices from buildings is going to take a whole lot of getting use too. Understand the decision if its not realistic but is going to change style of play a bit.
  17. hmmm , 22nd-29th week. pre-orders march 10th 6-8 weeks after pre-orders was the tag that makes it the 22nd - 29th.
  18. opps sorry, had looked at the link in the previous prior to screenshots going up last week. good to see the ammo icons have been replaced with the actual ammo values :) a big plus !!! awesome.
  19. http://www.puntadelanza.net/Foro/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?t=12001 sorry if posted already. just spotted this too: *** SPOILER ALERT *** http://www.puntadelanza.net/Foro/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?t=11994
  20. rules looks way to complicated and the process too time consuming for me sorry.
  21. I was trying to troubleshoot an issue with an Nvidia 8800 GT , tried everything , many articles suggested it was a specific Win7 ultimate 64bit issue (generic driver stop message IIRC , resorted to basic driver). So I tired Win7 pro and got same issue. Turned out to be the graphics card failure , purchased a Radeon 6950 and all was well again ... wanted to be sure i tried everything before throwing £300 an new card and psu. Tend to organise my gaming machine in such a way that its not a big issue to start from scratch ... just makes life easier for me if I get the new game and need to try everything to desperately get it working or run it optimally
  22. I think PayPal is also an option , i had to use this many moons ago (pardon the pun) prior to having a visa card. ps i'm not on commission honest ... was just a frustrated customer years ago struggling to get the payment process working too.
  23. thanks for the posts guys. I have no doubt its been modelled correctly to be honest, was just expected to see some drift from left to right from start to impact but always appears to be straight as can be. test 2 saw more shots required to kills, first test must have just been lucky. testing with all t72s had much different results indeed , in fact RED one Thanks for the unbuttoning tip , i was absolutely using ww2 logic here.
