  1. curious, what was the reason for stopping crews re-crewing guns if it work ok for tanks ?
  2. sound effects a loud as possible for me. on another note , the startup music in CMBN is fantastic , inspiring even. music in CMSF was aweful (but can be modded).
  3. Looks like i will be paying upwards of $100 too but in instalments ... first on the pre-order , second on the tax on collection i guess ... I must admit this was news to me too. When purchasing the subsequent modules will we have the same issue or will they be shipped (assembled) from the European warehouse ?
  4. 17th ish oh well would have put money on it being later this week.
  5. Sorry, quick hijacking of your thread Kolyanich. Re: (BAD-POOR-AVERAGE-GOOD-EXCELLENT) Just a quick point on the UI display , as a CMSF player i find it relatively difficult to figure out the + + etc... display indicators. Feel that numbering or a slightly larger icon space would help. I sure BF have spent many days/months making sure the method was intuitive so this is a difficult argument to win, i simply feel there are easier/quicker methods to display this information at a glance.
  6. Thanks for the reply Peter. Before posting i did a quick google image search for "french town ww2" , plenty of examples of kerbs/pavements. They maybe the exception mind you , i dont really know to be honest and BF have a history of avoiding the exception thats for sure IMO i do feel the realistic portrait of some villages or towns miss this aspect. On many maps designers tend to draw buildings with no fence or wall separations. In my experiences this is not the case. Hope that makes sense. Granted my visits to Normandy were in the last 10 - 20 years , things may have changed since then ... i guess the other point is that kerbs/pavements dont make a difference to game play so why spend the dev time.
  7. Agree is was a good may but have we seen pavements (sidewalks) at all with kerbs and cobbled streets ? Principle components of a realistic town / village in many (but not all cases). May be my imagination , always feel something is missing from village/town maps. Realistic maps IMO is an important point.
  8. agreed - earlier post re releasing prior to a weekend ... was joking about the 13th ... not very well it seems
  9. couple of F15s in CMSF with large payloads not that much different from the naval guns bth , still sounds great though
  10. wow the sound of the aircraft !!!! wow !!! ... just about to listen to the naval guns now
  11. Friday 13th ... i have given up guessing to be honest , hopeful for next week but then i though April too.
  12. eh , stuff like staff end up spending the weekend fixing bugs ? customer dont get the same level of service as all staff are not available / may have fixed commitments ? ... should always make sure applicable hands are available and have their desks clear prior to a code release IMO ... from experience
  13. big thanks for the update. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- FOR REFERENCE: ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Alpha - game is sorta playable, but extremely incomplete, unbalanced, and basically not ready to show anybody other than internal staff. Even screenshots are usually a bad idea. Beta - game is firming up, features are basically all in or at least clearly identified for near-term inclusion. Bugs, balancing, prettying, redoing, etc. happens here and that's why this is generally a very long stage. Final Candidate - this is ready for release in almost all ways, but not quite there yet. A few of these are necessary before it's ready to move onto the next stage. Gold Master - it's good to go barring any sort of installer, licensing, or other non-game related issue. It's unusual to get it right the first time, so there's several of these. In theory FC and GM only require a couple of days each, while Alpha and Beta are measured in years (for us anyway). Each FC or GM made requires usually a couple of days for testing without uncovering anything new. Obviously if something new is found then there's a new FC or GM released for testing, sometimes within minutes.GMs are tricker because it usually requires downloading the WHOLE THING. And at the size of CM:BN that itself takes many hours per tester. -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  14. I think this is the biggest release since the disastrous first release of CMSF (noting CMSF is a much better product 3 years later with patches and modules and it was the first use of the new CMx2 engine) ... maybe they are being extra specially careful this time to ensure the released product is as stable as can be. BF have noted in the past that the CMx2 engine is much more robust now and many of the CMSF issues would not reoccur in CMBN but i get the feeling caution is the overwhelming force in play at this time. Not a bad thing if we get a better product i guess. Ultra caution , they dont want to be stung and many CMx1 vets are returning , dont want to put them off on the first release as they may never get around to patching ... took me 3 years with CMSF , 3 years to realise it was a great game after purchasing on release and giving up.
  15. ... yip im sick of seeing that news too ... obviously waiting for some update news in its place (as opposed to being sick of Strat Cmd which has its place )
  16. Can add me to this list, i use a mouse and the camera movement keys and thats it. Just never really got comfortable with the CMSF layout. Mouse is good enough though.
  17. Really ? you all work from home ? What technologies do you use to work together remotely ? (IT guy taking an interest) i.e we use Subversion for source control over VPN + Skype for video meetings. GoToMeeting great for showing customers software remotely.
  18. ok so no game this week , that's cool. Potential for a demo soon though.
  19. Yip sorry you are right "It won't be this coming Friday" .... i had read that as " it wont be coming this friday" sorry my mistake , skim reading
  20. only sounds like that if you read it that way IMO If it was Monday and i said it wont be available Monday i would assume it was the Monday in question not next Monday. Honestly still confused. It doesn't matter honest , was simply trying to get some clarity.
  21. This has been confusing me all week. Steve posted the above on Saturday GMT Summer time 04-30-2011, 03:50 AM So that would have been Friday for him (and most of you state side). So when he said "this friday" he meant last friday as it was today (friday) for him at the time ? Therefore we could have a demo this Friday ?
  22. they are like Marmite , love or hate thing , no in-between.
