  1. I have knocked out a Tiger with direct hit on the top with American 155mm and immoblized a pair of closly spaced King Tigers with a 122mm Russian barrage. I've killed numerous lighter tanks/open topped vehicles with artillery before too. In a lot of scenarios its not a bad idea to throw arty at tanks becuase if are carrying riders so you might get a 2 for one deal. Damage (or if really lucky, kill) the tanks and tear up the infantry.
  2. Depending on how close and what they were equipped with, an AT team might be just as deadly at close range.
  3. Yes, thank you. Now umm...*looks emabarressed*....when I download a scenario...do I just put it into the scenario directory of the appropriate game and unzip it?
  4. Hmm...I just tried to register but when I got the email back with the link to confirm the registration it takes me to a dead link. I posted about it on the genral forums.
  5. I installed it and it was running...though for some reason I couldn't alt+tab out of the game any more.
  6. I play them several times a week...too chicken and Confused about how to get new scenarios and figure out how these 'mods' work/install. Oh...and I play a lot on a MMORPG called Anarchy Online so that eats up much of my gaming time.
  7. I always wanted to have to heavy artillery pieces for all sides available to simulate armor, recon, commando raids or whatever on rear area emplacements taking artillery batteries by suprise. Or, have prime movers positioned and such to try to load up and evacuate the artillery pieces maybe on a huge map while the opposite side tries to catch them...all sorts of things you could do besides the "open sights direct fire role".
  8. ...and for those interested in how the Germans did it: http://www.25panzergrendiv.com/main_folder/Organizational_Signs.html
  9. I played a QB a couple of days ago as Russians in mid 43. The Germans had 3 tigers and other vehihles. The tigers were impervious to everything I had....till one strayed next to a TH team. Bye bye tiger. Funny thing though, Tiger crew bailed out and killed the TH team.
  10. Wasn't the Piat spring propelled? http://www.canadiansoldiers.com/weapons/piat.htm
  11. First time I encountered them they scared me. I was like...WTF is going on! I backed my tank out in a hurry.
  12. This was one of the 1st I played after installing the game. My Nashorns got massacred. Maybe I try again soon.
  13. Basically....is very simple terms..this is some peoples defence line: ___________________________ A Layered Defence would be more like: ______ ------- _______ _______ _______ ______ ------- -------- You try tou make it s that if your enemy gets through your 1st stong points, he cant just flank you and run around behind your defenders and surround you.
  14. Maybe it was the "my penis is bigger than yours" syndrome *laff*? Sersiously though...the did the same thing with those huge seige guns they had. Impressive yes, but not very ecenomical.
  15. This thread inspired me to use some KV-2s in a QB last night. I picked them with regular crew just to toughen up their morale a bit (along with some BT-7s, Infantry company, and other assorted untis). The Germans had a mix of Crack/Veteran 38t(a), IVc, IIc and PSW 222 and some crack infanty. Within 2 turns after the AI Germans made contact, one of the KV-2's had it's gun damaged. Within 5 turns the other had its gun damaged and was imobilized quickly followed by the imobilization of the other. Both crews bailed out. Engagement range was 400-600M with the Germans firing mostly from the KV2 frontal arcs. The KV-2 accounted for a total of 3 German tanks/PSW222 and a few infantry.
  16. On related note, how about some female faces to represent rear area Russian troops or maybe later war German AA gunners? I *think* females were used quite frequently in such roles and could have been exposed to ground combat. Anyone have some sources on this?
  17. I use smoke quite a bit on offense but rarely defensivly. It's often much more effective than an HE FFE in achieveing your scenario goals when on the atack.
  18. Something I find a bit of an annoyance on QB maps is selecting a town/city battle but not having the roads laid out in any kind of logical fashion. Large buildings with no roads, roads that just start and dead end.
  19. Smoke....lots of it. It will keep you safe until you can get close enough to hurt the enemy. Also, get down in the weeds so to say. If you take a look from the ground at close magnification instead of the higher level slanted birds eye views, you may see gullys, small bumps in the terrain, dead zones ect, that you may not have noticed before. They can be invaluable to to protecting your forces.
  20. I don't think I would play anyone with rarity factors off myself. Not, that I've ever played against another person to begin with. Hmm...this thread went off topic a bit didn't it?
  21. http://www.100thww2.org/gerunit/17.html Looks like Jagdtigers were attached and it says in small print there was also 90 assualt guns....I would guess StuG's but it doesn't specify.
  22. This *might* be able to help. http://www.feldgrau.com/
  23. Those "small humps" in the ground in that one picture are called myo-ji (not sure on spelling). They are Korean ancesteral burial mounds.
  24. A direct hit by a large artillery shell on it's roof could still take it out I should think. A well placed hit from other weapons could still stip it's tracks. A large bomb dropped around or on it may destroy it. A land mine could still blow it's track off. Even if every round of ammo carried killed something...it would run out of ammo long before an Army, let alone a regiment was destroyed. Flamethrowers could still possibly get a kill on it. Getting hit by a number of panzerfausts, 88mm shells, and other shells would if not kill it, smash up it's sensors, perhaps damage the gun, rattle the crew, and of course, strip the tracks. So....no....1 tank no matter how good wouldn't mean ****.
  25. The 28mm ATG are reasonably effect against thin skin tanks but can be very pricey if available at all if you use normal rarity factors. I wouldn't reccomend them myself. 20mm Flak does wonders too on light armor. They sound neat too!
