I seem to recall with that engine you couldn't even enter buildings and infantry was basically useless? Was that fixed or do I have my games confused?

Hopefully it'll ship with patches for the old games for modern widescreen resolution support, a better way to change resolution, and Vista capable.

Only a moron would advocate parking a carrier battlegroup in those constricted waters even if you could get it through the narrow entry.

I want it...but hopefully it'll come with a patch to support higher resolutions/widescreen for all the other Combat Mission games. It's not as fun playing when everything is slightly squished looking.

As long as it runs on new computers/operating systems and nothing better comes along, I'll still play.

I hope you inform your opponents that you use this oddity in coding with button/unbutton. I would say "cheating" but it might be a bit much.

I never bought CMBO becuase it seemed a step backward. I started with CMBB. So, I might be interested if it could be brought up to CMAK standards.

Geesh, the OP could have been a bit more creative and explain why he/she did not like it. I held off buying becuase I seen there was no smoke, no on map mortars and no building entry (WTF???). They solve those things and I am so buying this game.

I was really looking forward to this game but I am glad I hel off on buying it. No smoke, cant enter building? No on map mortars? This game has the foundation from what I seen to be very good but it needs some polishing up for me on the realism first. The screen shots are very lovely though.

Just a guess, but I think Enigma was referring to learning about being a "good sport" and "how to win friends and influence people.

If you play human opponents you may find them never wanting to play quick battles if all you pick is super tanks with vet crews. Scenario may not give you the luxury of cherry picked units and you may be stuck with BTs and T26 and "heavies" with poor crews and low ammo.

With the paper thin armor on many of the early Russian tanks/tankettes/armoured cars, you'll definitly want to pay even closer attention to terrain. If you can, stay out of LOS till right on top of any German armor you'll have a better shot at killing it. Use buildings, trees, gullies whatever. Lot of early war scenarios seem to have you on the defensive anyway so it makes it more practicle to hide your armor for ambushes. Avoid any kind of long range duel with your tin cans, you'll almost certainly loose.

30 something - retired Air Force Played wargames since high school. One of my history teachers was a wargamer and brought some to class. Like Ceasar Alesia when we were studying the Roamans and Wooden Ships & Iron Men during the Revolution. He gave extra credit for actually playing the games so, decided why not? Liked the thinking and strategies. Been playing them on computers since C64 days.
