  1. "Hubert!"_I have to agree with you!,...'jon_j_rambo' is Ready to 'Rock & Roll-In_The-Mud!!!-The Blood!!!-& The Beer!!!'. I think maybey that i may have stirred up the 'Hornets Nest' a little?,...anyway it makes for exciting reading in any event!. A "JAPANESE" Invasion of the U.S. may very well have been preposterous!,...however,...maybey there is someone with more insight on this 'Subject/Possibility/Extrapolation?'...who just might have more insight on this matter???.
  2. Only a part of my original message was retained in my previous reply?... Anyway...to complete my original statement... Victory Condition's might be... #1. Conquest of the Hawaiin Islands_'Pearl-Harbour'. #2. Destruction of the American Fleet ...Whenever During The Game!. EG:...'Midway' was a possible situation for this event. The Destruction Of The Fleet Would Then Have Opened Up The Potential Situation For The Invasion Of the West-Coast [Pacific] Shore Line!.
  3. One or two victory condition's for Japan might be perhap's is for instance... The Conquest of the Hawaiin-Island's [>Pearl-Harbour] and, or even somewhere in the game,...the destruction of the U.S. Pacific-Fleet that the Japanese had hoped to achieve during the attack on 'Midway!'.
  4. Another Campaign That Could Be Created...Might Be The "Battle For TRUK!". A Secretive Japanese Fortress Island Group..."Essentially!"_That I Believe Was Built In Secrecy To Some Degree!. It was a "Bear" for the Allies to take it on!.
  5. Yes!...Does... "TORAH!...TORAH!...TORAH!"... Ring A Bell???.
  6. Seem's fair to me!!!,...'HEAVY-DOWNLOADERS' should pay "a/the" 'Frieght-Premium' & 'LIGHT-USERS' could/can download ~10MB/Month for FREE!. I have 'No-Complaint' with this concept!.
  7. I hope you are right 'Blashy!',...im hoping that i am so mezmerized by this 'New-Creation!',...so that it will take an effort to want to play anything else!. So-Far, this 'SC_SC2-Series' is not that too-far-off anyway from meeting that ambition!.
  8. 'What-If!',...by some chance the JAPANESE were successful at MIDWAY!,...would Pearl-Harbour and the West-Coast of the United-States have been possibly on the Menu Next?. I look forward, not to just the 'Historical Lineup' of the Pacific-War-Campaign,...but also to some 'What-If'_Hypothetical Studies...such as i just described up above!. This could also later include 'New Technological' advances by the Japanese in 'Jet Aircraft' as well as 'Specialized Constructions' such as the Submarine the Japanese were in the processes of constructing and proving...which was in effect a Submarine that could carry 3-Aircraft in it that could be launched anywhere in the world. A possible target could be the 'Panama-Canal' [Disrupt a Shipping Conduit to the Pacific used by the U.S. Navy] or 'New-York-City' [A reply/response for the Dolittle-Raid] or what-ever so as to demoralize their opponent and encourage the Japanese to move on ever onward's.
  9. I too am looking forward to this game,...as it remind's me of an old-game that i can no-longer play on WinXP or Vista!. It was great-fun!...and im hoping to recapture that part of my past!.

These were submarine aircraft carriers and each of them was able to carry 3 Aichi M6A Seiran aircraft underwater to their destinations. They were designed to surface, launch the planes then dive again quickly before they were discovered. They also carried torpedoes for close range combat. The aircraft were the Aichi M6A1 Seiran, also carried by the Type AM submarines. Each of these monoplanes could carry one aerial torpedo or a bomb weighing up to 800kg. Powered by the 1,400hp Atsuta 32 engine (similar to Germany's DB601) they had a top speed of 295mph and were credited with a range of 642 nautical miles. The Sen Toku submarines carried four aerial torpedoes, three 800kg bombs, and twelve 250kg bombs to arm these aircraft. These aircraft had their assembly points coated with fluorescent paint to ease assembly in the dark, so four trained men could prepare an aircraft for launch in seven minutes. All three aircraft could be prepared, armed, and launched in 45 minutes. http://www.combinedfleet.com/images/aichi_m6.gif On 26 July 1945, I-400 and I-401 set out on a combat mission to launch their aircraft in Kamikaze attacks on the American fleet anchorage at Ulithi. In coordination with a Kaiten attack, they were scheduled to launch early on 17 August, but by then hostilities had ceased. Both boats therefore returned to Japan and were surrendered to the Allies. After the war, these two were taken to the United States, examined, and finally scuttled in the Pacific in 1946. I-402 was converted to carry precious fuel to Japan from the East Indies, but never performed such a mission. She was scuttled off Goto Island in 1946. Construction of two further boats of this design, I-404 and I-405, was stopped before completion, although I-404 was 90% complete. A further 13 boats were canceled before construction started. The I-400 class was designed to travel round-trip to anywhere in the world. A fleet of 18 boats was planned in 1942, and work started on the first in January 1943 at the Kure, Hiroshima arsenal. Within a year the plan was scaled back to five, of which only three (I-400 at Kure, and I-401 and I-402 at Sasebo) were completed. [edit] Characteristics Each submarine had four 3,000 horsepower (2.2 MW) engines and carried enough fuel to go around the world one-and-a-half times - more than enough to reach the United States traveling east or west. They displaced 6,500 tons and were over 400 feet (120 m) long, three times the size of the average contemporary submarine. They had a figure-eight hull shape affording additional strength to handle the on-deck hangar for housing the three aircraft. In addition, they had four anti-aircraft guns and a large deck gun along with eight torpedo tubes. The Aichi M6A SeiranThey were able to carry three Aichi M6A Seiran aircraft, each carrying an 800 kilogram (1,764 lb) bomb 650 miles (1000 km) at 295 miles per hour (474 km/h). The existence of the Seiran was unknown to Allied intelligence. The wings of the Seiran folded back, the horizontal stabilizers folded down, and the top of the vertical stabilizer folded over so the overall forward profile of the aircraft was within the diameter of its propeller. When prepared for flight, they had a wing span of 40 feet (12 m) and a length of 38 feet (11.6 m). A crew of four could prepare and get all three airborne in 45 minutes. The planes were launched from a 120-foot (37-m) catapult on the deck of the giant submarine. A restored Seiran airplane is displayed at the National Air and Space Museum in Washington, D.C.. Only one was ever recovered and it had been ravaged by weather and souvenir collectors, but the restoration team was able to reconstruct it accurately. [edit] Operational history As the war turned against the Japanese and their fleet no longer had free rein in the Pacific, the Commander-in-Chief of the Japanese Combined Fleet, Admiral Isoroku Yamamoto, devised a daring plan to attack the cities of New York, Washington D.C., and other large American cities as well as to destroy the Panama Canal. Officers of I-400 in front of the plane hangar, photographed by the US Navy following the capture of the submarine at sea, one week after the end of hostilities. One of Yamamoto’s plans was to use the sen toku (secret submarine attack), so that in the opening days of 1945, preparations were under way to attack the Panama Canal. The strategy was to cut the supply lines and access to the Pacific Ocean by U.S. ships. The plan was to sail westward through the Indian Ocean, around the southern tip of Africa, and attack the canal’s Gatun Locks from the east, a direction from which the Americans would not expect and were little prepared to defend. The flights would, of course, be one-way trips. None of the pilots expected to survive the attack, a tactic called tokko. Each pilot was presented with a tokko short sword, symbolic of the ultimate sacrifice. Before the attack could commence from the Japanese naval base at Maizuru, word reached Japan that the Allies were preparing for an assault on the home islands. The mission was changed to attack the Allied naval base on Ulithi where the invasion was being assembled. Before that could take place, the Emperor announced the surrender of Japan. On August 22, 1945, the crews of the submarines were ordered to destroy all their weapons. The torpedoes were fired without arming and the aircraft were launched without unfolding the wings and stabilizers. When I-401 surrendered to an American destroyer, the U.S. crew was astounded at its size. The commander of the submarine fleet, Captain Ariizumi, apparently decided on suicide rather than surrender to the Americans. He requested that his body be wrapped in the Japanese flag and buried at sea and shot himself. His body was never presented as proof of his death. [edit] American inspections Members of the US Navy inspecting the plane hangar of I 400.The U.S. Navy boarded and recovered 24 submarines including the three I-400 submarines, taking them to Sasebo Bay to study them. While there, they received a message that the Soviets were sending an inspection team to examine the submarines. To keep the technology out of the hands of the Soviets, Operation Road’s End was instituted. Most of the submarines were taken to a position designated as Point Deep Six, about 40 miles (60 km) west of Nagasaki and off the island of Gotō Islands, were packed with charges of C-2 explosive and destroyed. They are today at a depth of 200 meters. US Navy personnel inspecting the gun of I-400.Four remaining submarines (I-400, I-401, I-201 and I-203 were sailed to Hawaii by U.S. Navy technicians for further inspection. Upon completion of the inspections, the submarines were scuttled in the waters off Kalaeloa near Oahu in Hawaii by torpedoes from the American submarine USS Cabezon on May 31, 1946. The reason for the scuttling is apparently that Soviet scientists were again demanding access to the submarines. The wreckage of I 401 was re-discovered by the Pisces deep-sea submarines of the Hawaii Undersea Research Laboratory in March 2005 at a depth of 820 meters. [1] [2] [3] [edit] Post-War influences It is sometimes suggested that the sen toku inspired the building of the large modern nuclear submarines and that the launching of aircraft from a submarine led to the idea of launching ballistic missiles.[citation needed] This has been disputed because the largest submarines ever, the Russian Typhoon-class, were built in ignorance of the sen toku. As early as the Second World War, US submarines had fired rockets from deck-mounted launchers against the Japanese mainland (the Japanese thought they were bombs from high-flying night bombers). The hulls of modern nuclear submarines do not feature the figure-eight shape of the sen toku, but were based on the shape of the German Walther boats that were developed toward the end of the war. The Germans themselves based their design on the shape of dolphins.[citation needed] The Germans also experimented with rockets that were launched from U-boats and devised plans for using V-2 rockets against the United States. 11. thetwo!...yes!...i agree with you!...it's just amazing that that 'Aircraft-Carrier' was able to make it back to the repair dock's!. Now!...in case some missed it!,...i was trying to get this information to everyone's attention!. 13. Mispelled Title by Mistake!,...should have been...> Kamakazi's!...IE: "Divine Wind!". The game "SHOULD HAVE KAMAKAZI'S!",...as it was really 'In-Fact!'...'A-Fact!',...a REAL...'Historical-Reality'!...and beside's that!,...who could really 'Resist!!!'...knocking out an Aircraft-Carrier-Group with a Banzai-Force of these Play-Thing's???.
  14. YES!!!...As an example!,...'OIL' was of paramount concern for the Japanese!. I can't remember exactly,...but i believe that is one reason why the Japanese attacked 'Singapore & Davo'? in quick-succession!...in order to naildown the Oil-LifeLine!. Without 'OIL' the Japanese War-Machine would have ground to a halt!.
  15. I see & understand both sides of this debate!,...no problem!. What really matter's in the end as i see it is...to make this game playable!!!...and if that mean's some "Map-Adustment's!"...then...so-be-it!.
  16. I forgot who produced P.T.O. ...Pacific Theatre Of Operations?. Anyway...in that game, for example... i could order the construction of a 'New-BattleShip' or a 'New-Air-Craft-Carrier' or what-ever!. At that point i also could input 'what-ever-available' Technolgies into my new 'Pet-Project' that i wanted too! [size Of Ship-Battle Ship or Carrier or What-Ever_Transform Carrier into a Rocket-Launcher-Platform or Use it only for aircraft_Designate a name for it...EG:(Japanese) 'I****SUCHI'???]. Once the design consideration's were emplaced,...a Construction-Time-Frame would be blurted out for me! & as the game time would progress,...i would then be able to stop in and peek to see how the progress on my effort/effort's...were coming along!. It would be great...if on top of all of that...that one could see a visual-image of the actual physical 'Ship-Construction' progress!...~A Deam!...Only In A Dream!.
  17. Im incredibly "IMPRESSED!!!"...by the Campaign Line-Up for the PACIFIC THEATER release!!!,..."SPECTACULAR-WORK!!!". I'm also hoping for some 'Hypothetical' Campaign's...specifically at least for the one i have in mind,...and that is...with the assistance of breaking new-technology from the III-Reich,...the 'Japanese' were putting into work or into motion...effort's to drastically modernize their 'Air-Arm'. New Jet Technology was very-near visited in the Pacific Theater,...as well as for new technologies for the other branches of the Japanese armed forces. Even beyond WAR IN EUROPE & PACIFIC THEATRE,...if 'Hubert' desires so...there is so much more that can be done!~,...but!...is there time to do it?...or any desire to do it!. 'HISTORY!'...is replete with an almost endless-supply of material to work with for future release's. OK!...i'll rattle off just a very-few of my favorite day-dreaming's!..."Just-Because!"... . 1. "RED CRESENT"_Ressurgence of the 'Muslim-Islamist-Empire'!. Before the Crusades began in earnest...the Muslims nearly conquered Europe!,...check your history...this really nearly happened! [Today...much of Europe is flooded with Cheap Foreign MUSLIM Labor_Large Numbers Of Them!.]. Also...TODAY...'Mahmoud Amadinejad' [iRAN'S LEADER] has that same/similar dream/thought in mind!,...but 1st he need's to gain control of the Arab-Middle-East!,...Eradicate Israel...then onward's...ever onward's!...to greater glory & conquest!. 2. CONQUISTADOR!!!. Spanish Conquest Of The 'NEW-WORLD!'. An amazing-daring-brilliant effort by the Spanish-Empire to take control of Central & South America!. 3. THE 'ARAB-ISRAELI' WARS!. Very recent stuff!...full of mind-boggling brilliant effort's by the ISRAELI'S to defend their homeland!. 4. THE ROMAN EMPIRE!. So much rich material to work with here!. I think that one of the reason's why the ROMAN-EMPIRE fell...is because that when the EMPIRE had expanded as far as it did,...the ROMAN'S were getting into a short supply of Gold and other mean's with which to pay the hired Mercenaries & and for the expenses of fortifying the frontier region's. They opted to use alloy's in their Gold - Silver & Copper in order to make their fund's stretch out to keep the payroll's going!. Neighboring Merchant's may have not been impressed anymore with gimicky-'Roman Coin' anymore,...and so thereby causing this fraudulent scheme to backfire on the instigator's,....thereby causing the Roman-Empire to Collapse!!!. ?????...am i partly right?,...mostly right?...who really know's...there are also other reasons why this powerful Empire fell!. Which to bring it in today's perspective...is what is also now happening to the United States! [iE: Printing TrainLoad's Of Money To Pay For These Bailout's!_>Creating HyperInflation!_>Devauling The U.S. Dollar!_>Severe Recession or maybey even Depression!].
  18. 'jon j rambo' & xwormwood!,...you "Both!!!" have some really good-idea's here!. Of course,...these should be feature's that the participant-player can toggle...'On!' or 'Off!'. Both of your suggestion's have gone farther than what i initially proposed! & that's really very good!. "Anyone-Else!!!"...with another shattering revelation in this department???.
  19. It just occurred to me moment's ago!,...whynot have short little blast's of 'Music' in the game to enrichen the environment of the historical theatre'!. For example,...when your side/turn begin's [Perhap's_The Japanese Side],...i would really like the option of hearing a short 'Japanese-Military-Quip' [~10 Seconds or less] to add flavour to the setting in the game!. Also,...if 'Marines' are making an amphibious landing on an island,...just as the 'Invasion-Option' [unloading Troop's On The Beach-Head] is selected...a short musical clip of the 'Marine-Corp's' theme-song could be played!,...'Why-Not?'. I think that everything that can realistically be done to create & enhance the mood of 'WWII-Pacific Theatre',...should be done,...so as to increase the enjoyability and the addiction of 'wanting to play the game' & to keep the interest of the player 'reved-up!' as much as possible!,...for as long as possible!.
  20. I have seen all of those movies except..."Flags Of Our Fathers II". I would like to purchase all of those movies on DVD!. I only have a few of them at this time!.
  21. xwormwood!... For lack of another-way of expressing it...i think that i can describe your comment...as..."Combat-Variance-Capability!". A 'very-interesting-concept',...not something that i have ever given full thought too!. You just may have something very special/worthwhile there!. Your Idea need's more exploration...'Me-Thinks!'.
  22. I have not had opportunity to experience a 'Global' War-Simulation,...so im unqualified to make an evalution on that!. I do enjoy 'Theater' War-Sims such as SC2,...but also like regional conflict situations...such as 'The Battle For Italy or Crete or North-Afrika'! [This format is what i grew up with and was first aquainted with]. I don't think that im too-hard to please!,...i like to try everything!.
  23. I alway's call an "ACE" an "ACE" and a "SPADE" a "SPADE!",...unless i say so otherwise!. Although i have 'No-Concrete-Proof' or 'Thorough-Understanding' about JAPANESE-NUKE'S...what little i have come across...is that the 'Germans' by mean's of using a 'U-Boat' which was dispatched on a mission to Japan,...was sent with the information/know-how & technology/equipment required to be able to create an 'Atom-Bomb!'. That information...is still sketchy!,...i wouldn't bet my life on it!,...but...it just may have some basis of truth to it???.
  24. I think that some consideration could be given to "Visibiliy_Tracking" of Enemy Army-Group's!...during 'Inclement-Weather!'. Such as in "Winter-Storms!",...that the ability of 'Army-Groups' to spot 'Enemy-Army-Groups' be reduced from 'Two-Squares' [summer/Good Clear Weather] to 'One-Square!' [Winter-Storms & Heavy-Rain].
  25. "Nupremal!",...your a 'Real'..."Tile-Bit_Mod-Soldier!". Your are putting in a Massive-Effort in Time & Energy on this Project!. Thank's for your effort's!,...and by the way,..."Never-Give-Up!_Never-Surrender!!!".
