  1. 35-36 minutes That pesky Ranger is eviscerated spectacularly by my close range Grille. I continue the chase on my right, unloading my lorry borne Grenadiers and ordering them forward into the cover of the trees. His MMG's are making holes in my lorries not to mention more importantly holes in my men! A MMG is spotted on my left. This must have retreated back from his Ridge position. It is going to have to get past me, on it's way to the exit zone...
  2. 34-35 minutes The enemy rear guard on both my flanks is putting up a surprisingly effective fight. Few casualties lost I am afraid. On my right I am moving up another lorry mounted Grenadier Zug. My Mortars,Grilles and IG continue to pound his suspected retreat routes. Grilles are getting very low on HE (they start with around 7 shells). On my left I have flanked the exit road and set up my mortars and two Grilles to have eyes on his wheat field retreat routes.
  3. Thanks Normal Dude! Looking forward to this esp. to make the below less likely...
  4. Instead of 'Ours not to reason why, ours but to do and die', have you considered trying to break through to the exit zones? The Italians to the South would be the obvious direction?
  5. 32-33 minutes Some shots of the other enemy retreat route. I have moved an infantry platoon on to a small hill to get better sight lines. And 3 Grilles are blasting away
  6. 32-33 minutes It would seem the enemy is in full retreat. I have taken a fair few casualties cresting the 'CRESTA DELLA MORTE'. But both his Coys are somewhat exposed to my Grilles' heavy howitzers.
  7. I have that old dilemma. My opponent is retreating off the map. I want to catch him before he does but I do not want to run into any of his ambushes. 24 minutes 28 minutes Overall situation. Shame I mixed up my two Coys but time is pressing!
  8. Call me a paranoid fokker but I recently closed nearly all my American based web services for alternative non US ones, hoping (naively?) this will life harder for snoopers esp. US ones. Unfortunately I know of no other drop box alternative as easily or widely used by the wargaming community.
  9. 21 minutes New contacts start to appear along the ridge. 22 minutes Another MMG breaks cover..
  10. 17 minutes CONTACT!! As predicted contact is established approaching the Key Terrain ,'The Ridge of Death' 18 minutes My Grilles & mortars send some death torward the ridge. 19 minutes Another contact, this time an MMG.
  11. I do not think edge hugging is gamey or unrealistic. IRL commanders often attacked at the juncture of two formations so the edge could represent this. Everyone knows extreme flank attacks are common so one prepares for it, no?
  12. So far all is well. No contact except some light 60mm mortar fire on my flanks. My infantry approach the key terrain , the 'Ridge of Death'. If they can take this ridge they will have a strong position to set up their fire support from and continue their advance. Last battle my opponent Fizou did a sneaky hit & run attack on me. This time I am determined to cut off his retreat and force a surrender. +11 minutes
  13. My plan; Counterattack along the road to relieve and reinforce the VPL in Ribera. Try and cut off any retreating Rangers to boot! View from the SW looking towards the direction of attack NW.
  14. Credit to you Ian for holding out so long. Shoot off all your ammo first then you won't feel bad about surrender Soon the shoe will be on the other foot....
  15. It is a good idea for PBEM QB's as it should encourage more realistic/less gamey unit selections. One of the reasons I prefer playing PBEM scenarios. My only reservation would be how well FoW points translate into CM points giving the completely different game systems. Here is a pic of my Bolt Action Russians. Looking forward to Bagration
  16. Couldn't find the above. But did find your h2h 'Assault on Base 46'
  17. Any module. Preferably not stock. Thanks in advance.
  18. I am using h2hh v2.54,which works perfectly for me with all the CMx2 family including SF. In CM:FI ,on windows, the incoming/outgoing mail folder is usually in the 'User' folder, not where the rest of the program is installed.
  19. Situation Map with Assaults Marked Now it is the Axis turn to Assault. As the CIC, I choose two assaults, both of which my opposite number Fizou accepts. Hex 6,8 - Continued from the last AAR, my PzG supported by a Coy of Grilles counter-attacks up the Road to Verdura. Their objective is to relieve the town from its siege and hold on to the 300 point Victory location. They are up against their old friends, two very depleted Coys of Ranger Infantry with another Coy arriving as reinforcements in 15-30 minutes. Hex 16,9 - A few hours ago two Coys of his retreating 82nd Airborne Paratroopers retreated into the 200 point Victory Location of Ribera. Now my Italian Bersaglieri attacking from the East and my recently arrived PzGrenadiers attacking from the North will pincer assault his depleted Paras and drive them out! Both these maps are stock QB that we have modified to reflect the operational map(Credit to original authors) All the OoB conversions are done, now battle awaits Coming soon AAR's....
  20. Am I right in thinking that your opponent has the option to retreat after 30+ minutes? Do you think he will fight to the death or try and extricate his more mobile elements towards the exit zones?
  21. I was just thinking Koh and I figured that historically clear skies are your biggest threat so shall I make a sacrifice to the rain Goddess? Strictly veggie though.
