  1. TURN 3-4 CARRIER DESTROYED RETURNING FIRE CUTTING THE ROAD One thing I did not take account of is the fact that all my troops are 'green' and are understandably unhappy at taking on the mighty Flak 88's with nothing heavier than a Vickers Machine Gun.
  2. I forget the the link to the operational DAR http://www.battlefront.com/community/showthread.php?t=105900
  3. Setup The battle starts at 10:00am, the temperature is cool, and the weather is clear, with a gentle wind coming from the West. Below is a screenshot showing my setup and initial plan. The enemy cannot retreat off the map till turn 10 therefore I hope to cut him off with my Mobile MG Co. I doubt the enemy will try to retreat his unwieldy Flak 88's so I am expecting some armour & infantry casualties before I can hopefully knock them out. My FO has called in fire from an offmap 8 Gun battery of Priests. Our rules only allow area fire for initial attacking artillery barrages with a minimum radius of 35m per gun so in my case the Area Fire Radius in 280m. I have centered the artillery fire just behind the town to hopefully harass any retreating units and suppress his 88's.
  4. Looking for an opponent for any small scenario. I have patch 1.05. Please PM me and I will send an dropbox invite
  5. Allied Turn 2 Movement I declare to my opponent assaults on Camilly & Buron from several sides making sure all my assaulting units are in non-travel mode and have enough movement points to assault in PzC. My Recce platoon on a solo mission avoids combat and continues scouting. There will now be two CM battles at Camilly & Buron. My opponent no longer has the option to retreat in PzC on his next movement turn but can exit the CM battle map after 10 minutes. This is to simulate the difficulties of a fighting withdrawal. So now my opponent sends me the relevant maps in CM. I edit down my CM master OOB to the relevant units and deploy them in their correct setup zones using the operational map as my guide. I also have the option to use divisional artillery support for these battles but cannot reuse the same battery in my opponents movement phase therefore for the Camilly battle I opt to use one battery of Priests and for the Buron battle two batteries of Priests (My divisional artillery along the North edge of the map must be within 11 hexes of the battle they are supporting.) N.B. It up to me to choose which of my eligible assault units to use if any( in this case I am using all of them) so my opponent is in the dark when it comes to the size of my assaulting forces. This simulates operational FOW.
  6. Turn 1 Axis Move My opponent has heavily reinforced Buron so on my next turn I will assault it. His two units in Camilly are isolated which means they will receive no ammo resupplies until they break their isolation. I have got a rear flank attack on Camilly as well as front attacks so this should bode well for victory.
  7. Allied Turn 1. I start moving my forces South deploying around Camilly & Buron for possible assault on my next turn.
  8. INTRODUCTION The following is a new DAR for the PBEM operation I am playing with a CM opponent of mine called Noob, we had to re start the original operation because of some major rule changes. We are playing a scenario called #17-Buron-1 from the game Normandy '44, one of the titles from John Tiller's Panzer Campaign's series, Kuderian will be playing the Allies. Because all the combat values of the Panzer Campaigns units have been reduced to zero, all combat will be resolved using Combat Mission Battle for Normandy. OPERATIONAL FORCES AND OBJECTIVES On the 7th of July 1944 at 8:00am, elements of the 3rd Canadian Indantry Division, with armour support from the Sherbrooke Fusiliers, and artillery support from the 12th and 14th Canadian Field Regiment, move towards the city of Caen, their objective is to capture the villages of Camilly, Buron, Authie, Carpiquet and Ardenne Abbey. Facing them are elements of the 12th SS Panzer Division, 25th SS Panzer Grenadier Regiment, and 736th Grenadier Infantry Division. The Canadian forces are all volunteers with no combat experience, and therefore are classed as Green with High motivation. The 12th SS PzDiv and 25th SS Pz Gd Reg are made up almost entirely of Hitler Youth with no combat experience, therefore are classed as Green with Fanatical motivation. The 736th GrD Inf Reg are comprised of old men, boys and foreign troops, they have no combat experience, and therefore are classed as Green with Low motivation. 9. Two questions gentlemen. A good source of historical maps for overlaying? How do you get the right scale on the overlay? Thanks in advance.
  10. Initial spotted Axis units Now as the Allies I move first and send my move to Noob. Allied Turn 1 Move I do not have enough movement points left to assault any Axis units this turn, so I tell my opponent that I will not be declaring any CM battles and he can now do his Turn 1 Axis move.
  11. Sorry for delay folks , Noob and I have restarted the operation using new assault rules so I am going to repost my Turn 1 setup. Many thanks to our Peter Wenman for his excellent maps and 'Jison' at http://mapmod.hist-sdc.com/ for revamped graphics mod. Initial setup Map Topography Map Key
  12. End. Teleportation kicks in. Time to brew up and have a well deserved fag (British slang for a cigarette).
  13. Minute 2 I decide to unbutton my tanks and give them left target arcs where enemy contacts spotted. They start engaging enemy infantry. This guy seems to be in a hurry. On the home straight! They reach the exit zones the lucky Fokkers!
  14. Minute 1 My Stuarts set off at full speed. I button them so the commanders have a better chance of survival. After 15 seconds contacts appear on my left flank. Nothing in front so far praise the Gods. My Stuarts are temporarily slowed by the rough ground Back to full speed still no frontal contacts
  15. Turn 1 Summary Axis forces retreat from Buron and Camilly without any combat. Battle 1 Hex 11/10 Authie Sherbrooke Fusiliers 1/27 Cdn A Stuart Recce Platoon after been surrounded, breaks out north to hex 11/9. picture coming soon DAR link Allied http://www.battlefront.com/community/showthread.php?t=105398 Battle 2 Hex 12/10 Sherbrooke Fusiliers 2/27 Cdn A Stuart Recce Platoon after been surrounded at hex 12/10 is destroyed. picture coming soon DAR link Allied http://www.battlefront.com/community/showthread.php?t=105415
  16. Phwew! Made it Didn't realize you had only Infantry in that corner , lucky this time.... Allied CO
  17. Valiant effort and great AAR eltorrente, thank you sir. Send me your password please so I can review the battle. CO Kuderian
  18. My plan. Survival if possible. Head for the exit strip as fast as possible from the nearest position to it along the best terrain for speed. Looking at the terrain the top right seems the best option. Blue is terrain next to the exit strip that is fast for a tank to travel through. Red is low bocage with a few gaps which would force my tanks through narrow gaps and slow them down. Red Poor tank terrain Blue Good tank terrain Here are my Stuarts looking longingly at the exit strip ahead. So near yet so far...
  19. My forces are forced to fight in Authie. Ok so now I edit down the master CM oob to just the Recce platoon( No peeking at enemy!) My setup is blue in the middle. You can see the enemy setup as well. My Exit strip is along the north edge of the map.
  20. Sorry Allies. Thanks for your interest eltorrente. If you would like to fight the other battle as the Allies, PM with your email details and I will share the relevant dropbox folder with you
