  1. That's true, I'm just being conservative with my predictions. At one point, Steve said Battlefront would never do the Romanians and Hungarians again, as the demand to play them wasn't worth the work involved. Later he backtracked on this. At this point I'm sure it's still undecided and will depend on sales of the Bagration family. Any way this is my prediction, not my wish list.
  2. But a leafless tree and a shell blasted tree don't really look the same. I don't know how many tree types there are. or if one can select tree types in the editor, but if some one did a dead tree mod, you would have the look your going for.
  3. Just some predictions on the "Bagration" family of games (though we really are only guessing at the name of the family): Base Game:Operation Bagration. June '44 Module 1: Vistula Offensive Jan '44. Winter warfare Module 2: Battle for Berlin April '45 Battlepack 1 Adds the '44 Finns and misc equipment.
  4. All I see lately is stuff about Strategic Command. You'd think they were running a business or something. Don't they know that Combat Mission is all we live for? Well that and beer and a few other things, but really Battlefront, think of us poor saps. Bil is on vacation and the AAR is dead until he gets back. Throw us a Gustav Line bone!
  5. Well except for that one beta tester who inadvertently let out some info.
  6. But seriously folks: Here are some pre-order to release times. CMSF:NATO 5 weeks CM:BN 10 weeks CM:BN Commonwealth 6 weeks CM:FI 6 weeks (pre-order available at first announcement) Gustav Line has only been 4 weeks so I estimate we have 2 weeks to go.
  7. Read the article after the announcement. Very interesting. Any one know if they play realtime or turn based? Also it sounds as if they play player vs player rather than vs the AI. Am I right? Also I seem to recall the Canadian Army using it in some form or other as well. Any one else remember that?
  8. In the Italian combat thread, before it turned into a math debate, I posted I would rather see Italian Partisans than post-surrender Italian Facist as it would be something new in a CMX2 WWII game and it could make use of code from Shock Force. Now I'm not really expecting Italian Partisans in CMFI, but we will likely see Partisans when we move to the Ost Front. Upon further reflection, however, I realized the Shock Force spy code really couldn't be used realistically in a WWII game. As far as regular Partisans would go, I don't think the Irregulars in Shock Force were harder to spot than regular Syrian Army troops were. So unless I'm overlooking something, in actuality there really isn't anything from the Shock Force code that could be used for Partisan warfare in WWII. Thoughts?
  9. I don't think Battlefront has anything against doing Korea. Once Bagration is done (with all its modules to the end of the war in May '45), it would probably be easier for them to do then a France 1940 game. But just look at what else they have on their plate already announced. 1. CMFI:Gustav Line. 2. CMBN: Market-Garden and at least one CMBN Battlepack. 3. Ostfront '44 Bagation (and modules). 4. CMSF II: NATO vs Russia (and modules). 5. CMX2 Battle of Bulge Game (and modules). 6 Three more Ostfront Games (and modules). This is all going to take years of development. I think our best hope for a Korea game is if a third party took it on as one did Afghanistan.
  10. Hi Dan, since we have your attention for the moment, is a burnt out civilian car something we might see in the future?
  11. Well if I had to guess, and this is probably wishful thinking, I'd go with the opposite of fire and guess assault boats, in order to recreate the 82nds assault across the river at the bridge in Nijmegen.
  12. Okay, with a little fudging I've copied Steve's post:
  13. Well my suspicion is the other "secret thing" will be something to do with Combat Mission Touch.
  14. Didn't Moon hint at another something nice after GL was announced? Edit: Nope it was Steve but I can't quote him because he locked the thread.
  15. Do present day Russian units still use a red star on their vehicles, planes etc?
  16. Oh, I would agree, but I was curious as Steve had alluded to the late war Facist in this post: Personally for me, Italian Partisans using some of the features of CMSF would be more interesting and different, but we're likely to have all the Partiasin fighting we would want when Bagration comes out.
  17. By Big Dogs request, I will return to the Italians. There's been mention of post-surrender Italian Facist forces possibly being included in a Gamepack. Where they ever a front-line force of note that would be worth including in a future product?
  18. I'm curious, defensively the Elefant rules, and it would do well against armor but how many HE rounds would it carry?
  19. Patton was ASSASSINATED by a bullet disguised to look like a car window handle knob. I saw it on TV.
  20. I would not hold up the Bagration game just for tank riders. There are many features, I feel, that would be more desirable. Tank riding is more an operational than tactical means of transport. I know, one could say the same about trucks, but trucks were, I'm sure, much easier to implement in the game. I'm just thinking of all the development resource consuming animations that would be required for tank riding. Each tank model would probably have to be different. And by June '44 the Red Army had many more trucks available than previous years, making tank riding less necessary anyway.
