What does Squad Leader do better than CM?
Sequoia replied to Ace Pilot's topic in Combat Mission: Afrika Korps
It's been years since I played Squad Leader, but didn't it allow at least Engineer squads to create smoke. Was there ever a thread on why CM doesn't allow for this? -
Since the other thread is now about whether Jap is an insulting term or not, I thought I’d start a new thread on this subject. It’s been implied in the previous thread the Japanese Army was somewhat “second rate”; yet they were able to inflict one of the most humiliating defeats in British history at Singapore. Were the Commonwealth forces defending Singapore “third rate”?

Mod request of a different sort--DVD jewel case covers
Sequoia replied to tooz's topic in Combat Mission: Afrika Korps
I don't see one by Pud. There's one by satan (crosses himself). Are they the same person? By the way Afrika Korps is spelled wrong on Satan's cover. -
That's cool. I don't live too far from Camp Roberts. Do they permit tourist?

If I may speculate, It could be they just ran out of time/room on the disk and since Combat Mission doesn't have the same sales potential in India as the other countries they were left out. Just a thought.

Would someone be willing to email me this CMBO battle? The link at the Scenario depot is broken. Thanks

If you could have just one (or two) more vehicle(s) included in the game what would they be and why?

Motorcycles on the attack! Insight sought
Sequoia replied to John Kettler's topic in Combat Mission: Barbarossa to Berlin
Shouldn't the jumping be available only to the Steve McQueen motorcycle unit? -
Motorcycles on the attack! Insight sought
Sequoia replied to John Kettler's topic in Combat Mission: Barbarossa to Berlin
I think it was more about having motorcycles unhistorically scouting out your enemy's position in combination with Borg spotting. That said if this can be avoided I love to see them in CMXII along with Dandelion's vehicles and ambulances, recovery vehicles, staff cars, etc - hey I can dream can't I! -
Hello Andrew, You mentioned you might do a mod on the 75mm Inf gun (the leIg18 I assume). Any thing happening on that front? Thanks.

Awesome! Thanks Ari!

Good to see you back Ari!

150mm Brummbar or 105mm Sturmpanzer for AI?
Sequoia replied to Znarf's topic in Combat Mission: Afrika Korps
Do you mean the StugH42 instead of the Sturmpanzer? -
Modern as in 2005? That would be low-intensity counter-insurgency. Not the best match for the scale of Combat Mission.

If only this vehicle could be in the game

Sequoia replied to MikeT's topic in Combat Mission: Afrika Korps
Just for the record. My copy of Bart Vanderveen's "Fighting Vehicles Directory of WWII" does show a Volkwagen Beetle type car. -
The LVT iv would be cool. And who can forget the Schwimmpanzer!

Skinning editor for CMX2, Feasible?
Sequoia replied to Sequoia's topic in Combat Mission: Afrika Korps
What do you think the odds of that are? Back to the main subject. I think Battlefront does a good job of including all the combat vehicles that were available in the theathers covered, but I have an interest in seeing additional non-combat vehicles for flavor's sake. Since the general consensus seems to be that a vehicle editor is unlikely, I'd be happy to see a building editor which includes settings for the hardness of walls-wood, stone, even fabric so one can make tents. Also being able to make fortresses such as Eben Emael would be fantastic. -
Anyone getting tired of WWII settings?
Sequoia replied to istari's topic in Combat Mission: Afrika Korps
Once WWII is covered by Battlefront to the extent it is by Advanced Squad Leader I will be ready for a new time period. -
Spoiler ! For those of you familiar with this scenario, I played a solo game as the Canadians and used the heavy artillery to pound the German infantry I ran into on my way to the pillboxes rather than, as the briefing suggested, using the arty on the pillboxes themselves. My plan worked but I wonder if this goes against the spirit of the scenario. Any opinions?

60 years ago today...Battle of the Bulge
Sequoia replied to Sgt Joch's topic in Combat Mission: Afrika Korps
Unfortunately, I still have visions of the Henry Fonda movie when I think about The Bulge. There was a much better movie about it, I think it was called Battlecry, but it's been a couple decades since I've seen it. -
Desert Warfare - Afrika Korps?
Sequoia replied to junk2drive's topic in Combat Mission: Afrika Korps
I bought CMAK for the desert and Italy and all the cool new vehicles that came with it. "I like the desert. It's clean." Probably a misquote but guess who said that? As my sig says, I still have a fondness for CMBO and use it when I want to play Western Front.
