  1. Maybe it's a "Hey, if Wehrmacht Tankers could do it in WWII the Bundeswehr can do it in Afghanistan" sort of thing.
  2. Great pics guys. Are those berets the Germans are wearing? I wouldn't want to go into combat with just those on.
  3. You can always get the upcoming Afganistan game.
  4. There was a hint we would see something new Red in the NATO module. I don't think it'll be the Shilka as that would require adding a whole new AA element to the game but AT guns do seem like a good possibility.
  5. Steve lost the debate? Not as I see it. Did Kilroy really convince any one the patches should be free? And at least half of what Kilroy was saying wasn't even true. IIRC Paradox has not released any patches to games 6-8 years old (i.e Crusader Kings or HoI II or Victoria) but only to for expansions to those games that came out much more recently.
  6. Well I'll take the risk and tell him great job anyway. This will add a lot to making towns less generic looking.
  7. I knew his time here would be limited when he insinuated modern soldiers were cowards in the CMSF forum.
  8. Opps, saw this too late. Same thing happened to me.
  9. Do you think it would be possible to add scenario size to the summaries or am I the only one who would be interested in this?
  10. You know, it's kind of like the way a crack dealer works. They give you the first hit really cheap to get you hooked and then hit you the going price from then on.
  11. But the Spanish Army may have a champion at Battlefront with Fernando Buil. Has anyone ever seen Fernando post on these forums though?
  12. Another vote for the Spanish. Just to make sure you know, however, the NATO module will have the Germans, Dutch and Canadians. What we're talking about here is a highly speculative 2nd NATO module with the French and possibly another NATO country or two.
  13. Hmm, maybe a French/Italian/Spanish module would generate enough interest to make a fourth module economically viable. Would be a lot of new vehicles though. I think a French/Polish module might work too. Some quick research shows they use a mix of German and Russian equipment. You'd have a Blue force with Red vehicles. Sure you could fudge that already now but the real thing would be interesting.
  14. Okay, thanks. I know this is all wild speculation but I'm wondering who would make an easy add on for Battlefront to a French module if they did decide to do one in the end. It sounds like it wouldn't be the Italians.
  15. Thanks. What other NATO country or countries could be included without doing new vehicles if one counts vehicles from all four countries above? Would Spain be one of them?
  16. Out of curiosity, do you know what unique equipment do the Italians use that's not US/British/German or French ?
  17. Of course, why didn't I think of that? That's the Desert Rats right? Does the British Campaign center around that unit?
  18. Most likely true but thay could still be represented by a unit on the map. Edit: I suppose it's possible that when the NATO module is done, the Normandy game won't be done yet and the module team, with nothing to do, will decide to tackle the French Army with maybe, say, the Italians thrown in. How's that for a dream?
  19. The printed map of Syria that came with the hard copy of the game has the invading units in NATO symbols and the invasion routes they are to take. I searched for a thread that might have detail as to exactly what unit is what, but couldn't find anything obvious. I know NATO symbols from my board wargaming days so I can tell that it's the first US Cavalry division on the south flank of the US units coming in from Iraq and I'm going to assume the 1st Cav consists of (confusingly to me ) the 7th (?) armored brigade of the 1st Cavalry or armored division, some undetermined mech infantry brigade and the 1 brigade 4th mech infantry division. I can tell it's a Marine regiment and two air portable Marine battalions coming in from the sea and I assume all European forces (and maybe the Canadians) coming in from Turkey. Is the 12th of the 10th mech infantry in the north the Brits? Is the FG brigade the Federal Republic of Germany? Is the FR brigade the French? What are the GR and SP battalions? Is this map obsolete? Thanks for any help explaining any of this.
  20. It's a good question though Chad. My hunch is it won't make it this year. Software development always takes longer than predicted. Major things they had/have to do: Water European terrain and buildings Anti tank guns and on map light artillery pieces. Troops riding on tanks and halftracks. on map mortars (yeah we'll get a taste of it with the CMSF Brits but it will require even more work for the WWII stuff). Anti aircraft fire. flamethrowers. hand to hand combat (there would be a tremendous outcry if they didn't include it). Those are just a few major new features that come to my mind. I'm sure others can think of more.
  21. If they did this, wouldn't they have to add in a whole AA element into the NATO module that they wouldn't need to do for Afganistan? Maybe they'll have the work done already for Normandy, but it seems to make it less likely for the NATO module to me.
  22. I see these folks did the voices for the Brit module. Are they beta-testers for the most part or did Battlefront hire out some pros? Thanks Jon Arkley Andy Farley Stuart Galbraith George McEwan Mike Piggot Karl White Phil Williamson Jerry Retford
  23. I think this is a strong hint they will be including something Red and if isn't the t-80, than what will it be is the question.
