Do NCO Uniform Textures Work?
waffelmann replied to Quintus Sertorius's topic in CM Normandy Maps and Mods
I think I didn't see any german NCOs with their own texture, too...and I have upgraded to 201. And this is for all troops (wehrmacht, ss and luftwaffe)... You are making luftwaffe-uniforms? How will they look like? greetings, alex -
Aaaahhh...I see...I thought you have different markings for the 82nd and the 101st... Thank you for the very fast and very good answer! Greetings, alex

How did you managed, that only the paratroopres has the markings on the helmets??? Didn't worked for me... Greetings, alex
-
I would have one: (But I don't want to hijack this thread) german lw-troops...I think their badgets are not right... greetings, alex

Hi, I tested the helmet-beret-change and it works. My commonwealth-paratroopers are wearing red berets now. And without hex-editing! BUT: Now all commonwealth paratroopers are wearing the same beret (british and canadian). And before the install of MG it should be removed because of the (propably) polnish paratroopers... Greetings, alex

2.0 German Uniform Texture Issue
waffelmann replied to LukeFF's topic in Combat Mission Battle for Normandy
One additional question again: I discovered skins for ss panzergrenadiers (and enginieers), but these are not choseable. Will this come in 2.01 or are these leftovers from tests? Greetings, alex -
As I see it is not longer so simple as before! Now the difference is, that within the commonwealth-forces the specific troops share the same modell (before patch 2.00 every nation has it own modell). So if you for example change the helmet of the polish troops to a beret, all regular commonwealth-troops will wear a beret. And the specific commonwealth-troops (e.g. british) have within no uniform-selection (exept for the nation). The only way I see at the moment is to try to give the british paratroopers a beret and change then the canadian to commandos (with green beret)... But don't know at the moment, if this is still possible... Maybe someone other knows more... Hope this helps (and was understandable...my english is not very well). Greetings, alex

2.0 German Uniform Texture Issue
waffelmann replied to LukeFF's topic in Combat Mission Battle for Normandy
An additional question: If you chose "Standard" for the ss-troops, there will be the soldiers with the smock. There appears the camouflage of the heeres-smock, too...is this intentionally? Greetings, alex -
If you exploded the original game files you will find a directory <soldier> and in this several directories for the different soldiers like uk airborne and similar. There you find e.g. one uk-airborne-helmet.mdr (This is the model) file and 5 uk-airborne-helmet-lod-X.mdr-files (and these are for the distance (Level Of Detail)) So the canadian-airborne-helmet.mdr-file within the mod is ok. Now you additionally copy and rename from the exploded original files (directory uk crew) the 5 blabla-lod-x.mdr files. That's it! If you want to keep the red berets for the british paras, then you have to edit the base-mdr with a hex-editor. Hope that helps! greetings, Alex
-
So is the theory! And it is simple to test! Greetings, alex
-
Its possible to switch the helmets without conflicts. But then you have to (HEX-)edit the bas-mdr-file. But the copying and renaming of the lod-files shouldn't make any trouble (I think ;-)) In case of the canadians you naturally have to rename it to: canadian-airborne-helmet-lod-1.mdr . . . I have canadian paratroopers which wear red berets (based on Mord's excellent work!), which didn't change form at the distance and which can fight with/against any other troops without graphically peculiarities (right word???). So it works.... Greetings, alex
-
May I suggest do take the lod-Files from the british-crew berets and rename them to the used helmet-mdrs. E.g. uk-afv-beret-lod-1.mdr uk-afv-beret-lod-2.mdr uk-afv-beret-lod-3.mdr uk-afv-beret-lod-4.mdr uk-afv-beret-lod-5.mdr to polish-helmet-lod-1.mdr polish-helmet-lod-2.mdr polish-helmet-lod-3.mdr polish-helmet-lod-4.mdr polish-helmet-lod-5.mdr (Don#t know if it matters, but maybe the best is to use the mdr-files from the beret-file which is used for the mod) Naturally in your z-Folder. I think you will get then better results... Greetings, alex

so if this behavior is intentionally then it is extrem difficult for the AI to defend a town or village against tanks... Even for a human will it be difficult (with WEG), but for the AI I see no way to split a group off with anti-tank-assets, to leave the building and attack the tank from behind... greetings, alex
-
I will try it later, but what does this show? So it is itentionally that the pioneers only can use their demo-charges and grenades against tanks in the open? Then how I fight against tanks in an urban enviroment? Especially when I play WEGO where it is extrem difficult to time a good attack against a tank? greetings, alex
-
Tried it with german pioneers in a house vs british sherman. 1 pioneer-squad on the first floor (second-floor???), the platoon-hq on the ground floor. They done nothing exept from shooting the tank-commander. The tank then fires at the HQ which leaves the house. Exact after leaving the building the HQ begin to throw grenades. The pioneer-squad throws greandes and demo-charges , too, after leaving the building. This was with CW-Modul, patch 1.10. greetings, alex

Skeleton .mds-files in the base game..?
waffelmann replied to Shorker's topic in CM Normandy Maps and Mods
Hi Mord, maybe I can help! What do you want to achieve with the berets? And what is your problem with that? greetings, alex -
Hi Mord, sorry if I confused you...I am a bad explainer. If you edit the original-file (uk-airborne-helmet...mdr) with a hexeditor only substitute a letter for an other (e.g. uk-airborne-helmet to ak-airborne-helmet (I took the expression at the middle of the file, not this one at the beginning)). This works (I tried it). And I meant only to take the lod-files from the crew-berets (then the edges look better). I only understand this because Ryujin explained it to me. He is the real genius with this things. Greetings, alex
-
Sorry, bad expressed. What I mean: Take the mdr from the uk-airborne as placeholder (rename it to the uk-chin-blabla). The associating bmp renaming in this file with a hexeditor (e.g. to uk-airborne-heemet) and then copy your empty bmp's with this name. Isuggest additional to copy the lods from the crew-beret (I am not sure, but I have the impression it looks better). So it is possible to use us-troops and uk-airborne together. I hope this was understandable...bad einglish like always ;-) greetings, alex
