  1. ah, you're better at graphics than I ! Every time I start playing with Irfanview in saturation etc, I end up with a mess. Thank goodness for people like you guys to mod for me I am still waiting for Tom's new mod. Looks like just the thing for parts of Korea.
  2. I love the coiled barbed wire. I am content with juju's trenches, but would have a look at yours. The dark wood markers is an interesting touch.
  3. Delete the pref file and try again, selecting a different refresh rate. Are you selecting a resolution that your system can handle?
  4. I am not a tech guru but I have played around a bit with the terrain. The game engine does something funky with terrain tiles in early Italy. I renumbered the NA arid tiles for open ground dirt in Italy and got a weird collection of dots in light blue, teal, pink, here and there. I have had the same thing with some treebases and brush trials. In general, Italy early to mid, the engine tints things reddish, rather than having separate bmps for that period. IOW what looks good in late war or NA my not work in 43 Italy. Check my entry at TPG, design tips, for seasons and bmp numbers in CMAK.

  6. The pic I posted reminds me of CMBO after modding. Especially when people complain about BO terrain graphics.
  7. The shoulder area is wider in BB AK. I stretched and shrunk the bmps for Andrew's BO late USA unis that are under CMAK at cmmods. It is a pita. I have used BO unis in AK with mixed results. Renumbered of course.
  8. It makes me crazy when the designer states not for play as axis vs ai and the reviewer says he played as axis vs ai and the scenario sucked. Is that trolling?
  9. Historical reviews are the reviews before the new version of TSD. Sort of archive reviews.
  10. I agree about the importance of terrain for immersion, not gameplay. I look at screenshots of other games and wish we had their looks, but I am glad we don't have their one level viewpoint or poor mechanics and space compression.
  11. I am working on mods for Vietnam scenarios. I have a mod for wheat to simulate grass that I have seen in Ia Drang Valley pictures. Wheat terrain pinked out over DD's grass and steppe mod with OSF doodads
  12. Hi Maj, glad to see your are back safe. (my friend at work just lost a nephew in Iraq ) I have been working on more mods. Latest are for Korea. I am contemplating some Vietnam 60's mods. Been reading about LZXray. I might try a battle or op with halftracks as helos. CMX2 is coming along so they say. We still don't know what, where, or how.
  13. the only thing I could find was at CMHQ for CMBO. Andrew Fox's and mchlstrt's Volkssturm uniform (hi-res).
  14. The ops I've played through vs AI don't give full stats or a score. Just level of victory.
  15. Civil War Generals 2, or one of those games, the direction of the hex was important. If you attacked an enemy hex head on, least effective. Side was better. Both sides crossfire. Rear attack could be best or surround the hex and it surrendered. I don't see this modeled in CM. Am I wrong?

  18. It looks alot like Blitzkreig from CDV. Did you play the demo?
  19. Don't forget the FOW setting. Like when your troops hit the dirt, but you can't find a tracer or enemy unit.
  20. Ok, I load CSDT, Lonely Country in editor. My camera is at Axis troops backside. I go to view level 8. I click and drag a rectangle around the units. One unit turns yellow. I can hit P or I hit the spacebar and the window pops up. I can place these units to the forward edge of the setup zone. Now I scroll accross the screen to the Allied units. I click and drag a rectangle around these units. Repeat above and place them anywhere in the setup zone. That is all I have to do. At level 8, / key reverses my viewpoint direction. \ key takes me down a view level. Sorry if you have to switch sides to "place" units. To "move" units my way doesn't work. I can only "move" units one at a time. Hope this clears it up for the original question for the original post. No more from me.
