I tried a QB after reading some of these threads. A company and some armor on both sides. Deep snow, extreme cold, ME. I moved across the map for 30+ turns of a 40+ turn battle before contact 3/4 way across the map. The battle ended around 40 and I looked at the map. The AI was wandering nowhere near a flag facing all different directions. A single contact was all I ever got.

I opened the zip and extracted the file to a different install on my system. (i have 3 CMAKs on two drive letters.) It opened fine for playing. I started the game in the original install it was fine. Small map, infantry only, light snow, night, clear. maybe 4 companies combined. Both 1.01 afaik. I sent it on to another friend, waiting for feedback.

I have a PC. I made a battle. I send it to a friend with a Mac. It crashes his system. I send it again in a zip. Same. Any ideas?

Bump, because it took me a while to find. I converted a CMBB map with two, two tile factories to CMAK and the MC 1.28 made them tall large buildings. That is what I had hoped for. Working great for me.

A Simple Attack, Comrade All these months later it comes to me. Not an op, must have felt like one though. I was looking through some of Hans' CMBB work at TSD and this one looks familiar. Map looks the same. I could fire up BB and find out. For some reason, Hans' work just fits my style. I didn't know he had done so many of the CMBB scenarios that I enjoyed before CMAK.

As posted before, I did Asian faces for CMBB that worked quite well. I was disappointed when I got CMAK and found the mod didn't work. I can however have North vs South Koreans and China vs Japan

It should be better than my radeon 7000 64mb ddr. I don't have studder unless there are a lot of craters. I usually play with trees at moderate, sound off. Some things running in the background. Frequently online audio. AMD duron 1.2 512 sdram Nothing fancy.

All the face bmps are shared amongst countries so there is no way to separate nationalities. And yes, all the faces are caucasianesque.

Dandelion, maybe you could squeeze this info into the CMAKdb info box. I do so enjoy reading your posts there. Thanks to all who replied. So much better than reading a peng thread.

Joel, thanks for the insight and clarification. The compromises make sense to me. I'm wanting to use the French for something else, and I guess I'll just have to deal with it. The low firepower makes it tough to balance a battle with them. Unless it is against Italians, lol

Winter Whites at cmmods. Andrew Fox's Soviet whites, renumbered for late war German troops. Use for Chinese or Soviets vs USA after the fall of Berlin. Since these would overwrite any other winter mod, including my other Korea mods, use McMMM to swap them. Always have a backup. Soon I will do Andrew's late war US airborne arms for summer and winter, without the 82nd ab patch. I have also done a US white uni from MikeT's Finn CMBB mod. Thanks to Pyewacket's converter, I remade Hans' Small Battles, Chosen Few Korea 1950 into CMAK. I intend to convert Task Force Smith also, but its huge size means it will take a while. The dual Korea flag on my site makes a great VL flag.

Thanks MD, at least the ammo makes sense. It may be historical to have them with Springfields. I that case did the French get leftovers that were "good enough", or did they feel more comfy with bolt action? Maybe the French turned down an offer of M-1's. The Marines didn't want them early on.

Sequoia, I had to go look at CMAKdb. The firepower of the Italians is worse than the Free French, lol. Except for the Airborne. You can use the AB after 43 or the uniforms get all screwd up. I guess if someone wanted to make a battle with Vichy vs someone they could do a uniform mod and the flags. RE: your question, probably a good fit.

The more I ponder this situation, the more it puzzles me. I just don't understand BFC's idea of Springfields. If the early war French have MAS rifles, later they should have brought them along or received kit from the Brits, LE's like the rest of the CW troops or the USA, M1's. Most countries in the CM series used standardized ammo. Did the Springfield share ammo with one of the above? Were they leftover from the Marines or something? Did they capture a warehouse full of them? I can't imagine someone in power shipping a boatload over just for the French. Can someone help me understand?

MD, given the title, this thread could be highjacked into any sticky request. Hopefully the 2nd patch issue will be dead soon and we can start the 3rd requests.

Now that's pretty scary.

Since it's a slow day in the forums, I thought I'd drag up this thread. Fun to read what we were looking for in CMAK before it came out. There are some good French battles recently and I wondered about the use of Springfield rifles by the French in CMAK. Seems to me they would have gotten Lee Enfields from the Brits or Garands from the USA. Since they have USA uniforms, I vote for the Garands.
