  1. Skeptical is good, in the internet! But you know, you have every opportunity to go browse the WeBoB forums and find out what kind of people are there. You can send us emails and scope us out too. Play some games with us. If you don't like us, then you've done your homework and gained. If you just pass by ... it's your loss *shrug* Cheers, GaJ.
  2. If you reinstall the game all the BMPs will be back the their original. If you do that, you should also delete the .mcd files that McMMM created and the CMxx_Baseline directory that it created. Then you can fire up McMMM again and reinstall whatever mods you want. GaJ
  3. Sorry that McMMM goofed for you in that case - irritating! This is one of those things that "theoretically can't happen, but McMMM checks to make sure" ... and sure enough once in a blue moon it does happen. If ever you find out how to make it happen reliably, do let me know, 'cause I'd love to be able to stop it happening completely! GaJ Edit: maybe I should have a less scary warning message  Sorry about that. I really wasn't expecting that message to be displayed to anyone other than me while I was developing!
  4. It means McMMM has managed to get confused about what mods have been applied, in a way that I wasn't expecting at all. It appears to McMMM that the BMP has not been changed by McMMM in the past, and yet McMMM has a record telling it which BMP replaced that one in the past. You're not totally screwed, though it may mean that McMMM can't uninstall that Mod. If it keeps saying this in an irritating way, or you need some help getting something sorted, post again. If it just said it once, but now its not complaining anymore, you should probably just carry on... If you want to "make sure" you're cleaned it up you can "start again"... - Use McMMM to uninstall all the mods. - Delete the .mcd files that McMMM created - 'redo' the mods. If you can reproduce this error message, in a way that I could copy and get the same message, it would be fantastic. I haven't yet been able to persuade McMMM to get confused in this way, so I can't find out how it happens or stop it from happening again! GaJ
  5. Thanks! It's interesting that most "common knowledge" out there says "Oh, one is CAD the other is gaming" and leaves it at that, assuming that the Quadros is therefore worse for gaming. I guess I'll just hafta get one and see GaJ
  6. Yeah. Dell, at least, don't seem to have figured out that "business" people might want a "business" laptop (with the warranty, Stike-zone construction etc) but not actually for doing CAD on The Quadro NVS 140M is a 'turbo cache' model, which means it is using a 'shared memory' scheme for some or all of its video memory. That tends to slow performance down noticeably Wonderful, eh? Give a disadvantage a nice name like "turbo". Do you know if you can use the GeForce drivers with the Quadros card to get the optimisation for gaming rather than CAD use? GaJ
  7. Will CM run on NVidia Quadros NVS 140M ? Any more general thoughts on this card: it is what comes in the Dell D830, which I am considering buying as my "do everything work/play" machine. Are there driver/performance issues for modern games with this "business" oriented card. (If only Dell made Lattitudes with GeForce cards, but they don't ) Thanks! GaJ
  8. And that's why at WeBoB we screen people for their commitment to finish games before signging them up. Bloody frustrating when your opponent just drops (usually when they are losing). Doesn't happen at WeBoB much... GaJ
  9. Yes, that's what I was saying. I think it also means you have little hope of assessing the balance of the scenario. Although you clearly didn't say it, an implication one could take from both your postings is that you were thinking that it was rather in favour of the Axis. This is just yet another entry in my scrapbook of evidence that players really can't assess the balance of scenarios from one playing, even though they always think they can. Especially in "strange" circumstances (such as vs as an opponent who's seen it before). You think you can "allow" for that, but you can't. GaJ
  10. If you're evenly matched opponents normally, and its a balanced scenario (which it is) then it's no real surprise if you're going down to him, given he's played it both sides! You might be having trouble stopping Tigers, but remember that unlike a blind-playing opponent he knows what he _doesn't_ have to worry about... GaJ
  11. No, it's not debatable. Men in out of command break far more easily than men out of command - this is simply a CM fact. The morale bonus is applied on top of that. Was the other squad in command? GaJ
  12. The CM AP modelling is RETARDED. I've _never_ had an AP shot go through more than one tank! GaJ
  13. Yoo hoo - BFC! You out there? Time to lock this one up... GaJ
  14. Note: Naverthingy isn't AP, right(?), it's close range HE, targetting troops. GaJ
  15. What he said. Once you've come into a forum yelling CM is RETARDED , it's pretty hard to retract, even in the face of overwhelming evidence that you goofed GaJ
  16. ROFL! I was wondering why I'd never seen this crazy behaviour that Squat's been moaning about. The units aren't even in command?! Then what do you expect? (I do agree with Redwolf's beef about the actual orders the AI gives when panic happens, but it really doesn't affect gameplay that much... it's irritating at worst). GaJ
  17. Well there's the high contrast terrain mods being discussed in a thread just below here: those guys just keep improving them!
  18. Congrats to Cabe & the other people who helped him track this bizzare symptom to its cause. GaJ
  19. For best performance, make sure you have the display "centered" not "display adapter scaled". GaJ
  20. Oh - is "Nemesis" the same as "Nemesis Lead" in WeBoB?
  21. I agree the Tebourba is a good scenario (except for one tiny mistake: it's raining and the ground is set to dry!!) TDSTG is not too bad, kinda run of the mill. Tebourba is excellent: very clever map with many choices. GaJ
  22. Phew! Thanks! (Amazing how much more crap Cemetary is for cover than Rough!) GaJ.
  23. I went to look up some of POS's articles in FraGMent today and found a broken web site! Please don't tell me all that good stuff is lost!? Please do tell me how to find it's new home, if the old one is broken! Thanks, GaJ
  24. And make sure you check out: We Band Of Brothers There are plenty of people still playing, they just don't hang out here so much anymore. GaJ
