  1. Hey Lars, there's even room for your mine-clearing-kid [ August 15, 2003, 10:25 AM: Message edited by: eichenbaum ]
  2. A lot of women fought in the war. If there was a shortage of men they would throw anyone into the battlefield. Especially in Russia. Would they interrupt the battle if they broke a nail ?
  3. My God! You poor, poor benighted game orphan. How was I to know?! Probably the best way to mark this passage to game manhood is to cut off the tip of the little finger of your off-hand, and send it to Grog Dorosh, Somewhere in Canada, via Fed-Ex. Don't worry over much about the exact address. They're pretty much used to this sort of package showing up in Manitoba, eh? </font>

  5. Cloisters and Abby's If CMAK will be released and you want to play a scenario where you can attack or defend Monte Cassino (Anzio, Italy), a few tall buildings and a church doesn't look the same as the real Abby. There's also a big difference in the construction of these kinds of buildings. The basements beneath the structure for example. In CMBO and CMBB you can't put any units in basements because there aren't any. After bombing by the allied this complex was turned into ground zero : How do you want to hide the Germans ? With the sewer-move ? There are a lot of Abby's and Cloisters in Italy.
  6. Capturing a General is just one example of many situations that occurred in WW2. If you only want to play Tiger v.s. IS-2 battles that's fine with me. I know that there are a lot of other players who would like to manage the whole operation and not only the tanks and guns on the front. There are players who would very like to practice Blitzkrieg in CM. This can't be achieved on a 800x800 map but I certainly can be done on a 3000x3000 map. (max. 3000x4000) <center> </center> The Germans found it very important to scout the area before entering it with tanks and guns: The term Motorised for Germans also meant the use of motorcycles. If you look a few postings back you'll see a typical German motorcycle. With 2 man crew and a MG mounted, this vehicle is much more effective then a truck or kübelwagen. It's armed, it's fast and has good off-road ability's. Now way you can compare a motorcycle to a kübelwagen or a truck. Playing a huge battle with Blitzkrieg tactics creates the need of vehicles that can keep up with the reconnaissance task that some units have. I would rather not use a truck or kübelwagen in enemy territory. You cannot get off the roads and hiding such vehicles is almost impossible. The MG mounted on the fast motorcycles also give the units enough firepower to get the hack out of dangerous situations. Reconnaissance is a tactical move and is not 'gamy'. How it's done by CM players is an other thing. Of coarse does the scenario need to have the space to use these moves. Eichenbaum
  7. Strange ideas you have there. You don't have to reflect your psychomimetic visions of incestual situations to me. That your sister didn't paid attention to you in your childhood is not the issue here. Looks like you're having a sister-mounts-anything-but-me-syndrome. Do you get angry if you hear or read the word Horse ?
  8. You might want to consider the possibility that people like to play campaigns with CM. I could make one up where the Russians made some progress by capturing a general of the German army (which has happened). What kind of vehicles would you expect in the final attack ? And what is wrong with Motorcycles as recon units ? [ August 14, 2003, 07:20 PM: Message edited by: eichenbaum ]

  10. Ever encountered a PAK gun in CM ? ( Scan by www.eichenbaum.org ) I have showed you pictures of Germans. The Russians had more horses then trucks. And with what should cavalry move on the battlefield ?
  11. Some say that horsers & bicycles weren't common in the WWII frontlines. Now I had to find some proof. Only after 5 minutes of searching in my library I have found a nice poster in a Signal magazine (June 1942). <center> Now, are these guys going to their picknick or what ? </center> ps. Now I'm stunned my self... looking closely I can see horses, bicycles, motorcycles and closed trucks ! I know this is not a combat situation but WWII wasn't always fought with nice prepared battles. 12. Sherman Bulldozer with armor Why ? Cos they're boyz toyz !
  13. Unusually Wooden : Yes bicycles would be a realistic touch,I knew an elderly lady last year from a village just outside Tallinn and eagerly asked her to tell me what it was like when the panzers rolled through in 1941 en route for Leningrad."Oh,we never saw any tanks, only a few Germans on bicycles" she replied... Certainly. I live in the Netherlands. The Germans collected every available bicycle for war purposes. It's still folklore in the Netherlands to say to a German : "Hé du, gib mir meinen fahrrad zurruck !" (Hey you, give back my bicycle!) Holland is famous for it's bicycles
  14. Screenshots & Photoshop : 1. Pick your scene in CM 2. Hold down the keys [crtl]+[alt]+[print screen] 3. Use [alt]+[tab] to switch to your desktop 4. Start photoshop 5. Create a new document [crtl]+[n] 6. Paste the clipboard content [crtl]+[v] 7a. You can crop this picture if you like 7b. Ore resize it with Image size 8. Save your picture with save for web as jpg or gif. (keys : [ctrl]+[shift]+[alt]+ )
  15. There's already a topic on that. http://www.battlefront.com/cgi-bin/bbs/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=8;t=003965;p=1#000002

  18. Noticed that also. Same as the special name for units (you can submit in the editor)
  19. A2 will the last scenario which will be released like A1 and B1. There are coming some major changes in Operation Storfang : </font> Because we have now very very detailed maps of the area of Sevastopol with high resolutions !!!</font>We have found satellite pictures in black & white and in infra red (for showing forests en agriculture)</font>We have found detailed strategic maps of the operation how it really was done in 1941 / 1942</font>We have found lots of original reading material of Operation Storfang on paper ( like the full range of Signal Magazines from 1942)</font>A1, B1 and A2 are not fully correct in scale according to the new material. These scenarios will be kept separated from the new ones. Because of the changes, the password system will be removed, making it possible for everyone to play these 3 battles.</font>A brand new interface for managing the operation (and its files) is in development. It will look and play like an old platform game ( like the famous W.W.II game PanzerGeneral II ).</font> It will take some time before everything is finished but A2 will be released very soon. By the time that most of the players have finished this huge battle we will launch the new version of Operation Storfang. Eichenbaum
  20. Cold war in a 3d wargame has been done before. Operation Flashpoint ! This succesfull game has everything that you're wishing for Personal, I would very like to see WWII again in CMX2. Maybe more Japanese issues...? Eichenbaum
  21. Hereby I can inform you that nobody has used this e-mail address. Way f*ck*n cool man ! You're a bunch of loyal Generals!
  22. There's a difference between playing against the AI or against a human opponent. I have been playing the Blitzkrieg operation against a human player by e-mail. We both were applying micro management on almost everything on the frontline. "Time planning" with seconds and "thinking over" by days. We both enjoyed this kind of warfare where the mind comes first. On the other hand, I've been designing huge maps & battlefields of 9km2. A true blitzkrieg attack comes in huge numbers. With a 10000 unit points for 4 x 40 battles you can't fall back to micro management. This would result in months work instead of days. Such huge maps forces you to select whole company's at once an order a move. It a bit more in a General's position then an all-round field officer. However, these scenarios are made for playing human vs. AI. [ August 11, 2003, 04:34 PM: Message edited by: eichenbaum ]
