  1. Thanks for the interesting news, Unsobill, but where did you get it from? Don't think that BFT would ever give a firm date for a release, but am willing to be proved wrong.
  2. Eh? SFH Single Family Home SFH Safe Flight Hour SFH Slow Frequency Hopping SFH Society for Family Health SFH Software-Friendly Hardware SFH Spectrum Flight Hour SFH State Forensic Hospital (Michigan) SFH Symphysis-Fundal Height SFH = ? Something For Hamish? Somebody Faking a Hard-on?
  3. One thing I haven't read about with the Russian version is multiplayer. I gather that it hasn't been included in the initial release?
  4. Is it me, or do those trenches seem to be sparsely populated?
  5. "We don't need it do we? It's fake that's what it be to 'ya, dig me? Don't believe the hype..." - Public Enemy (But D-D-D-Do try the demo before buying...)
  6. yeah, I'm pretty concerned too. However, as long as users have the capacity to make our own scenarios to take advantage of the hopefully accurate physics and damage model I don't care what the scenarios are like.
  7. And I'd like to add my thanks to Daimyo for answering the call for more info on the Russian version magnificently. More! more!
  8. Hi Patboy, you don't need to worry about this having anything at all to do with CMX1! The significant differences that Moon was talking about will, I suspect, be more on the organizational and data side of things and have nothing to do with the deeper workings of the game engine itself. The 'close combat' reference was just to say that it will resemble that game more closely than CMX1 in terms of gameplay, except where close combat was top down, this game is 3D . Nothing more than that! Meantime we are waiting waiting waiting for Moons list of significant changes from the Russian version, and then the demo. Before Christmas.
  9. ... and while we're waiting could someone post something relevant to the title of this thread please? Whatever the differences between Russian and Bf versions it still would be nice to get some Russian opinions on this game.
  10. "very near future" means sooner than "coming soon" but definitely means it will be released before Christmas... ... ...but he's not going to say which Christmas. We've heard it all before.
  11. But really, you're using up good scenarios vs the AI. If you really want a good fight, PBEMing the scenario blind is the only way to go. If you have problems finding reliable opponents try one of the internet sites of wargame clubs. Trust me, once you start playing people its tough finding satisfaction with AI fights.
  12. On the Russian website, of course. He's fluent.
  13. This is the best one (but not by much). Think it would work just as well with AV, cause they really do have minds of their own (which turns it into more of a comment on AI than those stupit shuman commandaz like this one is).
  14. Hey guys, its not a big deal. When I wrote it I wasn't sure of the relationship between the different developers and it seemed reasonable to me that some sharing of ways and means would go on. Its only slightly embarrassing that a thread that I started a year or so ago resurfaced like some monster from the deep. So, MM, no offense taken (or indeed from anybody else), and Colin, thanks for your support, though it wasn't really necessary.
  15. lol! Don't need the background to appreciate it.
  16. Sure, we been shot down many times, we're still good to go.
  17. Actually, I've been looking for a decent recipe for lamb casserole.
  18. I want to see a shot down planes crew bail out, recrew an enemy AT gun and take out the lousy tank that shot it down in the first place. Can we do this? I would wait an extra week for it to be implemented, but no more than a week, mind.
  19. Yeah, but they must have more reason for announcing a 3 week contest than liking the number 3. We can safely assume that it won't be released before then, umm can we? Anybody taking bets on it?
  20. Obviously they cannot release the game until the winners of the name contests have been declared. The Armchair general finishes November 5, so we can say that its going to be after that. Perhaps just a couple more weeks? However, can anyone find an end date for the Battlefront one? If there isn't one then I guess it means they can extend the contest indefinitely :{ edited to change the title: please scroll to the end of the thread to read the "what would you give BFT to release this game" witticisms and feel free to add your own. 21. They've said many times before that they are working on getting the game engine right before committing themselves to the graphics. Seems like a reasonable way to go about it to me. Who wants to eat a toffee apple if the apple is rotten?
  22. Thanks! I didn't find the article. You can find the the link to the video report at the top right of the page that Der Alte Fritz posted.
  23. Not of much relevance to CM, but interesting video on the front page of BBC http://news.bbc.co.uk/ - sorry can't post the link because its a pop up. Seems an SS officer was making a home video which somehow ended up in a church in Devon. Shows a forced labor camp in Southern Russia. Apparently the first time that such a video has been found.
  24. Anyway, back to the subject of the topic, Sgt_Kelly, 'hull down' refers to the shooting tank, not the tiger. So in this case the tiger can only 'see' the upper hull and turret of the sherman: its the sherman that's hull down not the tiger (unless I'm missing your pt??) Its still problematic because from the position of the tiger, it would seem that the angle is working to negate the slope of the sherman, reducing the amount of iron the tiger's shot would have to penetrate. The sherman might be hull down, but its even more vulnerable than it would normally be. This is the Tiger Valley scenario? Lots of fun in that one.
