Wooden MG bunker taken out from front?
Panzertruppe replied to Monwar's topic in Combat Mission: Beyond Overlord
Yep....in play testing my scenario "Crossbow" ( At the Scenario Depot) both PIAT and grenades work well on taking out a wooden bunker. The PIAT did take out a bunker from the front as did grenades, but more often with success from the flank then the front. Bill [ September 17, 2003, 03:03 PM: Message edited by: Panzertruppe ] -

If you email GregorBellmann@CDV.com he can send a patch CD free of charge. If you don't get a response in a few days I can send you all the patches on a CD. Bill -

Barbarossa To Berlin For Sale
Panzertruppe replied to merkava's topic in Combat Mission: Barbarossa to Berlin
EB games will give you maybe a 1.49 for it! And please...lets not mention "GI Combat" anymore!( I saw Eric Young working at a Burger King last week). Besides...in a few weeks CMBB-SE will be out for 29.95! -
Should briefing details include tactical orders?
Panzertruppe replied to lucero1148's topic in Combat Mission - Scenario Talk
It would depend on the scenario. In my "Crossbow" scenario I left out the "location markers" just because I wanted the player to "find" the V1 site threw the fog...not just able to head for it by following the blue name. I like to have "surprises" in my scenarios so the briefing has to keep the "surprises" hidden. -
The Geforce 2 family of cards will work very well with CMBO-SE. If your in the U.S...look for great prices on these cards at "Best Buy" (under 40 dollars)....and if you bring your CPU in when you shop at Best Buy they can install the new card...disable the i810 in about 20 minutes. Good Luck Note...you will not need to download any Lo-Res graphics after the new card! While at best Buy 19.95 will buy you another 128 megs of ram also( good improvement to your system). You can download Lo-Res terrain graphics for the game that still look good( CMHQ). The version you have (CDV) use "mods"( for terrain and sound) made by other users that look better and more "crisp" then the original graphics..but put a strain on lower end computers. Just by adding more memory will help...but a better video card will greatly improve framerate. [ September 02, 2003, 06:12 PM: Message edited by: Panzertruppe ]

Note....if you purchased CMBO-SE (CDV version) then Hi-Res terrain graphics were installed automactically and will slow the game down with only 64 megs of ram...and if your using an integrated card like the i810 your not getting much memory for the 3D graphics(about 12 megs max). More memory ( about 128 megs more) will work well but you should consider a 32 meg video card also.

CMBB patch 1.03 and CloneCD not working
Panzertruppe replied to stefanpi's topic in Combat Mission - Tech Support
I'm sorry....I have been PC wargaming since 1985. I see a game I want...I visit the website...maybe try the demo....purchase it...load it up.....and play whenever I want. I understand that the "simple" way of gaming is absolete..but with all the "piracy" today and things like "safe disk" are being added to software...well...what other solutions do companys have to prevent people from "stealing" software? The "pirates" are the ones to blame...not the publishers. Note....is it really that hard to put a CD in the drive and close it? If you put your bottled water down and your cell phone....it's very simple. [ September 02, 2003, 11:59 AM: Message edited by: Panzertruppe ] -
Halflife uses the "Quake 2" engine. Look at "Day Of Defeat"(retail) it too uses the Halflife Quake 2 engine but hundreds of gamers are having problems running it ( a 7 year old engine) because it was "rushed" out the door without any playtesting( although the "free" Day Of Defeat 1.3) was stable! Corporate America!...don't you just love em!

CMBB patch 1.03 and CloneCD not working
Panzertruppe replied to stefanpi's topic in Combat Mission - Tech Support
"Clone" cd's?............After 17 years of computer wargaming...I'll never understand why the pirates need to "steal" software or the "yuppies' need to make copies of the original game? Hundreds of games...and all my CD's(original) work just fine. [ September 02, 2003, 10:11 AM: Message edited by: Panzertruppe ] -
Thanks Moon! Once again the old saying "if it works don't fix it"! come to mind. Remember SSI? They consentrated on fancy "eye candy" instead of gameplay after Mattel bought them up!...R.I.P. Many of the CM players still have 3 year old computers and don't have the money to upgrade to the "uber" yuppie computers (that won't run any games older then 2 weeks anyhow)! CMBO,CMBB are milestones in wargaming history...call CMAK an add-on if you want to...but it works! Bill

Patches wont install...
Panzertruppe replied to Gen. Failure's topic in Combat Mission - Tech Support
If you have the CDV version of the game make sure you download only the CDV patch...not the Battlefront patch. Also...because of the size of 1.01 it may be wise just to have CDV send you 1.01..1.02..and 1.03. You can email Gregorbellman@cdv.com and he can send you a patch disc for CMBB. Bill -
CMBB....Retail?
Panzertruppe replied to Panzertruppe's topic in Combat Mission: Barbarossa to Berlin
Thanks Matt! I'll put my order in! I enjoy CMBB but with my 56K the "special Edition" version is a must have for me! -
New here... seeking the best MOD's for CMBB.
Panzertruppe replied to Godflesh's topic in Combat Mission: Barbarossa to Berlin
I would like to say....any mod(skin) made by "Juju" or "Andrew" will be a great addition to your game! Bill -
112e is european version ?
Panzertruppe replied to Anticulturist's topic in Combat Mission: Beyond Overlord
Hi, Because of restictions in the European market(no swastikas...no SS insignia..ect) CDV had to change the names only. The units are in there...just with different names (SS is Waffengranadier). There are some mods that change the CDV version to the original names. Look for them in the "newbie help files" or do a search. Besides the names the game is the same as the Battlefront edition. Bill -
EB games are now advertising the release of CMBB (Combat Mission 2). Are any mods being included is this CDV release and extra scenarios like CMBO-SE?

Politeness: giving some slack
Panzertruppe replied to Donan's topic in Combat Mission: Barbarossa to Berlin
"A fair number of fledgling commanders are also put off by the snobbery of those hardcore grognards who dominate some newsgroups and seem to spend most of their time arguing...often in the most caustic, intemperate language..about microscopic issues of "realism" with all the narrow-minded fanaticism of medieval clerics." "Ignore them! They want newbies to think wargames are hermetically difficult like the High Priests of any cult, they nurture their elitist attitude because they like to believe they have achieved a level of superior expertise though years of excoriating study and,one assumes, heroic self-deniel of simple, earthly pleasures." (William Trotter) Hell.....I enjoy helping the newbie! And like reading what the "grogs" have to say!
