  1. Thanks guys.....I'll stick with the older drivers as they have never had any problem with this machine.
  2. On an older P3-866 with a Geforce 2 MX/200 what are the best drivers to be using for the CM games and all games in general? (CM and dozens of other games work perfectly now but driver version is 4.13.0001.2311). Do we need an upgrade? Thanks Bill
  3. Yep, anything in the Nvidia family although I'm still skeptic about those FX cards. They may work with CM but so many other games have issues. A nice Geforce 4 is good choice! Bill
  4. Cool picture...but why are you using the mountains from a golf game? ( They do look real nice Matt). [ October 30, 2003, 12:27 PM: Message edited by: Panzertruppe ]
  5. That I believe is the "Johann Deere" 88. Himmler used it for the the famous "Bowl cut" hair style used by the SS. Rumors are 100 men could get a haircut in one pass.
  6. The original CMBB came out about a year ago. The CDV "Special Edition" just came out a few weeks ago. Why is it 45.00? Because it's still the best tactical wargame you can buy......period! With the Special Edition you get many more scenarios and around 450 megs of the best "mods" for the game. Note.....most of us that are CM veterans believe the games are "priceless". 7. I'm also a Panzer Elite player. I have found the Talonsoft "Campaign" series of games to be exellent for creating CM scenarios. The "Close Combat" games also are great for referance material. Panzer Elite is more of a "sim" then a tactical wargame. bill [ October 24, 2003, 10:19 AM: Message edited by: Panzertruppe ]
  8. Sounds like a great battle. I'll give it a try....and congrats on your first scenario! Bill
  9. I had a similar problem with an integrated card. I was able to install a Geforce 2 card and disable the I810 card. I did not have a AGP slot open so I had to buy a PCI Geforce 2 card. Hope this helps but"Schrullenhaft" is the resident expert so his advice should be taken. Bill
  10. Nope.... WW2 has always been my favorite gaming platform. Partly because when I was growing up heroes like Patton, Audie Murphy, ect were recognized "as" heroes. When I was a teen there was Korea...then Viet Nam,The Gulf War,Iraq....and no heroes...thanks to the protesters and politics or the term "I'll see you in court". The movie "Saving Pvt Ryan" brought a whole new generation of WW2 games and new players to this great hobby. Although the market is overwhelmed by all the new WW2 games always being released I could never get tired of playing the next "Stalingrad" or "Battle Of The Bulge" game just like the folks who wait for the next "Star Wars" game.
  11. Personally I would go with the Compaq. My last 3 computers were Compaq. I guess I just like the reliability. I currently play CMBO and CMBB on a Compaq P3-866 with wonderful performance and this computer is 3 years old and never had a "hicup"! I still run older games on my Compaq P-233 and the computer still runs as good as it did in 1996! Bill
  12. HappyDog....... I have both CMBO and CMBB I can sell you. I have recently bought the "special editions" of both games so I have the originals just sitting around. If your interested you can email me at Rockeye72@msn.com.
  13. The manual is nice with the CDV CMBB-SE version (over 230 pages). When I bought CMBB from "Chips And Bits" last year (CDV European) it was a mere 82 pages!
  14. I picked up the CMBB-SE retail version today and I'm very pleased. I have the original but with a 56K, downloading mods is a pain so the Special Edition is well worth my money. I was happy to see my favorite modders work on the bonus cd ( Andrew, JuJu,ect). Also the CMBB-SE is all patched up....has new scenarios...and the SS units are present! Thanks Battlefront,CDV,all the modders. and scenario makers..and a special thanks to "Rune" for helping to make this Special Edition worth the purchase.
  15. I have CMBB-SE (CDV) you have to install the game by going to "My computer" and clicking on your hard drive..then click the installer. Once the game is installed you have to have the CD in the drive then click your desktop icon to start. When are you getting the "no cd" error? Note....the CMBB-SE is 1.3 so no patching is needed.
  16. Yes...the CDV version is at 1.12 so does not need patching. You also should not be getting an "install" at all when you insert the game disc because the CDV version of CMBO-SE does not have an auto-installer. Once the game is installed you have to have the CD in the drive first then click on the desktop icon to start.
  17. Hmmmmm......no cd patch? Sounds like CDV's "Safe Disc" is doing it's job. Note.....If you have the CDV retail version, just install as normal.....when you put the game disc in and the "install" option comes up just cancel out and click on the desktop to start the game. ( it's a CDV problem). If you have a illegal copy of the game (warez, ect) then shame on you......you won't find any help here. Note.....The CDV version of CMBB has a faulty auto-installer not CMBO-SE. [ October 18, 2003, 05:12 PM: Message edited by: Panzertruppe ]
  18. You guys crack me up!!! I bet your parents had to hide the presents instead of putting them under the Christmas tree when you were kids! Oh.... by the way if Steve or Matt reads this my good buddy "BILL TROTTER" (wargaming guru, expert on warfare,PC Gamer writer, the guy who can make your game a HUGE success) asked me if you guys could...you know just tell me when the game will be out? I won't tell anyone else.....I might even buy it if it's any good.
  19. There are also a few mods floating around that change the SS back to there original names and emblems in the CDV version.
  20. Just go to PirateCentral@dumbass.com.
  21. Heck I started my CM addiction with CMBB...when the wife got me CMBO for Christmas I was already spoiled by the great looking AFV's in CMBB! Part of the whole CM experiance is custom tailoring the game to the individual player. That is what makes the series the best!
  22. Hmmmmmm...I have had over 300 people download my 3 scenarios in the last 6 weeks and have not gotten 1 review for any of them! I even posted on my first one that I would like to have feedback so I can improve my scenarios and see what the other players want fixed. Even if you say my scenarios are the worst you ever played....let me know why so I can improve. Bill
  23. Yep......take turns winning....or you may be having R&R on the couch...by yourself!
  24. Did you try the red arrows in the upper right hand corner?
  25. Yep, I know Michael! I don't have a DVD player on my computer.....stupid PC gamer! Anyone want a DVD with tons of demo's...encluding CMBB? Bill
