Well, guess your not fun. You could check on this yourself, perhaps there is already a counter punch to a surprise attack (note Subs have a very low defece so there would be no damage if its surprsed when moving). There is a lot packed into the SC games HC produced and one of the best parts if learning these through playing them. Editing my post at #8. -

Minor Allies
Iron Ranger replied to arado234's topic in Strategic Command 2 Blitzkrieg and Weapons and Warfare
I'm not saying they should 'block' each other. But that they should have seperate rolls, and not add % when checked againt axis diplo %. And from what I read, Turkey only joined the allies to prevent the USSR from making a grab at there land in the east. Having UK back them made USSR think twice about this, remember they had (USSR and USA) split Iran at the time and while they worked together for lend lease the two 'allies' were doing thier best to make long term deals with the locals to stab each other in the back once the war was over. -
Minor Allies
Iron Ranger replied to arado234's topic in Strategic Command 2 Blitzkrieg and Weapons and Warfare
Turkey did join the allies, under the UK primarly to avoid the pressure USSR was putting on it. One of our histroy nuts could say exatly but but this would be a good case of 'chits' NOT adding up. -
So were do people meet up these days for PvP online? Or due to the complex nature of the game does everyone now play only PBEM?

Minor Allies
Iron Ranger replied to arado234's topic in Strategic Command 2 Blitzkrieg and Weapons and Warfare
I think since we are talking about bland 'pressure' to get minors to join one side or the other we can put it down and poltical pressure and so... West vs East would not add up. So eather you join the fasits, the commies or the 'free' side in the war. -

On getting minors to join. Shouldnt the USSR diplomance not add up with the western allies? So lets say USSR puts 2 chits on Spain, Axis 2+1 chit, and UK+USA 3 chits. Over all they would block each other, after all you cant supply USSR and UK units from the same source. -

Jolly, I think you hit it right on the head. Axis needs to be perfect against good allied (experiance) play... or plain lucky in tech. And impressive guts in playing the 'king' and sticking to it for so long, I know I couldnt do it as I like wild, odd ball games vs Terifs thats just useless. Hmm have yet to play v8, I could fit in one PBEM (mirror) this summer. Someone interested drop me a note. -

I think your missing a few key points Laim. The fall back if england continued to fight would have been Canada and India, not Egypt. That would have gone to Italy pritty fast once the puppet goverment was installed (or kept english under the new king). The other is that Stalin was very focused internally. Yes he was watching Germany but never would hvae been ready to attack Axis Eroupe untill 42. Granted there are some works outthere that say his generals were pushing for a early attack... these are the same guys that survived the purges because they were A) Stalins drinking buddys and fools Good commies but stupid C) Had no idea of modern warfare and idiots. Not a group of top commanders able to conduct an attack I would think. -

Iron Ranger replied to foko's topic in Strategic Command 2 Blitzkrieg and Weapons and Warfare
While I dont have WaW from what I read here this is no different then very experanced air units in SC2. I have to think that perhaps taking another look at the experance gained/lost for air units need to be done. Perhaps a simple X .5 for its formula will work well. Or make them like the rockets of old, exp doesnt effect the unit from sheading damage when attacked/counterattacked. -
Axis Queries
Iron Ranger replied to voncasey's topic in Strategic Command 2 Blitzkrieg and Weapons and Warfare
1) Middle east depends greatly on what force's you have there and long term plans. If you want Iraq as an ally DOW Syria, 25% chance that will bring them in. But USA will jump readyness alot. 2) Moscow & Krusk are my std objectives by winter 41 but thats asking for alot. Just short of them should be good. 3)Wait till USA enters unless you dont care, then take them now but DOWs will jump readness up alot. And how is this different then SC1, its one of the great features/problems with these style of games. So easy yet deep enough to take hours to play out vs experenced players, but as you said that means half a work week gone. IE I play more PBEM now, I prefer IP but dont have the time for it normally.
