  1. Fall 39 The foolish germanys have invaded Poland and France & UK DoW her. Not ready they hope the poles can hold out till the summer. Full out push on Poland the first two turns, several units get railed to the Belgium border after Warsaw falls on turn two. Turn three AND four go clear for axis while allies face mud, as you can imagine it was a punishing fall for the french troops. To top it off Canada didnt join till turn 5 so UK is fairly poor as well.
  2. Started this game after our first aginst each other. That one finished with Axis taking London, Egpyt and Stalingrad in Mid 44. Std rules, only one house rule. Neutral Major navys need to end thier turn in or next to a home port.
  3. Nice review K, I'm surprised about the T34/76 and the T34/84. I always thought that it was the same base tank with simply a larger Gun, perhaps turret as well.

  5. Soooo Should we hope to see a reduction in Airfleet combat values vs 'Ground' units to 1. Incress the AA (& AD?) values by one. Add in a new tech called 'tatical bomber' and drop say... intel? IE you could eather build air fleets and put purely LR.. for scouting, purely Tactical Bomber tect.. for ground attack, or purely Jet tect for air combat. Or go all out and put all three on one unit making it cost 700+ MMPs and drain the bank of any conutry every time it took one damage!
  6. Insane or suffering from some kind of sickness? Ever seen the video of him at a Swedish diplomatic meeting? Parkisens (sp) or untreated siphilics (sp) is what reports in the last 5 years have been saying.
  7. Honor, that and most of them had been raised and trained to follow thier leader due to his blood not his ability (Kieser). The thought of removing the leader (granted there were alot of attempts) was totally alien to the high up/old prussian generals.
  8. Lots of good movies, I like a few made by the eastern nations (USSR mainly I assume) on the list. For me 1) SPR 2) The Cruel Sea 3) Das Boot (uncut) 4) Patton 5) Kellys Heros Honable mention to Casablanca, a clasic but just too stiff for pure enjoyment.
  9. Their was a patch that reduced the size by 3 (?) corps some time ago. So if you have not played the game in some months you might be thinking of that old transfer size.
  10. interesting thread: I loved the sticky (droped latter) on SC1 board where BF asked where people had heard about SC1. The varied responce's surprised me alot, I personally noticed it in a gaming mag write-up while fliping pages at some electronic store. ? Where is everyone else hearing 9heard) about sc2: many of us came over from the SC1 days... but we have alot of new people as well.
  11. Targul: other then scripts ect... try using the Railhead feature. Slow's the star trek telopoting of troops down alot and gives the game a move histoical flow.
  12. HC most of the problem with the 'big' neutrals is they are too easy to take. Sweden mainly, spain slightly and Turkey to a much lesser extent. All other minors (except swiss/Irland) were DOWed by somebody. But with this is the style of play most people choise; they all have a 'fall back' play in PvP fearing to come to any combat unless they must. In other words as axis if the allies are going to bail out of Egypt with little combat, and give me the front 6 citys in Russia for nearly free... hell I might as well invade all the other Minors once USA joins.... I"M NOT BEING CHALLAGED. If allies fight (wisely) for every inch of soil, the axis are not going to have the units or time to pull a full combat group out to take out minors. Partisans would be another problem I think. These three 'big' minors should have more active partisans, making you think about invading AND holding them Suggestions: Minor OOB: Make Spain, Turkey, Sweden.. and perhaps Swiss have better OOD/Tech/Entrenchemts. Unless its a one hit wounder invading most minors are something that is normally avoided. Partisans: Force garisons troops in at least the capital on the main three. Otherwise partisan units will pop up. I'd also suggest a roll back on the French Partisans, and perhaps some of the Greek ones. Accept the fact that if the allies want to only invest in tech and deny combat the the axis till 42 or 43 then they will have to live with the fact that the axis have taken all of eroupe. In fact this is more realist then it seams, it just wouldnt be by DOW. If UK had abandoned Egypt with little fighting, and Russia had compleately abandoned White Russia and Ukriane.. how many minor in Eroupe (or the people of these areas) have said.. lets join the Winner because the other guys are not willing to even fight for themselfs. FYI: One reason for these pull backs is Mass'd air fleets are just too powerfull. Its too bad you cant adjust it so that a HQ can only support one Air Fleet at a time. Any others near by will need another HQ or be supportless. Added in is the effect on moral should be adjusted from the readness of the air fleet, not its strenght.   13. Without saying you need to mod SC2 to what you want Targul, what do you feel needs to be changed to make it 'feel' more histoical vs fantsy? What scripts or options need to be changed on the std game?
  14. With out control of the Denmark straights your navy might just sink sooner then latter. Add to that the bump in Moral and that now you have to fight through Denmark go get to Norway (if you want it) and you have a recipe for the axis time table getting several pushed back.
  15. Germany by its self, even with Poland, doesnt have the MMPs (resources) to take on Russia and win. So a one front war, ignoring France at your back will lose in the long run, a very short long run. You could try and focus on the West first before heading over to Russia.. or even buy them out compleately. ASAP throw 5 diplo chits on USSR, and 3 more from Italy when they join. Take out Poland, France .. then focus on UK. Aviod the minors that USSR is protecting (Yogo/Turkey). Your really praying for hits on those Diplo chits, and your going to have to keep investing in them as USSR readness will start to incress no matter what in 41. Toping that off a few must have spots (London, Egypt) will have a hit on USSR readness. So while you could try and keep it a one front war by going to UK asap and buying off USSR.. its a pure luck approce.
  16. UK and USA just dont have the force pools to stop germany with USSR out. They might hold onto Italy and England but getting on mainland Eroupe (France) and defeating the DDR is very unlikely to happen.
  17. In the East: Air for germany, LR air if you can. Cheap corps for USSR, best if they have little tech and stay at supply 5 so you can buy them back for less In the Alantic: Corps in transports if you can afford it. LR carriers for the Allies, if not that then CN Subs for the axis In the West: LR Bombers work wonders, bombers in general if you afford a few... for eather side.
  18. Thanks for the review Minty, sounds like they got a few new ideas (oil, manpower) that are interesting. The focus on a liner line for combat however seams a poor idea. While I like the historical side of any war game, being forced to follow it all the time will remove any replayablity to the game.
  19. I lead my attacks with HQs, them old generals cant see much so they always run right into firefights.
  20. Has anyone broken down what each major power gets in return for each level of IT? Granted for say USSR this would be adjusted on what resources Germany had taken.
  21. Nice write up guys, really loved it. V3.. great mention Portsmith... Hitler was fixated on London, could have rasied hell with allied D-day by changing to this city V2s so inaccurte? From what I read the allie's had turned alot of the German spys in england, the V2 was on target at the start but through false reports back to german the turned spy's convinsed GHQ that they were hitting mainly south of the city and 'pushed' the main drop zone north of London were less damage was done.
  22. Aye, but a few thoughts Terif 1) Yea I remember that patch now, but if really we wanted more 'interest' in Norway we should make it apples for apples.... IE drop the hit on Russia for Germany DOW and change it to the same as Allie.... a risk Sweden will be effected. Now its a race for Norway (sometimes) as both sides can land on turn 4.. axis before allied but at much more risk due to navel supiority of UK + French fleet. 2) Ok, never tested the Iraq MMPs.. was told by one player it was double. sub1) While I wish we would see more 'effect' to DOWs; these NA minor states are last on peoples list so.... bla! sub2) Axis could have air power to stop the shipment of these MMPs while they cont control the Balic. So just saying Allies have Sweden therefor they should get the MPPs is not right. A convoy should be required for whoever control these mines. More options for riading, bombing ect the better.
  23. Nice idea Liam, we need more AARs and SS... can anyone post again on how to put up a SS of a SC2 battle map?
