  1. How many seperate units are in this scenario for each side. And the size of the map looks like it is 18km x ? Why 60 minute not 120 or more
  2. This new feature could be used to get what you want (Iron Mode) assign HQ units to a number and tell each player which HQ number he has control of. cons: No password per group (players can access other formations - players you trust will fix this) How you deal with assigned company assets. Could be fun to play at level 1 controlling 1 platoon while others control the other platoons in a company. Passing orders between players by email each turn with a 200 character limit for each 1 minute turn.
  3. HTMLMappingTool and CM Nothing really changes for the tool it can still be used with CMBN without changes. For new CM titles it would need a updated version that has all the new types added to it. As some ground types would be added (ie Grapevines may now replace bocage) but until I see it I cant really comment more. Just my two cents worth The better option at this time would be for Battlefront to add an export as XML button this way mappers can build fully detailed 1x1km maps in the editor and then export them to an external DB. Then an external person can build an xml parzer that can stitch togeather multiple maps to build larger areas or to remove the terrain types/buildings/flavour objects so the map can then be imported from CMBN to CM??
  4. These changes will be great 1 image from google for the ground detail Draw in ground detail 1 image from google for the elevations (put EV layers into google) Draw in Elevations Campaign wise I will have to see how large an image we can put into the background 4x4km may be a little large.
  5. just added Saint-Martin-de-varreville
  6. HTMLMappingTool can handle some changes in format in future releases of CMBN. Seeing as the HTML mapping process is seperate from the Click Mapping Phase. A change in placement or new ground types will not make a diffrence to the HTMLMappingTool. A few tweaks and it should work again. The HTMLMappingTool creates CSV files for each map. If one ground type is replaced with a new one. You can open the CSV in excel/open office and do a find and replace to quickly fix the references to the old one. Same with the ClickMapMaker as it uses a CSV table to hold the references to where buttons are found. Moving a button just needs to have its reference updated and all is good again. The only problem I can see is if the ground scale changes agian, but I dont see that happening in a hurry. (action squares and spotting routines will need bigger computers) What I would like to see is a way to insert/export a Map into the editor without having to do the screen clicking process. XML would be great and while your at it can we have the same for force selection.
  7. Well done Broadsword and sburke great battle. I hope we get to see the next battles too and how the complete operation is going. Keep up the good work.
  8. 1.5.4 fixed my problem and yes I should pay more attension, just found the report bug link in the program itself. Just for the record was a little tried when I posted and too much drink does not help either.
  9. I'm a aussie (GMT + 10) at the moment keeps giving this error and won't let me change the destination folder for dropbox. StoneAge
  10. As a developer I agree with you Thomm but the player in me just wants a xml map import. Then I could do away with the clicker and impove the process.
  11. HTML Mapping Tool version 1.1 The tool now has the ability to place bridges and a few other minor updates. I have started to change the links on buildings to match the way I do it on bridges with a linked image for each building (will take some time if anybody wants to create these images for me it will get done quicker) All you need to do is download the zip file http://www.dnnspecialists.com.au/CMBN/HTMLMappingTool-v1.1.zip and then extract it to your computer. When this is done you can view the help.htm in the help folder. This should tell you almost everything you will need to know and the current process I use. Next mission is to build a tool that will allow for the adding of Flavour Objects to the maps. I have been testing with the CMBN Click Map Maker and I can place flavour objects onto a map. The problem is that you can have 14 flavour ojects per sqaure of the map (I placed head stones). The other problem is that there is no way to set the direction without going into the 3D preview. Moon if your reading this can we get a compass built into the editor to set the direction of flavour objects in the map section. Hope you all enjoy the tool
  12. Broadsword56 is correct you dont need excel. That excel document is in there from a map that I was making, where I had to make a few hands on changes to things (ie copy the center out of one map into another already built map) I just find excel or open office handy sometimes as it will open the .CSV files with each item in a separate cell handy if you only need to move 1 thing in a file. Sorry about not putting what a CSV (comma Seperated Values) was in the help file but I was trying to keep its size down.
  13. Thanks Moon. still adding other ground types to it and trying to come up with an easy way to add flavor items.
  14. That is a great tip Broadsword56. I will be doing this way from now on, I will add that to the help file
  15. This tool is desgined to give CMBN map makers the ability to take full advantage of Google Earth, other arial photography, maps or anything that can be turned into an image. The tool allows you to place your image on a background layer and then build up the ground, roads and trees on layers. Each layer can be turned on and off independantly allowing you to still see the background image. Once completed the map is exported to a file to later be turned into a "click map", this click map is then processed by the "auto clicker" to build the map in the CMBN Editor. This is the first test release of this tool. (so it does not have all features completed yet i.e bridges, Modular buildings above 5 levels or flavor objects). HTML Mapping Tool runs locally in a browser (I use Firefox, have had it working in IE, have not tested Chrome or Safari) the other processing tools CMBN Click Map Maker and Auto Clicker are (PC only sorry mac guys) All you need to do is download the zip file http://www.dnnspecialists.com.au/CMBN/HTMLMappingTool.zip and then extract it to your computer. When this is done you can view the help.htm in the help folder. This should tell you almost everything you will need to know and the current process I use. Thanks to Japanzer for looking at this way back and to Broadsword56 for help over the last few weeks.
  16. a) a fix list is never too long Ok I give you this one c) that's the idea behind a change list so you don't have to keep answering the same questions about x bug a million times. each to his own though
  17. Good work here noob 1 suggested rule maybe: During the Axis Defensive Fire Phase or Russian Offensive Fire Phase. Allow a player to use one of his arty units to attack an enemy group. Results of this attack are: Prevent a moving unit from attacking in the next battle phase (represents disruption to the attacking unit caused by an arty barrage). for defencive units it will lower their morale or fitness -1 (represents disruption to defending units caused by an arty barrage). This rule would help limit amount of arty used in the CMBN battles as it can be used more in its true strategic role. The other advantage of this rule would be when a unit can see an attack from 3 sides developing the could prevent one of the units attacking. The change from 3 to 2 units attacking could make a major diffrence to the out come of the battle.
  18. On the left hand tool bar you will find a drop down called LAYERS: open the PRIMARY DATABASE and you will find a full list of things you can add to the maps. The one you want to click on is Borders and Labels.
  19. Google Earth Ctrl + Alt + T Hide/Show Toolbar. F11 Full screen mode - Toggles between full screen and window view for the Google Earth application. Ctrl + S Save Image - Saves the current view as an image to your computer. Ctrl + L Lat/Lon grid - Produces a latitude and longitude grid over the surface of the earth in the 3D viewer. Ctrl + Shft + O New image overlay - Produces the New Image Overlay dialog box. n Reset view to north - up - Rotates view so that view is north-up. u Reset tilt to top-down view - Resets angle to view scene in top-down or up mode. Left arrow Move Left - Moves the viewer in the direction of the arrow. Right arrow Move Right - Moves the viewer in the direction of the arrow. Up arrow Move Up - Moves the viewer in the direction of the arrow. Down arrow Move Down - Moves the viewer in the direction of the arrow. Spacebar Stop Current Motion - When the viewer is in motion, stops movement. How to set Map to preset viewing height: 1) Add a place marker from Toolbar (yellow push pin. if you already have one just edit it in your places list) 2) In pop up box under the VIEW tab set the RANGE: to x number of meters and click OK (I work in meters) 3) check ground scale in bottom left corner. 4) open Starting location from Places and ajust RANGE: Up or down depending on desired ground scale. Now when you click on your starting location the map will zoom in or out to your desired ground scale then press n and the map will rotate so north is at the top of map (i.e north is always up) How to get contour lines: you will need a 1px x 1px white dot or any color you like 1) zoom map out to see more area than you are mapping 2) Ctrl + Shft + O green lines will appear on the map, you can drag these out to cover your area 3) in the pop up box put in a NAME:. I tend to name them 20m, 30m, 35m etc 4) LINK: Find your white pixel and connect it. 5) set TRANSPARENCY: I tend to put the slider in line with the LOCATION tab 6) Open the ALTITUDE: tab and change dropdown to Absolute and enter an altitude: in meters and click ok You should now see this layer under places. layers can now be turned on and off using the check boxes How to get images: 1) find image you want 2) Ctrl + Alt + T hides toolbar 3) F11 Full screen mode (give you a little more image) 4) Ctrl + S opens popup to save image (will save the image once I have my google earth maps I overlay the 1947 black and whites to see the changes.
  20. just bumping this up the list. I am trying something with javascript, web browser and google maps to try and get an overlay map that can then use this tool to build the basic map.
  21. Mr X This is the best camp I have played so far. My play style is similar to Erwin's, use infantry to find them then take them out with the best weapon. My tanks tend to spend a long time at the back of the board and I tend not to use pioneers to blow holes in the bocage for tanks as I think that it would take longer to do than the super speedy work they do now. I like the fact that you spread out the victory locations and make many of them. The only Issues I have with the camp so far are: Battle 2: Tank crews with super scoped pistols taking out a full Sqd at 200m + Battle 1,2 ,3 and 4: First shell to hit a pather always takes out main gun. (3 in the first battle alone, boy was it hard to take out tanks after that) Battle 1,2 ,3 and 4: Troops being too close togeather when Heavy Arty Lands (not always american) Battle 1,2 ,3 and 4: American Homing Hand Grenades always hit that 1 nut that hold the tracks on And seeing as these are not scenario design issues that means so far this camp is 10 out of 10. Now 10 mins into battle 5 and totally loving it
  22. What format was the raw data in xml, proprietary or something else? I'm guessing that exporting it into an xml file is a large chunk of work and they don't want to just export the raw data as somebody may be able to re-engineer the data to open turn files.
