  1. Will SC2 have bi-weekly turns and regional weather conditions?....I really was not in favor of the winter turn which affected non winter areas like North Africa...what's funny is that in this SC2 forum, my post in this thread could be considered trolling.....go figure!
  2. Bill, I apologize for steering this a bit off topic, but I now have doubts about Guns of August....Frank made the comment that he does not care if the AI can beat a Human player as he is more attuned to the PBEM aspects of the game...I commented on his quote at the Matrix board....
  3. I am a tester for WaW and I can safely say that they compliment each other and are as different as night and day so you will not feel that you are playing the same type of game....keep in mind that SC2 will have a fantastic editor that many of us are as eager to get our hands on as the game itself...WaW, altenately, offers a nice WWII strategic game on all fronts with a good research and production phase as well, and while I think some may be turned off by WaW's area map, I know first hand that they will be making a mistake if they do...SC2 will still be the front runner in the strategic WWII European theater and you will have a tactical feel for the battles in SC2 that will not be present in WaW...I have no hesitation in recommending SC2 and WaW and will be looking forward to playing them both!.. 4. The Taskbar does obscure the bottom of the game screen, where the messages are, even at 1024x768.... but it's a minor nuisance at best... hmmmm....perhaps this thread should be moved to the General Forum as there would probably be a few people interested in this game over there.... 5. It's quite a good game...I'm always looking for games such as this to put on my notebook, without the need for a cd....many thanks...
  6. I sure hope the Med war in SC2 supercedes what was accomplished in SCI.....seeing some of the AI work in WaW on the Med front demonstrates how important and challenging it can be, even if it's not 100% perfect in its' execution as of yet....
  7. The manual would rival War and Peace for shelf space!
  8. Only think of it when someone posts about it!.....it's like telling a kid "You can have some ice cream if you do not think about an Elephant for the next 5 minutes!.....
  9. Good thing my lunch was digested hours ago....the thought of an unwashed crab infested tool does wonders for one's diet....
  10. Being able to have weekly turns will be great...I guess there will be the need to adjust unit movement costs to reflect this however...
  11. That's what I am doing for the Russian Civil War scenario that I would like to make as my summer reading has been devoted to this subject...I hope I can do the topic justice for this game..
  12. World at War (Matrix) is working on replay features which will allow you to replay single turns or the entire game...hopefully it will be a great feature and perhaps SCII will consider something along similiar lines....
  13. Have a read of this thread...will answer many of your questions..... http://www.battlefront.com/cgi-bin/bbs/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=34;t=000050 Perhaps this old thread should be a sticky!... [ July 13, 2004, 06:33 AM: Message edited by: J P Wagner ]
  14. Any chance that as an option, the game can be sold via a digital download?....keep the CD option of course, but it would be great if Battlefront would consider such a venture with their new releases........
  15. Wow, this is truly great. First, thansk for answering my question Hubert. Second, thanks for making time scale flexible. ...third, this is great, I really would like to have synchronous turns. By the way, do you realize synchronous turns make motorization much more valuable. Speed becomes more important since your plan may unravel if the other player gets there first. When you have alternating turns, you do not have to worry about the other guy getting there first and screwing up your line of defense. In synchronous turns, the first one there takes everything. </font>
  16. Matrix Games have started a Digital Download service for a few of their games...it's a great service, but I would not hold your breath waiting for it to come here.......
  17. This isn't rocket science. Take a look at the screenshots. All those tiles you see are available in the editor. You can literally pick out whatever you want and place it wherever you want. You won't have any "freehand" drawing ability, but all those bitmap tiles and sprites could be edited. Beware that there are LOTS of them and editing them would be a major project. </font>
  18. I do hope so, because leaving Italy and Greece undefended allowing you to use the units which should be on defence elsewhere, was an AI game killer...
  19. Dave...thanks for sharing some insight into the editor...If I may ask a question....how are coastlines, rivers and political borders made? ... Is there a freehand menthod when designing tile maps?
  20. I'm working on a prototype map for the Russian Civil War using Game Mapper just to see how it will look when completed.... [ May 23, 2004, 07:49 PM: Message edited by: J P Wagner ]
  21. I think you are overstating it a bit Bro..there are quite a few new ideas in this game that were not in SC1...Keep in mind that there is a way to go before the game is released and we are not privy to everything that will be in it... be patient as only time will tell whether you are right, and it is nothing more than a souped up version of SC1, or a vastly improved game....
