  1. Oh don't be a drama queen about it! The original post shoud be a closed thread sticky...
  2. I always wondered how a person acts when they run out of Ritalin........
  3. What combat modifiers or operations are affected by sand storms such as air ect.?
  4. Well since this turned into a wishlist, I too would have liked the 2D display....at the very least the graphics could have been modeled along the lines of TalonSoft's West/East Front series where you could toggle between the two views... If Hubert or Bill would say: "OK, we could do a toggle display, but the game will be further delayed", I would not mind the wait as it would be well worth it....
  5. I had resurrected an old thread concerning a player's view of the AI and I noticed ALOID's name...he was a very active poster in the early days and then just vanished, unless he changed his name... I have been culling through the early threads as some interesting history is there....some of the names and topics really brought back memories... In fact Kuni's post reminded me that I started out as J Wagner, but a lose of my password and a change in my Internet servce caused me to start up again... I think this was my first post...bitching about the demo.... http://www.battlefront.com/cgi-bin/bbs/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=18;t=000507 [ December 08, 2005, 09:56 AM: Message edited by: J P Wagner ]
  6. I had to revive this thread considering there is so much AI discussion regarding SC2...
  7. I still play it too and I consider it the last of the line of 4 good games (PG, PG2, Allied, and Pacific) as I never warmed up to the last few releases in the series...
  8. In Panzer General, IIRC you can go back to units which did not move their max amount of hexes and complete the move if so desired...just alittle "pain in the ass" quibbling on my part....
  9. Bill, was there any thought for allowing a unit to move more than once per turn? For example, in SC1 if a unit could move 5 hexes, and you commit to only moving one hex, that was all you were able to do.... I felt that was too restrictive when you consider that an infantry unit uses up all 4 action points whether it moves 1 hex or 5....if you have the ability to go back to a unit to complete a move, in effect using the remaining action points, that would make for interesting gameplay choices. This would allow swapping since you could go back to a unit.
  10. Who would have dreamed that Gregory Peck and Sir Laurence Olivier would be in a movie together that ended up in a WWE wrestling match!...classic stuff, though Brazil and Omen had Gregory feeling a bit peckish around Dobermans!
  11. Well in the case of SC1, the demo was released before the game and I'm sure many recall the problem that created!
  12. The AI is a strong selling point in any game so it cannot be ignored. Remember that this is a game that is supposed to have broad appeal and I'm sure we all want Hubert to profit financially, so having a good AI will help in that regard. If this was a niche' PBEM/TCP game only, the sales would not benefit Hubert or BF....
  13. Incredible at how a thread which was basically to be a travalogue turned into a steaming pile of horse****....
  14. There are people who pre-ordered Guns of August (originally ADANAC GAMES now MATRIX) 3 years ago and are still waiting for the game.
  15. You bring up a good point regarding the AI Gavrok as I wondered the same thing...since the AI was not ready for Blashy's AAR, what is its' current development status?
  16. Keep in mind that Blashy was playing with himself (uh, hotseat play that is) and was perfoming these turns quickly to provide us with a fast overview of the game. I would not take too much stock in which side won and how it reflects on the game at this point...
  17. Thanks Blashy for this Hotseat AAR, though of course my decision to buy the game was set the moment SC2 was announced, it will go a long way in helping newcomers decide...thanks again...
  18. This is supposeed to be an AAR to help promote SC2, not a damn political/personal forum...either start playing a new hotset game, and show screen shots of a quickly advancing game or get on with this one! I did AAR's for World at War and thankfully had a respectful crowd that appreciated the effort. But it is also the responsibilty of the testers to keep the game moving and ignore 99% of the distracting posts that will inevitably pop up (like this one!)....if one is going to comment on every nit that pops up, this AAR will be 10 pages long before the Fall of '41! So how about it...let's get these AAR's moving and perhaps have a separate commentary thread to accompany the AAR so the original thread will be devoted to the game turns without all of the dross.... 19. But does that mean the German player must attack an undefended Maginot Line hex, and reduce this defensive value to 0, before it can enter the square? If that is not the case, and the defensive value is only added to the unit occuppying the fort, then this value means nothing if the French units pull back, because then the German player simply occupies the abandoned fort....
  20. So how does the opening set up work out? What are the "fixed" deployments, if any? Are there penalties for moving some such units before certain dates/events (like the early Italian DOW for moving units in the Med in SC1)? </font>
  21. Unless these extra units are "fixed", players will probably pull these units out too...
  22. It looks like you can backspace/delete the current name in the gray box and then type whatever you want.
