  1. What's the difference in dates between the two days - VE day and the Russian victory day?
  2. We often hear of the best generals of the second world war, the Bradleys, the Pattons, the Mongomerys, the Rommels, etc etc - but what about the real stinkers? Obviously early in the war there were some pretty ordinary generals in charge before these guys came to the fore - people like... like... well I don't know coz I've never heard of them! So who WERE the bad generals of WWII? I'm talkin the real stinkers - someone who would make my piss-poor efforts at commanding look good! Educate me, please!
  3. ...and we wait with baited breath for his first post. Speak, oh chosen one! [/sarcasm off]
  4. or not... but there's a map for it! Joust! Choose your horse wisely, the German ones are much sturdier and hit harder, but the Yankee horses are fleeter of foot and quicker of rear attack! Only command allowed is "Fast", tanks must keep following the track and cannot stop unless immobilised.
  5. this is a turn based strategy game and having a real time option would take away all the strategical thinking from the game and leave it with only stupid mouse clicking </font>
  6. I beg to differ on the pacific theatre being boring - try looking up battles to do with Singapore, Guadalcanal, and Iwo Jima.
  7. OMG, Tank pr0n grogs... whatever WILL they come up with next?
  8. IMHO driving a tank within range of entrenched infantry loaded with grenades and other nasty tank-killing stuff doesn't really sound like an intelligent thing to do.
  9. Do they come with tungsten hooks? Whats its penetration value on a Trout IIJs upper jaw in August 1944?
  10. In DoD, the FG42 is almost the exact equivelant of the BAR. </font>
  11. Ok, a little OT, but in DoD the FG42 hits hard, has a good RoF, and has evil recoil - that said, I love using it!
  12. ROFL - do I detect a hint of sarcasm? Surely not - I mean these are uberfinns we are talking about!
  13. Naw, if we couldn't have horses in CMBB I'm pretty sure BFC won't code camels into CMAK .
  14. Thanks for the ideas people - my objective is to make the map so it follows the BoB Episode as closely as possible rather than what may have happened in reality. I'll try to match the specs of the Cromwell as closely as possible to whatever tank I may put in in its place. Thanx for the hint on "time warping" units Sergei - I'm sure that will come in handy in using actual paratroops instead of substituting for standard infantry. I'll defidently check out that CMBO scenario for ideas too - thanx Heinzbaby.
  15. Yep, as I stated I'd have to improvise using standard troops instead of paratroopers anyway so maybe substituting the cromwell for say.. a valentine wouldn't be too much trouble. WWB what do you mean? Allies have more tanks, despite poorer quality. Also I forgot to mention, in the movie as they are retreating from Eindhoven another 3-4 Cromwells are covering their retreat - so including them as reinforcements after a certain amount of turns could help even the battle somewhat.
  16. Just wondering if anyone has done said scenario - while watching it I thought this episode of BoB would be ideal for making as the numbers of troops/tanks involved are well within a CM-scale battle. This episode depicts part of Operation Market Garden where American Paras meet up with British Armour and attempt to capture/liberate Eindhoven but are repulsed by veteran SS units. I've tallied up some of the numbers for each side: Allied: - 4 Shermans + 1 Cromwell (reg/green) - Easy Company American Paras (vets/regs) Axis: - 1 Tiger - 1 Jagerpanther - 1 Stug IIIG (not sure of what variant yet) - 1 Halftrack - 1 Company of SS Troops Eindhoven - It's fairly hard to see how the town is laid out as there are really no distant/above shots for clues - however it defidently does have a church, a graveyard, and various large light/heavy buildings. Being that noone really plays CMBO anymore, I thought I might be able to do it in CMAK - however American Paras arn't available in September '44 in that theatre so I may have to use standard infantry instead. If anyone has any additional information or somesuch it would be greatly appreciated.
  17. JasonC, how about taking up Walpurgis Nights challenge, play him, and make the turns available to us mere mortals!
  18. Jeez, us humans sure can think up nice ways to kill each other. Scary innit.
  19. Been suggested many, MANY times, with a bit of luck and a stick... BTS will integrate it into CM2.
  20. My Grandfather served with the Royal Australian Artillery in Libya, he injured his back when the breech block on their gun didn't close properly and the shell slid back out - he caught the shell but stuffed his back in doing so. Was sent home for the remainder of the war. Slightly OT (non-WWII), my uncle served on HMAS Voyager but was transferred off it 3 weeks before it collided with HMAS Melbourne in 1964 - the Voyager sank with the loss of 82 men, had my uncle still been aboard theres a distinct chance he would have been killed as he worked in the engine room.
