  1. I hit the limit of five images per post with the OP. So, here are the rest of the screenies. ----------------------------------
  2. Hi all, just thought I'd let you know that I'm currently working on "Version 2" of my "Subdued" terrain mod. Here's the link for a preview/beta/WIP version if anybody would like to try it out. Flesh_Subdued_Terrain_V2.rar Note: the above link is to a RAR archive file hosted on my Fileserve account. I don't want to upload this to the repository until it's finished. Anyway, onto the screenies. --------------------------------------
  3. Just like to point out that it's not MTP, it's MultiCam, the commercial camo pattern that MTP was derived from (by combining it with DPM). Also, MultiCam is currently being used by some US troops in Afghanistan, e.g. 101st Airborne Division. Here's a pic:
  4. Enjoy - it was your nagging that got it released tonight - everybody else can thank you for being so persistent... Anyway, hope you like it - if not, let me know and I'll sort it out.
  5. Thanks!!! That means a lot to me as I've enjoyed lots of your mods.
  6. Okay folks, the upload to Fileserve is done. Here's the link: File name: Flesh_Subdued_Terrain.rar File size: 75.64 MB BTW if you don't have a premium Fileserve account you'll have to complete a "captcha" to download the file - just like you have to do on some sites to post a comment on an article (to stop comment spam bots). Anyway, enjoy and let me know how it works out for you etc. - I gotta go get some sleep now. PS I'll upload this mod to the repository tomorrow.
  7. Yup, just getting it out there for the more impatient folks first...
  8. "Houston, we have a problem..." - my login for CMMODS will only let me into the CMSF section of the site - as this is not a CMSF mod there's not much point in uploading it to the CMSF section. However, I have a backup plan - I've got a premium Fileserve account, so I can upload it there. The upload is cranking away in the background - my broadband upload speed is pretty slow - it's gonna take about 40 minutes or so. FYI the file is a RAR archive that was created with maximum compression and I added a recovery record - if you end up with a corrupt download for any reason you should be able to repair the file with WinRAR or any other decent archiver. Also, the size of the file is roughly 75 MB. I'll post here when the upload is done with the download link.
  9. First of all - thank you all for the kind and encouraging comments. I'm sorry that I haven't had time to reply to each comment individually but I've been working on this mod all night and all of today (still haven't got any sleep yet - determined to get it uploaded before I crash). Okay - preparing it for upload now (removing unused files to reduce the size of the upload/download etc.) It should be up soon - I'll post here when it's done. PS anybody who downloads this - consider yourself a beta tester - this mod was done in a hurry and hasn't had much in the way of testing - there could be some rough edges in there...
  10. Okay, "Flesh's Subdued Terrain" it is. Cool - here ya go:
  11. Okay, here's a couple of in game screenies: Note: this is me playing the stock scenario "Carbide Carbide" - hence the fog. Here's another, at a higher view level (above the "fog line"): Also, is the general consensus that this is ready for upload? If so, what do you reckon I should call it? "Flesh's Alternate Terrain"? Something else?
  12. Okay - here's a screenie at 13:00 without the fog (BTW I tweaked the colour of the green grass for more contrast between the grass and the trees, bushes, hedges and bocage):
  13. If you just want desaturated terrain, check out Vein's desaturated terrain mod on the repository. I decided to attempt a thorough makeover of the terrain: 1) Desaturated most of the terrain textures. 2) Replaced and/or tweaked the red dirt/earth textures, resulting in more brown/sandy coloured dirt/earth. 3) Replaced the default green and yellow grass textures with lower resolution files with a sort of "blotchy" look. I find them easier on the eye (lower contrast so less flickering while scrolling about). Also, as they are used a lot on most maps, the lower resolution results in a higher FPS (at least for me, anyway). 4) Also knocked up new ploughed field textures while I was at it. 5) Almost forgot - I also desaturated the foliage (trees and bushes), doodads (tall grass etc.), hedges and bocage. Here's a screenie:
  14. Another possibility? Abrams Tank Penetrated by "Mystery Weapon" (2003)
  15. Maybe you're thinking of this? (From: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/RPG-29) "In 2007, British officials confirmed that an RPG-29 round penetrated the frontal ERA and hull of a Challenger 2 tank during an engagement in al-Amarah, Iraq, wounding a crew member."
  16. Alex, these two links might be of help: http://www.mapsymbs.com/app-6a.html http://www.historicalsoftware.com/HSC/HSCmilsketch.htm I know these links have been posted on this forum before - I just thought I'd save some time by posting them again.
  17. Alex, check this link for info on NATO icons: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/APP-6A
  18. Not sure if anybody is interested but I might have a fix here. Even if it doesn't work in every case, it should result in higher frame rates, especially for computers that are low on RAM and/or have a video card that is low on video RAM. Attached to this post is a zip file that contains two batch files. To use the batch files, you will have to have installed a terrain mod for CMSF. If you don't have one already installed, check the repository, there are some good ones up there. Myself, I spent a good deal of time a while ago "mixing and matching" files from various terrain mods to come up with a good "mix" of files that worked for me. What these batch files do is modify the most commonly used terrain textures (grass and mud) by (temporarily) replacing them with the low resolution (smaller) versions that are used when the camera is zoomed out (if you know what I mean). This reduces the strain on both your system RAM and video RAM. You should also be able to play on larger maps, if you were having trouble loading them before. I realise this may not be to everybody's taste, but you can always uninstall if you don't like it. IMHO the end result makes the grass and mud textures look a little bit like their counterparts in the original "Operation Flashpoint" game (which I'm a big fan of). Anyway, put the files in the folder where your terrain mod is installed. I usually have mine in "\Data\Z\Terrain" within the game folder. Note: if you are running Vista or Windows 7, you'll probably have to run these batch files as Administrator if you have installed the game to the default location with your "Program Files" directory (unless you have UAC switched off). To install this little "mod" run the batch file called "install_light_terrain.bat". To uninstall and revert back to the way things were before installation, run the batch file called "uninstall_light_terrain.bat". Any problems, just give me a shout here or send me a mail (mail address is in my profile). PS if there is any interest, I can knock up a version that also modifies other commonly used textures such as the sand, dirt and brush etc. Also, I usually play on maps that are "green", i.e. are mainly covered in grass (as opposed to sand/desert maps) - so this little "mod" was made with that type of map in mind. Desert maps will not be as "boosted" by this. You could also "roll your own" versions using the batch files as a guide. light_terrain.zip
  19. Hope this helps - according to the author it can be used as a "generic" FJ division TOE for 1944. TOE for German 1st Fallschirmjäger Division - 1st February 1944
  20. Here's an interesting article on FJ operations in Russia. Fallschirmjäger on the Eastern Front 1941-1945
  21. This article might shed some light on the issue. Waffen-SS Panzer Uniforms
  22. I've been doing new mods for some of the tanks and vehicles that I've modded in the past. I'm also working on some new mods. I'll upload these mods as they're completed. Looking back, I'm not really happy with some of my earlier mods - I doubt that I'll upload them again.
  23. Gautrek, I like the new look with the mods divided up into sections. Good idea. BTW I've just posted a WIP screenie of a camo Hetzer that I'm working on. Check it out on Gautrek's forum.
  24. Here's the best I could come up with from the web. The info is not very detailed, but it might help you to come up with a "generic" OOB, if all else fails. Info on the German forces -------------------------- http://orbat.com/site/history/historical/germany/pzdivs062241.html Info on the Russian forces -------------------------- http://militera.lib.ru/h/fugate/app.html Hope this helps.
