  1. lcm1947, thanks for your comments. If you have any problems with this mod, or you'd like to see it changed in some way, either post here or send me a mail (address in profile). I'm always open to suggestions.
  2. Oberst Bergerbitz, thanks for the feedback - it's much appreciated. I think you may have me confused with somebody else, but then again I do specialise in terrain mods. Anyway, hopefully I'll have some more vehicles and tanks out soon.
  3. There's one on this page that's kinda yellow: http://www.combatmission.com/mods/germantanks.asp You might need to adjust the colour a bit though. Hope this helps.
  4. I've posted a CMBO scattered tree bases mod to the usual place: CMMODS Here's some screenies: CMBO Autumn/Fall ------------------ CMBO Summer ------------------ [ April 19, 2003, 07:33 PM: Message edited by: Flesh ]
  5. I've knocked up a mid/late war hasty camo PSW 222, based on the excellent "Modders Series: PSW" collection by Kingfisher. Download it at the usual place: CMMODS Here's a screenie:
  6. IIRC the 3d model and BMP numbers for the Puma are the same for CMBB and CMBO. Here's a link to a page on CMHQ that features a CMBO mod for the PSW 234/1, PSW 234/2(Puma) and PSW 234/3. It's by Fernando J. Carrera Buil and includes both bicolor and mono versions. The mono would (hopefully) seem to be what you're looking for. http://www.combatmission.com/mods/germansupport.asp
  7. Okay, I know what the problem was with Skeg's AAR. The spaces in the filename were causing problems. I've renamed it. You should be able to download it now. Here's the new URL: : http://dave.zirconiumdns.net/aar/Flesh_v_Skeg_AAR.doc Murph, the reason why I advanced slowly with my mech force on the left was that my opponent had informed me before the game that he intended to defend against my forces, as he knew I was going to buy lots of vehicles and attempt a combined arms "blitzkrieg". So, I expected to run into some kind of ambush. In fact, he did attempt to ambush my forces, but on the right, not on the left. Also, you are correct in your observation that Skeg did not buy any arty. He admits that this was a mistake in his AAR. BTW Skeg likes to buy lots of infantry. I like to buy lots of vehicles. As you've probably guessed, I'm really looking forward to our first CMBB PBEM... *evil laugh* On the subject of micromanagement and large battles, here's how I deal with it. 1) Use the "small hills" setting. This gives you lots of covered approaches and "dead ground". You can then advance your forces in safety out of your opponents LOS. 2) Divide your forces into groups and give each a separate task. Some groups (esp. mech ones) will advance. Others (esp. infantry groups) will defend or form a screen. 3) As a result, you have mech groups rapidly advancing out of enemy LOS. You don't really have to micromanage these much. Screening infantry just sit there and hide one they reach their defensive positions. You end up with a fast paced battle that is action packed and doesn't take too much micromanagement. Thanks for the interest Murph. Maybe this will get you interested in large battles. If you want, I could challenge you to a large CMBB battle and we could post our AARs. Just a thought...
  8. If anybody is interested, I've uploaded two CMBO AAR's to my webspace. They both cover the same battle (a PBEM ME QB). One is by me, the other by my opponent, Skeg. The AAR's are each addressed to the respective opponent. They were done as part of our post game "debriefing". Here's the URL for Skeg's AAR, a word document: http://dave.zirconiumdns.net/aar/Flesh v Skeg AAR.doc Here's the URL for my AAR: http://dave.zirconiumdns.net/aar/Skeg_vs_Flesh_AAR.html Warning: My AAR is quite long and contains lots of *HUGE* images. Also, it was a 5000 pt game with the "Large" map setting. As a result, the map was so large that I couldn't get all of it on one screen in the game to take a screenie to do an overhead shot of the entire battlefield. Also, you should probably read Skeg's AAR first as it's shorter and has smaller images.
  9. You can get a CMBO arty table in Excel format from the following site: http://users.erols.com/chare/cm/ I'm not sure if it's the same one mentioned in this thread though. It's in a zip file, along with tables which cover *all* of the other units in the game. There's also some CMBO scenarios for download there. Enjoy... 10. I usually list the BMPs that are replaced by the mod. I also reckon it's a good idea to mention the software used to create the mod, e.g. Paintshop Pro, Photoshop, Gimp etc.
  11. "Forgotten Soldier" is an unforgettable book, but many scholars out there don't believe that "Guy Sajer" was actually an Eastern Front veteran. This book is probably, at best, quasi-autobiographical. "When Titans Clashed" is by David Glantz, the current preeminent western historian of the Eastern Front.</font>
  12. Why not place several German trucks and other unarmed transport vehicles in the middle of the German position? Seems like it might be a good way to represent the disorganisation and give the Russians some easy targets...
  13. I've decided to do some more work on the grass. Also, the tree bases and brush aren't quite finished yet. So, they should all be done in two or three days. I'll post when they're finished and I've uploaded them. Thanks very much for your interest.
  14. Well, if you're in the market for a book that gives you a good idea what it was like to be a German soldier on the Eastern Front, I would suggest "The Forgotten Soldier" by Guy Sajer. IMHO it seems to really capture the horror, the despair and the frustration felt by those involved. It's also an incredibly moving book. A "must read" in fact... I would also recommend a Russian film called "Come and See", which covers the partisan war. Again, it is both horrific and moving.
  15. Well, I only modded the grass, scattered tree bases and brush. The rest of the mods were created by other people. Also, although the grass is finished, I'm still working on the tree bases and brush. I should have them looking even better in a couple of days or so. After that, I'll look into the whole CMMOS thing - provided there is sufficient interest/demand... As always, thanks for your comments.
  16. Those are some amazingly realistic trees!!! I'm really looking forward to these now... It looks like the level of graphical realism is about to go up another notch.
  17. Yeah, I'm sort of on a quest to make CMBO look as good as CMBB. Well, along with creating more mods for CMBB. Your trees seem to really improve the look of *both* games. Your skies for CMBO look great too. As you can probably tell, I try to use mods in CMBO that compliment each other. To this end, I've also installed your marsh and wheat. Keep up the good work and thanks for the comments!!!
  18. Well, if you mean the sky with the sort of "ridge", the answer is no. It's from one of the sky mods on CMHQ. BTW I like your tanks - great work!!! PS thanks for the feedback.
  19. Here's a preview of the mods I've been working on - grass for both CMBB and CMBO, summer and autumn scattered tree bases for CMBO and brush for CMBO. CMBO Summer ------------------- CMBO Autumn ----------------- CMBB ----------------
  20. Here's a way of printing the map. Obviously, I am assuming here that you are using a PC. 1) In CM, zoom out to a high aerial view of the map. Hit the "Print Screen" key. This will copy a screenshot to the clipboard. 2) Quit or minimise CM. Load a paint program (Windows Paint will do). 3) In the paint program, "paste" the screenshot from the clipboard to a new image. 4) You can now scale the image, crop it, adjust brightness and contrast etc. Print the image to your printer. Having a colour printer would be an advantage here. Also, the output you get will depend a lot on which terrain mods you are using, especially with regard to the grass.
  21. Just giving this a bump. I reckon a lot of people missed this, as I originally posted this in the early hours of Sunday morning.
  22. Thanks for the feedback. I've uploaded it to http://www.cmmods.com It's called "Rough Grass" and is listed in the "terrain" section.
  23. You can also generate a map in the scenario editor, save it and then import it into a QB. Just keep generating until you get a map that you like. Also, by doing it this way, you can set the map dimensions to whatever you like, instead of being stuck with the standard sizes...
  24. Sorry, the muzzle flash/shockwave cannot be modified. Why not play CMBB instead if it bothers you so much?
