  1. The King Tiger and Tiger would of been much more prevelent, and the MKIV would have been one of the least produced tanks of the german side.
  2. War is a game? what? you get shot and end up swaering at the dice rolls or something. think of it as war, but theres a way you can get home AT ALL.
  3. I never thought CM needed one, yes the terrain works in a grid, but everything else works on actual unit placements. so a grid system is not that much use. just my personal pref.
  4. Go Comraids! onwards for Mother Russia! Huh? thats not the flank, thats the front.... Mother! history shows us somthing along those line happened, (i know, without the "Mother Russia" bit, that wasn't policy at the start of the war.
  5. Didn't you know? specially trained SS hamsters were formed into special Rodentsturm battalions to plug the gaps appearing in the overstreached german line. they soon got a reputation for evil. this may be down to the fact that a hamster has trouble understanding the Geniva convention.
  6. Hmm, I seem to have had different excperances, I've just captured a Volksturm team with no casulties in my PBEM game. maybe its just luck, I've had the game for two years, and its still finding ways to surprise me. [ August 18, 2002, 04:29 AM: Message edited by: Grey Hunter ]
  7. When Trumpets Fade was released (in the states I think) at the same time as Saving ryans Privates and The Thin Red Line, so it never got a IK release, and I have only seen it becasue it was on sky. personally I think its a good film, it has a few inaccuarcys, and their attempts at making tanks is actually laughable, but story wise its actually quite good for a film that I'd never heard of before sitting down to. Band Of Brothers is a joint US/ UK ventur,e so many of the americans you see in that are actually British. again, its a good serise, with a good line in tanks. And is all the more interesting for being based on a true story.
  8. The truth for most people (me Included) is yes, but not as much. with the improvements in CM:BB, returning to CM:BO will look a bit flat. sad, but true. but then again, does the eastern front version allow you to kill Americans? <Ducks, bust still waves the English flag> NOTE THAT WAS A JOKE......
  9. what did they do if they were unsure? leave it on the level? (Retorical Q everone)
  10. I think he means the Hamstergruppen - try the link below Combat mission HQ a Good site for most mod types.
  11. I like the MKIV (i've just made a model that I almost lost, because it was on a sheet of newpaper and is in Winter Camo), but I was also upset to see Redfox badmouthing the Stug. The Stug battalions were morla booster for the german troops, to the point were the commanders were told to tell the infantry that they were only leaving to rearm and refuel, otherwise the infanty were known to rout. saying they got thier kills just by dint of numbers is a slur on the crews who made those kills, often agiast full tanks. I think you should appologise (in general of course). (as you may guess, in QB's i'm never the Axis and without a Stug.)
  12. As to the limitied utility of ditches in general, remember we're usually only working in half-hour timeframes with the game and an unexpected ditch can mess up a timetable for considerably more than a half hour. That's why the Brits put so much time and effort into building tanks to drop fascines into the gaps True. and are you going to try and fill a big ditch when under fire without a tank? lot harder to do than on paper i'm guessing.
  13. Yes. I learnt that Bangalores are carried by bazooka squads. Do you have to stick them up the exsaust?
  14. ah Nazi Germany. the A-Z of the most evil men in history. (well, that we have photos of anyway.) <waits for the rare picture of Vlad the Impailer taken just after the defeat of the Turks, showing Vlad with his thumbs up.>
  15. yes, but the gaudy orange and black camoflarge (spell) makes it stand out on the battlefield, being a even greater magnet to fire.
  16. hmm, Russian propoganda (how the hell do you spell that?) has done nothing for the plight of the siberian tiger.
  17. oh well, thats £2500 down the drain. (the price of an MG42 at an arms fair.) I wonder if the oput of ammo shoud is could be a string of curses. (russian german for "I'm out of ammo and theres a rather big tank in front of me with its posterier presenting a rather good target. oh golly. its noticed me")((Although that might be a bit long for a sound bite))
  18. I think the main problem with the Waffen SS content is one of accuaracy, i must be annoying for the desginers (if only slightly) to have to ignore a major fact of history when you've just spent god knows how much time looking for the precise armour thickness an slope of a tank that most people have never heard of. and people ignoring facts will not make them go away. no matter what the goverment may think.
  19. Remberances to all soldiers who died today, regardless of nationality. and a hope that we never again have to see a war like the World Wars again.
  20. An interesting thing about Itallian tanks - they unsurprisingly had good engines, but they made a small mistake when constructing them. they bolted them together. there are a few reports of Itallian tanks almost disassembling themselves from hits from HE rounds, as the vibrations shook the bolts loose. rivits come loose most of the time, so bolts are hopeless.
  21. "If you see a White plane - Thats the americans, if you see black planes, thats the RAF, if you see no planes, thats the Lufftwaffa" (spelt wrong i know) -Anonmous German Soldier.
  22. the Maus was a protoype, they only made one, as far as I know, it was 140 tonnes in weight, and looked like this... (at least i think thats the Maus) it was one of hitlers new range of "Super tanks" there was also going to be a range of "E" tanks to replace the MKs that were in service.
