  1. BINGO! thanks rune. had DEP set to make another game work, odd that it works automatically but not when I manually let it through. ah well, now to war!
  2. won't that lead to some rather c**p scenarios? sorry, couldn't help myself. I'll slink back into lurker land now.
  3. plus the games not about Iraq - its about conventional forces in Syria. mainly until the user scenarios come out. and the mods.... maybe I should shut up now....
  4. I thought that the amphibious landings were more likely in the Marines module - seeing thats what they do.
  5. nice manual but unfortunately it just makes me want the game all the more. A quick question though, what is the range of the "incidentals" like - is it limited to bus stops and other bits of urban decor, or does it include burned out tanks, trucks and cars? to give a bit more cover and illusion of somewhere thats already seen fighting. the maps and shots I've seen so far all look a little "clean" - pre-battle stuff that looks great, but lacks rubble. (then again, if we can add that type of thing in later as mods that would be amazing.)
  6. I don't know about france, but i would guess so. they certainly captured and used matildas in the desert.
  7. Now you see why we uk people buy PC Gamer Uk - Good reviews! and they can say bint in print, (here at least) and thats a direct port of the review from the mag. (in screenshots)

  10. So, if we're going to get a Campaign/strategic level in CMX, then what type do we want? As I see it there are two types of campaign that could be used. they are: a) A grand campaign, where you control troops fighting to complete objectives, such as the D-day landings or the battle of the bulge. you would fight battles over a map, switching from area to area over the wider battlefield. a smaller campaign, following a smaller number of troops who get carried over from battle to battle, gaining experiance and taking casualties as the war progresses. A has the advantages of being able to fight a large scale campain, controling the macro movements of units, then fighting out the battles in a normal CM style. B on the other hand allows you to get to know the troops that you command, and makes any losses more involved. you are fighting to protect your men, rarther than going all out to win the battle.
  11. Look, there is only one way to solve this. half of you get Stens, the other half tompsons, go into the woods and do some "field" research, rember to set up cameras so we can check for flying bodies. hmm, this could be a new TV show - "when Debates go wrong"
  12. Wow! That looks more like the russians attempt in WWI to catch up in the tank race. looks like a cannon on weels.
  13. Well, every time i try and get them to do it, they refuse to fire.
  14. most of the time thats all i think morters are good for. i mean, the CM engine doesn't even allow for Indirect Fire with them - what thehell are you supposed to do with them then?
  15. I though that the Maus seeing combat was a rumour sparked by dents in the armour of the prototype captured, which then turned out to be from the russians who captured it, testing the armour with their guns incase they ever ran into a working one.
  16. could also be a good snack - ready salted or roasted? (and for those of you with grubby minds, i'm talking PENUTS!)
  17. look, i said dyslexic! you can't pick on my mistakes without picking on a minoritary group!
  18. they are working, their english teachers *edit to remove 3 spelling mistakes - and i'm dyslexic  [ January 12, 2004, 02:32 PM: Message edited by: Grey Hunter ]
  19. I wish for group movement that can have more than one wp! please oh please. its so annoying having to either send groups in a seris of moves around terrain or set them up one by one....
  20. This has taken a while to read, but has been well worth it. well, my family was all none combatants Maternal Grandfather was reserved occupation - a fireman, Maternal Grandmother was a nurse delaing with casualties from europe. Paturnal Granfather was a mechanic in North africa and italy. the real oddity in my family is my paturnal grandmother and my paturnal grandfathers brother, who were both members of the codebreaking operations at Station X and Y. the odd thing is that neither knew of the others involvment until a few years ago, when the offical secrets act they had signed ran out. it was only at a family gathering, where a program about Bletchly Park (Station X) was on TV, and one of them mentioned it, off hand. they had known each other for 40 years, and had no idea that they had been doing the same job during the war!
