  1. There arem bots and AI out there which do quite a good job in FPS. But is a different story. Things will be improved, period.
  2. WeGo over TCP/IP can be a real problem to do technically and I can see why, just see how PBEM sizes are. IMO is a waste of development time that BF doesn't have now. What we need is PAUSABLE (or somekind of chess-like timing) RT. That's a hundread times better than any WeGo, cause it's VARIABLE. Sure, you don't get the cool replays, but that's life.

Ok you get the same battle either way (if you lose or win doesnt matter really in this scenario). if you want to skip the pain do this: after finishing the first enemy reinforcements (BMPs) rush to phaseline charlie and press 'cease fire' in the menu. would be nice to know the total of scenarios in the campaing and the branching, the camping structure.

GeForce 6800GS VRAM: 256 PCI-Express 16x 24-bit color 60 Hz (LCD) --- AMD DualCore +4800 2GB RAM Windows XP SP2 Default AA is @ x2 / anisotropic filter @ x4 Hope it helps.   5. QB and AI don't match very well. CMSF uses StratAI plans for major AI movement, attacks etc. In QB these plans have to be very generic and non force specific. So it's not gonna work nice never ever with the current system, which is to stay here for the rest of life span of CMx2. Forget having interesting battles against AI in QB. And more if you wasnt to be the defender, it didn't work in CMx1 very well, it's not gonna do in CMx2 neither. I never got what was the deal with QB against the AI, FFS, play scenarios, there are a few, yopu can play from both sides, and there are allready scenarios by the community and more will come. QB should be for H2H play. About your first point, I think it has to do w/ the current C2 system and all that. There was a very elegant suggestion some made for force selection in QB, the game picks forces from a selected list of forces from teh total, show that list to the user and let him decide. I agree more maps would be nice, when major bugs and other stuff is fixed these could be added with patches, 'free expaion packs' or whatever, but is the community which would increase the number of QB maps fast at some point.
  6. Patrocles, Conquest Of The Agean. It was the third game of 'Airborne Assault' engine (the first was published by BF). It's different tho, first cause, as you say, was more at brigade-divisional level (playing as corps co wasn't a problem due to game AI anyway), being basic units companys (in some cases, platoons). And second cause the AI is easier to program in an enviorement like that (top-view 2D with abstracted terrain features, and not 1:1 rep.). To make soemthing similar in CMSF (as competent AI), which then would do it the utilmate playability would take huge budget, years of development and bigger team. "Unfortunatly" 3D & more detailed combat model & enviorenment makes the AI to behave more realitically exponetially difficult to program. Only problem of RT is that sometimes gets overwhileming specially if the maps are big and your forces too. But there is Pause. I could care less about WeGo in TCP/IP, but adding pausing or soem sort of it, would be a major feature. RT + Pause (+hability to give orders) = VariableWeGO = 1000 times better than WeGo (just, you don't get replays, that's only bad thing, but I can live w/o them).

  12. Which is the victory threeshold for this battle? First time I played, I had destroyed all the BTR and was at Phaseline Charlie, just wondering why the cpu didn't surrender and why this scenario had so many time. Then after 5 minutes suddenly a load of T-62 materialize in the air and kick my ass. Got a major defeat. I started again and once again I destroy all the BTR w/o loses. This time I head to phaseline charlie and ocne I'm there I press the "cease fire", got a minor win (i think). Just didn't want to wait 10 minutes until the damned tanks appeir. But saved the game so I may resume it now for curiosity. The thing is... in both cases the next scenario was the same (one that you have to pl of m1a1, 1 pl of bradleys and soem strykers too), attack obj diane. So I wodner if i did right or no. what the ehck gonna resume this battle and kill the tanks to see if is the same battle no matter if you win or not. IMO is not a lame trick, just the reinforcement time is too late, the tanks should come 5 minutes after the BTR, not more.
  13. Heh, I like it too, but people thinks this game is a clickfest, LOL, go compare CMSF to SC. This oen is looking good, definitively not having bases/unit building, will add some sort of preservation and a layer of strategy.
  14. 1) While may be possible, I doubt this is practiced a lot in RL. Too Hollywood as MikedD said. So not a big deal. 2) I think the cloud are just seen when you have LOS to them as Swift said (there cloud can get high indeed), but don't know for sure.

  19. You have to host your own games, the game networking does not use servers. I don't think is that hard, but could be a bit difficult for those under NAT and with LAN.
  20. I don't know how individual soldiers in squads/teams track LOS & LOF. But for vehicles it does matter A LOT where the vehicle is pointing it's optics devices (or if the commander is unbuttoned). So in this particular example the Bradley shouldn't be able to fire at RPG as he doesn't know that he is there, even if there is LOS, is not watching aat the RPG team.
  21. I don't think you have that limited resources in airbase map. 1 stryker company + 3 MGS + 2 helos + plenty of arty. Overwhelming firepower, so if you wish you can try that envelopment maneouver. What worked the best for me is breaching through the barracks, the try to kill the most I could from there, using it as some sort of firebase, and slowly advancing into the airbase HQ. I didn't care at all to take SF HQ at all, just bombed it to death. But... AI doesn't move unless StratAI says so. They will stand and fight. In this battle in particular they won't move, will try to ambush you. So if what you want to accomplish with the envelopment is to apply pressure on one point so they retreat, don't count on it. I don't like dismounting cause I don't like how infantry behaves right now, this results in unncessary casualties. Taking cover, advancing, and interaacting with the battlefield, specially in MOUT. But sometimes is better and you don't have other way to do things. Also I find Uncons too accurate, someone thinks the same? Overall troops should be pinned easier and don't be as accurate. It's like all the troops have iron nerves. Doesn't feel right. And is one of the reaons causalties are very high.

On a related note: http://www.metacritic.com/games/platforms/pc/combatmissionshockforce Reviews are not as harsh as users lol, if you think users who reviewed it a more mainstream oriented, you can make out an idea of how much this game was going to appeil mainstream players (as a lot of people has used as a fooled argument). But ie. CMBB: http://www.metacritic.com/games/platforms/pc/combatmissionbarbarossa/ got a very good score from reviewrs and players too.
