1.02 crashes my computer when 1.01 didn't

OK, I will allow CMAK when 1.03 comes out and see if it still happens. Thanks Madmatt. -

OK, maybe you need more info? The computer locks up right after I enter a password. "Control-Alt-Delete" does nothing. Hitting the "Esc" key does nothing. This even with a small map with low number of units. It just hangs there forcing me to reboot. Could it be that there are no reports about this because no one has tried to play TCP/IP with 1.02 since the report of the PBEM bug???? -
I pretty much did what junk2drive said except I uninstalled and re-installed CMAK (not just a 2nd install) and now it works fine for my PBEM and TCP games.

A further note : It works ok with a hotseat game. -
It happens right after I enter a password for a TCP/IP game.

Uninstalling and reinstalling is it my friend.

is there any news on the patch?
Le Tondu replied to Other Means's topic in Combat Mission: Afrika Korps
I would've guessed that 11-11-04 (Veteran's Day) would have been a real cool release date for the patch. Hmmm, Thanksgiving seems just as good. Don't you think? -

So you don't have to go over there, here is what Moon said (over there) : -
No you are not the only one. One has to admit that there are some questionable things about this game. It is this sort of thing that I pray gets more attention for CMx2 than eye candy. Better graphics are fine (if your computer can handle them) but things like this and something like allowing a blizzard anywhere in Italy (in July with HOT weather) is just plain silly. Go ahead and try it --for a QB. See for yourself.

CMX2 & Moon's EVIL Thread Locking Device
Le Tondu replied to war2004's topic in Combat Mission: Afrika Korps
One has to admit that the features that are in that "article" seem pretty cool. The sun and moon moving across the sky? Color gradient in the sky? Doodads with depth? You've clearly shot the messenger, what's so terrible about looking at the message? -
Wasn't that used at Normandy after D-Day? Sorry, I don't think it was ever used in Africa, Crete or Italy...... Maybe for CMx2 ?

What do we want in the new CM game, Part Deux!

IF it hasn't already been said, I'd like to see the firing of smoke rounds by off map artillery not count against the artillery rounds that the spotter has available. If he has 150 HE rounds available, smoke rounds shouldn't count against that. Maybe smoke rounds should have their own total like armour has? -
Thanks to the forum for a great helpful hint

I have the same situation here and I've found that the use of nice pair of headphones is the perfect solution. I can have the volume as I like it and it is no problem at all. -
The higher you are, the more of the enemy you see and hence can take out. Now that, is quite an advantage in my book.
-
It doesn't Pzman. I believe that was just a fancy way of saying "bump."

I need some good Armour Vs. Armour maps!
Le Tondu replied to oren_m's topic in Combat Mission: Afrika Korps
The first one is for CMBB and I can't tell about the second one. -
It is coming alright. There is a definite disturbance in the Force and the Jedi look nervous. The only question is whether or not the new CM engine (CMx2) will get here first.

I predict that the power-ups will be improved too.

What do we want in the next Combat Mission game

What about variable weather where the rain (or snow) stops? -or lightens up and then stops? -or where the fog gets thinner (or thicker)? -or where it randomly rains or snows (depending upon the temperature) during an overcast scenario? -or where the sun starts to shine after it being overcast? -or where the winds increases or decreases? -or (for the more daring) a tornado comes through and picks tanks and troops up and throws them around? -

Are you saying that this is useful in the middle of a TCP/IP or hotseat game? -

What I'd like to see is have the Labels (Shift-G) last only for the turn that they happen in. --Or have what I just said be a third option to what exists now. Playing a long game and having all those red "Eliminated" of "Abandoned" words blocking the view of what's going on is kind of hard. (I know that I can turn them off, but that doesn't help so much with what happens this turn when the KO is at a distance from the camera.) If my Pz IVH was abandoned several turns ago, why do I still need to know it now? Maybe a different color for each side --say red for the axis and blue for the allied? Its just some thoughts.
