  1. Ok, no problem. What I'd like to know then is, when will definitive information be released about this eventual release?
  2. No pics. No news. Just a whole bunch of nothing.
  3. Hold on there mate. They have 11 hours and 13+ minutes (on the West Coast) before the end of the year passes us by for good.
  4. Ah yes Speedy. It was originally posted in September. Still, the statement is relatively true today. One has to be a little perplexed to say the least. I mean, BFC must have an idea of how they want the next couple of years to happen. It is fair to say that if they're programming, they must know what they're programming for when you consider that it has been said that CMx2 will most likely be out by the end of 2005. It isn't too far of a stretch to believe that at least a general flow chart of the project has been created. Since it is our money that they're after, I find it a little strange that they are so reluctant to share (with us) the most general of information about the project. Heck, I'm not asking for anything specific. Just something to root for.
  5. Oh man. Politics has reared it's ugly head in the CMAK Forum. Run for the hills!
  6. Well, that may be the case in any event. Just be able to back up that lead vehicle with a tank -and have some overwatch tanks. Creep up to that hilltop (or to the edge or those woods) and peek. Do it with your least valuable asset and follow closely with tanks in order to quickly punish his tanks if he shoots first. Another idea is to lay ambushes for him. Set it up by hiding your tanks and be real patient.
  7. Let me say it for them. (I'm serious here.) Questions like these just end up being ignored -or worse. They do not seem to be liked very much around here. The best answers to your questions are : CMx2 will be out when it is ready and not a minute sooner. If they weren't tired of saying that, you'd have already gotten that "put down" by now. It will run on a Mac. On that you can be sure. Actually, its the only thing you can be sure of. As for your nice idea, we don't even know what time frame or what war that the game will be about. Sadly, no one will say for certain. It seems that they are just working on a basic gaming engine for now. Some kind of a press release would be nice. There are "CMx2 idea threads" aplenty in this forum and I'm betting that they are getting read by the powers that be. Maybe you can repost your idea in one? Your curiosity and enthusiasm is a excellent thing, in my opinion. It should be encouraged. My Holiday wish for you Danny is that you get some real good anwers, --real quickly.
  8. I can live with the bug. No problem with that. I ask again : If this happened to you after you invested a lot of time by sending back and forth PBEM files and you didn't know about it, how would you feel??? What would you think about CM then? In that situation, would it still be much ado about nothing to you??? I dare say that you would be more than a little pissed. That is exactly what I am trying to prevent --by getting the word out about this bug. Phillipe says he has seen comments from BFC about this? Really? Where are they? I'd like to see them. I've checked the four threads that talk about this bug and I have even checked the Tech Forum and there is nothing from BFC.
  9. I play extended PBEM games with my best friend. (We also play TCP/IP games on sundays.) Anyways, in the morning when I get the gamefile sent to me, I watch it and send it off right away. If I have to watch and then plot my turn, I plot as much of it as I can before I have to run and catch my bus. Then, when I return at the end of the day, my original plotting is still there and I finish my turn and return the gamefile. I do that regularly. I like to play a complete combined arms scenario where aircraft and AAA are a part. So for me, all three can easily be met. The problem is that I wouldn't know if the (non QB) scenario I'm playing has that type of aircraft in it without looking at it with the scenario editor. (Which, in my opinion is a type of cheating. It would be too hard not to see my opponent's OOB as well.) I am NOT pushing to have this be rubbed into the faces of the folks at BFC. I am filled with nothing but gratitude for their wonderful work. What am I lobbying for? I am lobbying for the poor bloke that doesn't have time to come to this discussion forum and be warned about this bug until after he has sent a PBEM game back and forth for more than 30 turns. I am lobbying for the scenario designer who has these type of aircraft in their scenario. I am lobbying for every Player so they can play this game with less suspicion of their opponent. Does the opponent have two planes or is he cheating? I am lobbying for there to be some kind of comment about this bug from BFC. I cannot understand why there has been none. My intentions are purely honorable.
  10. If we only had planes that we could put on the ground. That, Fuel tanks and hangars would be nice too.
  11. The more players that knows about this bug, the better in my estimation. Heck, I can live (like Sergei in another post) with this bug not being fixed. I am being persistent because the greatest damage is done when people don't know about this bug and it appears to them. I am trying to save folks from investing a lot of time and effort that will just end up being wasted. Not a bad thing do to, don't you think?

  13. Then it should be real easy for the designer to double check and correct then. Right? You see it is for those designers that I post this. Imagine playing a Large and long PBEM scenario and that bug happens sometime in the middle or near the end. So much for the scenario designer's hard work, eh? It just went out with the bath water.
  14. I bring this here just in case some do not go to the CMAK Forum: Scenario Designers, The varible bomb load bug (in CMAK and CMBB) is real and it can affect the playability of your scenarios in a real BIG way. Actually it makes your scenarios unplayable if they have an aircraft that has variable bomb loads like a Bf109 or a P-38. Does one side in your scenario have that type of aircraft and the other doesn't? Please remove these aircraft types from your scenarios if BFC won't fix this. Scenario Depots now have a real big a can of worms to deal with too. Which scenarios have these aircraft removed? Which don't? This is highly unfortunate because you (the scenario designers) weren't the ones who created this bug. How many scenarios have been made? How many man hours of work went into making them? How many PBEM games are getting tossed right now? How many turns wasted? In my opinion, the easiest way out of this mess it to just fix it, because its just too ugly a situation to leave it in.

  16. How to know? Zoom up to the highest level and click on the unit that is getting targeted. During a replay of the turn, click around on the units and you'll find it easy enough. You'll then see a yellow line going right "up" to the aircraft and that is where you will see whose aircraft it is. This is the only way to tell if it is "friendly fire." They might be getting fresh ammo ONLY if : 1. The aircraft has a variable bomb load? (Say, one 550 lb bomb or four 110 lb bombs.) AND (here is the biggie.) 2. Has your opponent saved the game after bombs were dropped? (This you cannot know for sure.) Answer yes to both of those questions and it is a certainty that your opponents aircraft is getting fresh armor every time he saves his game. The terrible part about this is that you might think he has more than one aircraft when he has only one. Now the real question. Do you trust your opponent? You can check the scenario that you are playing by bringing it up in the scenario editor. There you will see how many and what types of aircraft are being used. In my opinion, if you see aircraft with multiple bomb loads like Bf 109 or a P-38, stop playing the scenario. Scenario Designers, please remove these aircraft types from your scenarios if BFC won't fix this. (How can you trust that they have been removed now?) 17. It is brought here because it is not only an important question, it is germane to this thread. ----------- Well it certainly is a showstopper for those folks that picked some of those aircraft types in their PBEM games. I'd even say it would be a serious shock to those who don't know it is there and then witness it. -Expecially if it happens late in a very long PBEM game. Wouldn't it be a showstopper for you? I know it would be for me. Now the BIG question. Does it get fixed? How can it not? Leaving it there makes part of their product unusable. It is sort of like buying a new car that has a broken heater. The car is works fine until it gets cold out. Would you accept General Motors' instructions to not use the car below a certain air temperature outside? No, you'd politely ask to have it fixed. That's all that we're doing with the renewable bomb load bug. Please comment BFC. It would be a great help if you would. Thanks.

  19. I was wrong earlier when I said there was no bug. My hat is off for FredKors for this one. Aircraft with single bomb types are not affected by this bug. Just ones with variable bombs. For instance, the Messerchmitt Bf 109G-6/R1 is the fignterbomber that I was able to make it happen with. Just start saving the game (exit the scenario and then reload it for PBEM) after any bomb is dropped and you'll get plenty more with which to foil your opponent with in the coming turn. Try it for yourself. It works. I know that I didn't find until I looked for it, but if it had popped up after I invested a lot of time in a marathon PBEM game (like I play,) I wouldn't have been happy. The strange thing about this bug is that it can happen without your opponent ever actually cheating. Playing a Large scenario and the wife needs you to stop and do something with her? Just save the game and come back later to finish it off and you and your opponent might get a big surprise. Surely, someone cares at BFC.
  20. Okay. I switched my simulation to the Messerschmitt and you ARE RIGHT. THERE IS A BUG and it has something (it seems) to do with aircraft with variable bomb loads. I wouldn't have believed it if I hadn't seen it with my own eyes. Over a period of four turns my Messerschmitt (who should have a maximum of 4 bombs) dropped 9 bombs!!!!! Turn 10 - 3 bombs were dropped Turn 11 - 4 bombs were dropped Turn 12 - 1 bomb was dropped Turn 13 - 1 bomb was dropped What I did was save the game at the first opportunity to do so after the each time bombs were dropped. 13 turns was enough for me to become convinced. This has to be fixed, IMHO. It is way too glaring a bug. (Sorry guys.) [ December 11, 2004, 06:38 AM: Message edited by: Le Tondu ]
  21. Could it be that the Messerschmitt drops its bombs one at a time? Did you get multiple droppings of four 110 lb bombs? Or one at a time that fell for a total of four times? Thanks
  22. I'm glad that you've asked that FredKors and for what its worth (everyone,) I did a test. I simulated a 30 turn PBEM game where: the map was a flat 1520m x 1520m square with no cover at all. The skies were Clear and the wind was Still. Temperature was set for cool in July 1943 (Italy.) The Axis had 20 trucks and a single FW 190F fighter bomber. The Allies had just 20 trucks. The trucks were placed in 5 groups of 4 for both sides. (A formation with 2 groups forward, 2 in the rear & 1 in the center.) The result : Nothing happened until turn 9 when 4 Allied trucks were knocked out with bombs. On turn 10, 11, 12, 13, & 14 an Allied truck was knocked out with a strafing run. I made a total of 13 saves during this simulation. I saved from both sides and I even double saved. (Save a game after bringing up a saved game.) CONCLUSION 1. No extra bombs fell. 2. No extra strafing runs happened. 3. No friendly fire happened. I either didn't do it right OR there is NO BUG. Could the opponent of FredKors have cheated in some unreported manner that brought about his results? OR is this all an elaborate conspiracy perpetrated by the Illuminati and the Religious Right? Either way, in my opinion there is no bug --period and I will not try another test. Someone else can. I hope this contributes in some helpful manner.
