  1. If this is happening automatically and no one can control aircraft, how can his opponent possibly be cheating? As for keeping quiet, the cat is out of the bag. It is a definite bug (if confirmed) that should be fixed. I can't imagine not fixing it. It is too BIG. Aircraft were an important part of this WWII and hence an important part of this game. Cheating? No way. Silly? Yes, if they continue to play that scenario. Oh no, my current PBEM game has aircraft.
  2. Historical point of fact : The word Grognard is French for "the Grumblers." Which was first coined by Napoleon I on Christmas Eve in 1807. He was referring to the finest and most experienced soldiers of the Era, -his Imperial Guard. He said it after they had spent the entire day marching in the rain -- while campainging in Poland. Think of so much rain that it filled the hats that hung at their belts. After being so cold and wet, they did the only thing they could do. Grumble about it their Emperor's presence.
  3. I always wondered why two bombs had to be dropped simultaneously. Why not one at a time every once and a while? Perhaps some planes had that ability. Maybe not all. Another improvement for CMx2? --that is IF it will be about WWII.
  4. Right on. CMBB came and CMBO went. CMAK came and CMBB went. CMx2, (depending upong when it is focused) will come and then CMAK will go, -but not a minute sooner. Say, can we get one simple question answered by someone that knows?? Please? Will CMx2 be focused in WWII? Thanks.
  5. sand digger, your post makes real one anxious to know what will be fixed/ improved in CMx2. It reminds me of how starving we are for basic information about it. {The sound of metal cups banging against cell doors starts up in the background.} It seems to me that with all this time that BFC is taking for the project, absolutely nothing should be left out because they didn't have enough time. (So keep yer fingers crossed.)
  6. -Or maybe they're engaging their guns because the supply trucks haven't brought enough grappa!
  7. I agree with just about everyone. Not sure I'd want what Redwolf wants though. If all computer games go in that direction, I'll just find something else to spend my money on.
  8. I was gonna ring a bell and announce "round twoooooooooo!"
  9. I repost Nidan1's positng for two reasons. The first is that he is spot on. The second to highlight a fact that many seem to have forgotten --that CMx is only a game. Right on Nidan1. Thanks.
  10. Reading this thread has been surreal and entertaining to say the least. It is odd how the folks who thought BFC walked on water (in the past) now want to nearly curcify them. I have gripes about CMAK too. I still think it is strange that the game gives an incorrect TCP/IP number for my opponents to connect to, but I just use : http://www.whatismyipaddress.com/ before I start the game and it isn't a problem any more. I don't whine about it, I deal with. Hey Madmatt, do you think that will get fixed for CMx2?
  11. Try the Combat Mission - Tech Support forum. It is meant for these sorts of things.

  13. Quoting out of context is just silly. Don't you think?
  14. Is there any chance that we could download all the missing bitmaps from someplace like CMHQ??? You know, like downloading mods? That way, they wouldn't have to have a v1.04 to create.

  16. Serious stuff there indeed. Even in light of the captured L3/33, I am still VERY thankful for what has been done for us so far. One could focus on this or that and just get pissed, but we really have the ability to choose not to go there. I am grateful for CMx -period. This event with the L3/33 highlights the fact that we're all just human beings that make (you know) mistakes. We're all trying to do the best that we can. Maybe its better not to label any patch as "the absolute last one" until a couple of weeks has gone by first? "Live and learn," I say.
  17. I see the same thing. They'd be great for night battles. Windows XP with a GeForce2 Ti
  18. Well, let's have the last word be that CMAK now works for TCP. This is what I did to get to work: I configured my firewall by manually removing CMAK from the list of programs that NIS shows connecting to the internet. I then completely uninstalled CMAK and defragged my HD. I upgraded to v1.03 and manually added CMAK's .exe file to the same firewall list that I removed it from. It worked. Maybe some steps could be eliminated for you, but this is what worked for me.
  19. Yes, it still happens with v1.03 even after re-installing NIS. I will email you Madmatt with the information that you requested.
  20. Could it be that the same cause for the PBEM problem causes this one too?
  21. It worked before I upgraded to 1.01. It worked after I upgraded CMAK with 1.01. It didn't work with 1.02. It works now after I uninstalled & reinstalled CMAK and then upgraded CMAK back to 1.01 without doing anything to my firewall. I don't claim to be an expert either, but I don't understand how the problem could be anything but CMAK? (I am just trying to be helpful here so you guys won't experience the same thing.)
  22. Sorry about not getting back sooner. I do use a Nvidia card, --but I do not use Zone Alarm. I use Norton Internet Security and it had already been told to allow CMAK. Why would upgrading CMAK change that at all??? Not sure what 1.02 did (and I still believe it was 1.02) because it didn't happen with 1.01 before I upgraded to 1.02 OR after I reinstalled back down to 1.01. (My concern upon getting 1.02 was TCP/IP and not PBEM. I never saw the PBEM problem.) It ONLY happens with 1.02. It will be interesting to see if this still happens after 1.03. Hey, it certainly looks possible that there could eventually be an 1.04 in the works too. Holy cow.
