  1. The site is jaw-dropping! Awesome intro, cool effect. Nicely done. Its still a little early for me to commit, but as the time draws nigh, I will check in and see if you need any heros for the Red Army.
  2. Shep, you are right, the waiting is excrutiating, but our brothers, fathers and grandfathers are more important than any game. My Grandfather was a Seebee in Okinawa and is also ill, its so hard to see more and more of this generation dissapear, they have given so much for us. Good luck. I have everything ready for the arrival of The Game, but ya gotta keep things in perspective.
  3. I live in Anacortes ( read: Podunk ) Washington, I'm guessing it will take 3 to 5 days for it to reach me from anywhere on the east coast. Damn east coasters to hell, you'll get it first. :mad: That still doesn't keep me from checking the mail every day for it though. I wish there could have been the option for priority overnight delivery, I think I would have paid for it.
  4. You know where to position MGs around your house for effective coverage and defence. You have calculated the front, rear and side armor thickness of your '87 Honda Accord. You save old liquor bottles for Molotov Cocktails. Your wife sends you out to dig a flower garden and you end up with a foxhole. You then wonder how handy she would be with a MG34. You're playing frisbee and wonder if you could huck an AT mine that far. You imagine yourself ' Human Waving ' the rude bank teller. You try to figure out the command bonuses your boss has, if any. 5. QB as the Russians! I'm going to pick a late war date and get at least one of everything, then I'll do the same as the Germans, then I'll go back to the scenarios for awhile......
  6. LOL!!!! [ September 16, 2002, 05:51 PM: Message edited by: The ol one eye. ]
  7. I've got a mint condition King Tiger in the backyard, the nieghbors complain when I use thier cows for target practice, but it sure is fun! {{ runs away giggling maniacly }}
  8. Gin and Tonics ALL NIGHT! My wife ( God Bless Her) just bought me a new computer chair with all the bells and whistles, so I'll sit back and git all fawkered up. I'll make sure to get plenty of gin, tonic and lemons beforehand.
  9. I check my mailbox every day in the *faint* hopes that they shipped early and the 9/20 release date is just a little masktrvoika ( or whatever that word is). I CANT SLEEP IM SO ANTSY TO GET A HOLD OF THIS THING!!!
  10. That brings up a little question, were HTs used like tanks in terms of a command structure? How did this work, was there like a platoon HQ HT and if so, would it have to nessicarily be a HT, what about kubelwagons ect...? In short, will all vehicles follow the platoon guidlines?
  11. I never thought of using captured T34s against Russian Shermans!! That is going to be so cool! Have a battalion of German T34s and a battalion of Soviet Shermans, good way to see whos best at what. Yeah, wierd too, but what fun! Sept 20th cant come soon enough. Just as a small question, Did the Germans ever capture Shermans and use those, or were they looked down upon and considered too weak/lame/ un-uber?
  12. Yes, there is alot of variables to consider when deciding which one to choose, and I think crew experiance/morale effects are huge factors too. Since the flaking and spalling inside a tank are modeled I think a Sherman would offer better protection to the crew\morale because it would be more likely to hold up to repeated small caliber hits (right?) For examples sake, lets say its a dry ground summer moderate hill modderate trees 2000 pt combined arms QB ME in late 41'regular crew (whew!). Which would you choose? I guess we'd need to know how much each tank is first, thats a major deciding factor isn't it? Anyone want to hint to the price differances between the two tanks? These kinds of questions just lead to more questions......
  13. OK, right off the bat - I'm not an Armor Grog - so what I have to say is just my observations based on what little I've read ( mostly on this here forum) and playing CM, so here goes. From everything I've heard previosly about the T-34 I was expecting some do-all kill-all tank but really, lack of radios, poor armour quality and a so-so gun ( at least the m40) really made me wonder if the T 34 is just a more glorified Sherman. I know they both had thier strengths and weaknesses, Shermans were reliable and had radios, had more crew ammenities and so on, but what did the early T34s have going for them? Yes it was a good design, but along the way to the front, some things were skimped on, optics, trannys, radios ect. Maybe its the new pentration algorythms or the crew morale, but I rarely see a Sherman bail from a couple 37mm hits. Maybe those of you who know alot more on this than I do could tell me how well these two compare, the M4A1 and the T 34 M40, which one will you pick for early war QBs? Thanks in advance, One Eye.
  14. Playing as the Germans in the tutorial and Yelnia I have yet to see tanks leading in with infantry far behind, if that little problem is fixed, its an improvement.
  15. Can you get her to translate them and post the results?!?!!?!?!??! Pleeeeeaase??? I thought I picked up a few cuss words too, at least what an old Russian fisherman taught me.
  16. I think they will be put to best use in city scenarios where they get the drop on tanks from upper story windows. I'd rather have a bazooka but a molotov will do. A lone tank will be a fire hazard. I've heard that the Soviets did'nt like the bazookas, but surely they could/should have seen the benfit a system like that has, if nothing else giving your troops farther range than 50m max.
  17. Every time I play Yelina as Soviets I get nailed with a first turn strike. Now I just hide my troops on the flanks and it just drop harmlessly on the tanks. The use of decoys is surely gamey, but if the soft targets are just laying out there in the open you should be wary that they may be decoys and fire on the most likely spot anyways. On one hand, it does seem somewhat unfair to plot barrages on turn one when you can see your opponents. What I think its trying to simulate is the arty being preplanned for the entire front, just waiting for the enemy to come into effective range\ position before the spotter pinpoints and orders the fire. Its like having a giant TRP I guess. The setup phase is just that, setup, but turn one is when you know the enemy is in your territory and you have the arty preplanned and waiting for the final adjustment. Hell if I know really, just my 2 cents.
  18. I got one! I got one! I got one! After killing all but one PzIV and losing all my 45mm ATGs in the process, the lone survivor kept slowly advancing, I slowly moved the ATRs 'round behind, using one to keep him buttoned and confused. After a few turns they were all in position and started plunking away at the ass end of the panzer. I tell you, 5 ATRs plinking away at the soft spots will get you a few penetrations and after about three turns, the crew abandoned!!! I've played the scenario countless times already, thats the only time it happened.
  19. Yeah, here's another vote for bringing back the shockwaves! They make a huge differance, in Yelina I can barely see why all of my Russkies are routed, it looks like some one is tossing grenades where 81mm mortars should be.
  20. I tried out the Star Wars idea, the green sticks out pretty well, at least for me. Now I can see the tracers from view 3&4 as well. Thanks Wacky
  21. I also would like to see the shockwaves, they really give artillery that extra visual kick and if you could add them on top of the CMBB muzzle flash for cannons, it would be REALLY cool. I'm off to watch buildings explode! I have'nt seen that one yet.
