  1. This will happen, just not sure exactly when, most likely when the TCP/IP patch is available. Hubert
  2. Moving this to the Strategic Command opponent finder Hubert
  3. Yeah I'll move this one to the tech forums as that would be more appropriate, but I'll try and address this before I do. I'll have to double check the password input box, but I think that some of this may be as a result of some of the memory issues I was having previously. Hubert

  5. I actually thought about this, and the only drawback to this is that if a player knows he will receive a positive research calculation they may take advantage of this by playing the turn over and over again to gain a superior combat round knowing that the research will always be guaranteed. Hubert
  6. Good points, I'll be taking a look at this for the next patch. Most likely the one that will get in there is a fix for Germany surrendering as this one is probably the most in need for a closer look. Hubert

  8. If you completely surround a unit in a city, i.e. occupy all adjacent land hexes with your own units it will only be able to reinforce up to 5. For HQ's, they act as supply wagons that can increase a unit's supply even when enveloped in a pocket. The idea here was to have this simulate trapped formations being supplied by air drops etc., but only if they have an HQ to bump up supply levels. Hubert
  9. Well one is for the terrain itself, and the second is for what the unit does while on that terrain. It already does. This would be the case for fortifications, consider entrenchments as just a unit improving it's position by proper dispertion of it's units throughout the terrain and networking of it's defence capabilities, i.e. ideal artillery, anti-aircraft guns, gun positions, anti-tank positions etc. This will be part of the improvements for a future version as it does make more sense as you've suggested. Hubert
  10. Try running the following command from Start -> Run regsvr32 dx7vb.dll If it still doesn't work let me know. Also you will have to delete the SAVE and PBEM folders from your installation directory as previously saved games will not be compatible. Hubert
  11. If you have a second CD drive you may have to place it there. If it still does not work let me know. FYI, the next patch, that will be available soon, will have the CD check removed. Hubert
  12. Yeah this is not right, please send me the file and I'll take a look for sure. Little insight as to what may be happening here... what's happening is that the PBEM replay is a record of events that happened on the players last turn, a database of values or script if you will. So then it just reads the script and recreates what happened one event at a time... but this is separate from the actual portion that saves the 'end state' of the last turn. So the 'script' and 'end state' are two separate entities where the script may have a flaw but at least the 'end state' will not be affected and appears to have remained consistent. Hubert
  13. These two I would leave as is, I always liked the idea of being slightly penalized if caught in marsh , same for not allowing entrenchment. One of the main reasons is the current design, better to be behind the river or marsh hex and the attacker's attack is cut in half. Yeah this was missed. I am not 100% sure what you are asking for here, but if I understand correctly, this is already in place, i.e. any type of terrain allows for a 2-fold bonus, the immediate bonuses of the terrain against certain types of attack like 'soft' 'tank' 'air' etc., and then the entrenchment value allotted for the longer you stay there immobilized. If you check the combat formula you'll see how this works out the same for defender losses where the entrenchment and defence bonuses are added together in the same part of the formula. Hubert
  14. Yup, but once Poland surrenders, the map get's redrawn and it becomes part of Germany in the game, if it was kept as a capital it would cause some problems with the game engine as Germany would have two capitals. Hubert
  15. Earbuzz, not sure at all what the email issues may be but the next patch will have the CD check removed. I hope this helps. Hubert
  16. If you don't enter a password on your first turn, it won't ask again, if you've encountered something other than that, let me know how I can repeat the problem and I'll take a look. Hope that helps, Hubert

  18. Sounds interesting... maybe some time down the road Hubert
  19. Try setting the line 'sound interrupt = 0' to 'sound interrupt = 1' in the SC.ini file. This file can be found in your installation directory. Hubert
  20. I've fixed this one for the next patch. Thanks! Hubert
  21. The game is setup and balanced for the original design, if too much editing is allowed then it introduces a lot of potential problems. Incompatibility between versions for multi-player games, the "I added 20 extra cities and removed 10 ports and now the AI seems a little confused, please fix it!" etc, etc. I know that there are ways around the incompatibility issues for multi-player but it was never the original intention and perhaps for a future version. Long story short, the game plays well as is and I will continue to spot and introduce improvements, but only those that I can thoroughly test under Fury Software control. Not everyone can get what they want unfortunatly, and if they did when would it ever end You are correct that the the Campaign Editor can have many different meanings, but it does allow you to build campaigns for the game and is the same one I used for building campaigns for the game. It may not have all the features everyone wants but I am always listening and those that can be safely introduced as a potential change I will most certainly do. Hope that helps, Hubert
  22. It's a 'Campaign Editor' as advertised and not a game engine builder. Can you imagine the support problems if I did? These are preset as a design decision. For the rest I'll allow others to comment in the main SC forum as it may be more appropriate and of greater interest there... so moving it there or here (depending on how you look at it I guess ).
