  1. Nope, there was a Gold version retail release that included some custom campaigns from the German player community... but game play wise the game should be identical. Hope this helps, Hubert
  2. In any event, this was NOT a feature in SC the Original, and, as of this date, There will NOT be a special ability to select exact or precise "movement way-points" for SC2, other than for... Convoy routes. Hehe... probably to be more precise I would say that (as SC2 exists now) there currently DOES NOT exist the option to select exact movement paths, but this is an idea I have toyed with in the past. The implementation method I have been leaning towards would be to plot the unit movement with a left click and drag along the desired movement tiles... this would of course be a little tricky simply due to the shape of the tiles so there would have to be some assessment by the engine to guesstimate your intended path but I think it should work... and for all of you crusty old grognds, don't even think about mentioning how much easier it would have been with hexes Either way I have yet to test it and for now it is located somewhere near the bottom of my list of things to do, or should I say to be done . At the very least it could be an interesting option, and we'll have to see what kind of time I have for it and of course all the other devilish enhancements I have in store for you with SC2 Hubert
  3. None taken Original campaigns will of course be optimized (for playability, historical associations etc.) to take advantage of what the editor has to offer (as described above), after that the main idea of promoting the editing features is to show the power and flexibility that will be available to anyone that likes to tinker, create new campaigns, maps, worlds, almost anything you like. Think of it as a 2-in-1 promotion for what the SC2 package has to offer
  4. Bill Good question, yes, there will be some changes in SC2 over what existed in SC1. As you've mentioned, in SC1 minor countries only had the option of either the UK as the Allied parent country or Germany as the Axis parent country, but with SC2 (using the editor) you will be able to set any minor country with any major Axis or Allied parent, i.e. UK, France, Usa, Ussr, Germany or Italy. For example, if Benelux is set with France as the Allied parent and Germany as the Axis parent, then if the Axis declare war on Benelux it will become an Allied minor under France and vice versa if the Allies declare war. For surrendering, the behaviour will be similar to what existed in SC1 but liberation can be slightly different. In SC2 there will also be a 'Cooperative' flag that will control just how friendly your allied countries really are. Using the Allies as an example, if the USSR is currently active and aligned with the Allies but it is not set to 'Cooperative' then any country the USSR liberates will default to the USSR regardless of the pre-existing parent. For example, if Poland is set (initially) to a UK parent but is subsequently liberated by the USSR the new allied parent for Poland will become the USSR because the USSR is not a fully 'cooperative' ally of the Allies. Nothing is fully set in stone of course but this should give you some insight as to what to expect
  5. I believe you have to reapply the original 'main_menu_buttons.bmp' after you install the Elite Edition mod as the mod does not contain the most up to date version of those buttons, i.e. it is missing a few.
  6. Curry the SC PBEM league *Sgt-at-Arms* has been doing a fantastic job of putting together a rather substantial PBEM community. Take a look the following link as it will be the most helpful in this department: http://www.battlefront.com/discuss/ultimatebb.php?ubb=get_topic;f=18;t=002882;p=1 In there you'll find the league URL as well as a very up to date list of contact e-mails at the end of the thread. Hope this helps, Hubert
  7. No final decision just yet on Free British units but the good news is that with the new script framework in SC2 a free British setup is more than possible for customized games
  8. Hehe... it all depends on your definition of substantially In all seriousness though, everything is being looked at and we are quite optimistic that there will be many, quite noticable, improvements wrt to SC2 over SC1 in most areas of gameplay
  9. Took a quick look at it, interesting game guys, keep up with it and good luck
  10. Thanks for the continued interest Kuniworth... not ready just yet but I'll be keeping my eye on those previous threads
  11. This will probably be below the required system specs, but this is partly what the demo is for... run it on your system and see if it works for you and then go from there.
  12. Herr Kruger Glad to hear you are looking forward to the game For the demo, it will most likely be available probably a month or so before release System specs, right now I would say at least a 500 MHz system with 128 MB of RAM and a 16 MB video card should do the trick.
  13. Yes, but without interface and various in game options and sub windows etc.
  14. No problem and hopefully you'll get it up and running soon Hubert
  15. Edwin Believe me I understand the interest to see the full war map (I'm also curious how it will all end up ) but since this has still not been finalized I think it would be a little early to post these types of screen shots. At the moment development and testing is still under way and once we have a few more critical items completed expect to see a few new *in game* screen shots relatively soon
  16. Interesting posts guys, I'll have to see what kind of time I'll have to implement any of these ideas down the road, thanks!
  17. Tony Glad to hear that like what you've seen so far For the release date we are planning for the end of this year, but realistically it will only be released when it is truly ready
  18. Question, when you tried running it without DirectX, was the line 'high refresh = 0'? This line must be set to zero if you have problems running without DirectX, i.e. 'directx = 0' Hope this helps, Hubert
