  1. Canuck Those are just temporary menu items (represented by letters for now) as this will all be replaced by something a little nicer (most likely symbols) in the end. In general the menu choices are typical such as Done, Purchase Units, Research, Diplomacy, Reports, Quit, etc.
  2. I think there is a very good chance a North Africa scenario will be included in the official release No link currently planned and wrt the scale for the Overlord scenario, I currently have a regiment/division scale modelled Actually this is already the default behaviour of Operational movement and in addition to this, as an option for scenario creation, you can actually turn Operational movement off via the editor. That and a few other options to help manage various scales for custom campaigns/scenarios
  3. Archibald, thanks for the feedback and good catch wrt the French roundel. For the Crown, looking at it a little more carefully it actually looks like a cross between the St. Edwards and the King's Imperial Crown. Either way I'll forward this info to Fernando, thanks!
  4. Also, I'm very glad to hear you guys like the screen shots
  5. For screenshots I have heard a rumour there will be some new ones shown very shortly
  6. I'll admit a little frustration is perfectly understandable... all I ask is to please keep in mind that, minus the great work from my beta testers, in terms of coding and development I am still just a team of one. Sometimes things take a bit longer than you anticipate and well... this is only my second game
  7. Edwin, I honestly can't wait to see what sort of modifications you will come up with once the game is released... and in the meantime I can only apologize for the continued delay, but I would say that it is probably better to just wait and see for some of these more specific script questions as most will be answered once the official release becomes available for tinkering .
  8. Sorry to hear this... sounds like HL2 has overstepped its bounds wrt other files on your computer
  9. There was a change made to the War Map, i.e. changed to a simplier terrain map for the retail version, as the original release did not display properly on Windows 2000/XP systems. Hope this helps, Hubert
  10. Interesting idea but unfortunately not likely to change this late in the game... perhaps something to think about in the future though
  11. Very nice idea Edwin, but not likely for the initial release. Lars, wrt an indicator, this is already in place
  12. I'm not so sure Kuni, sounded like you were anti-editor... after all, what was the name of this thread, oh yes, the "anti-editor" thread How about this as a compromise... I'll leave the editor in there but I'll leave a note with Matt to make sure the version you purchase will be a special version minus the editor. What does everyone think? Ok, in all seriousness (as I was just having some fun with my above response), WE (read myself and the beta team) are of course trying to ensure that the game plays well and that the campaigns are well balanced... BUT with complete honesty and since we are speaking of fairness, is it completely reasonable/fair to assume that we will design campaigns that perfectly satisfy everyone's idea of the perfect set of WWII European Theater campaigns? I will be the first to admit that I am not perfect so any reasonable response must be that there will always be those who disagree with a certain design decision, or disagree with the commanders list or disagree with whatever, and in that respect we offer the Editor. Now, it is not to downplay your ideas or anyone else's ideas for the game, it is just a fact of life that some ideas just might not be included and/or we also reserve the right to disagree with you as well What I believe is this, we will do as good a job as possible wrt the campaigns, and whenever someone mentions the use of the Editor, think of it as simply a way of saying, don't sweat it, in the worst case you will have the chance to edit it yourself. After all is this not a MUCH better compromise/set of options than what was available for SC1? We think so.
  13. Yes, I actually think Kuni has a strong point here. Let's face it, the campaigns will undoubtedly be perfect and absolutely satisfy everyone's idea of what should and should not be in them so no real need for an editor at all. On the flip-side though, for those who *might* actually disagree with any of the design decisions, that will be very unlikely (read above arguments), and for those who might actually want to tinker with the game and create new scenarios/campaigns... well you guys will be out of luck
  14. It might not be exactly what you are after but we do have a new reinforcement feature, the 'elite' reinforcements option. Pretty much this allows you to reinforce a unit without any experience loss but at a higher cost.
  15. Very understandable, and we hope to have some new info/screenshots soon....
  16. Hi Dennis, Unfortunately, we're not responsible (nor can we change much) about how D2D/Gamespy is handling all this license stuff. We also have no access to the licensing process itself, so we cannot help you to re-activate the license. I'm afraid that you will have to keep bugging D2D in order to solve this. I would also recommend taking a look at their support links: http://www.direct2drive.com/staticpage.aspx?topic=help Hope this helps, Hubert
  17. Just wanted to pop in to add a few comments wrt this topic. Officially, editing the graphics, sounds, and/or the campaigns using the editor are perfectly fine and in fact encouranged, BUT, discussions and/or questions related to *hacking* the game code to play in a manner not originally designed or intended is unfortunately unacceptable within these forums. So we ask that you kindly respect this and consider it off topic. Now, just for some background on this (and of course this does not cover all of the reasons), one of the main strengths of SC, in terms of game play and overall sales, relies on the fact that all players have access to an identical version of SC that plays in a manner in which it was originally intended to play. What this does is create a level playing field for all players and it is hoped that in this way competitive play via PBEM or TCP/IP is fair and relatively free from cheating. Now, while it would also be nice to be able to *hack* the game to play in a variety of alternate forms, this would in the end be very damaging to current and future sales (wargame sales is a tough enough business as it is) as it would extend gameplay beyond that for which the product was originally priced and intended. So what can Battlefront and I do to relieve the suffering? Well, first off we have tried to put out a game that has been reasonably priced (with qualitative value in return) and at the same time listen to what players like, dislike and presumably want. In the end I think we have listened and the success or failure of SC2 (with its extensive editing capabilites) will be the judge of that. In the meantime we just ask for your continued support and of course patience, thanks!
  18. Ok, ok, here are a few more Bones Iceland yes, Greenland no. This could change but at the moment I just have it modelled as a Neutral land mass... BUT you could get your naval units trapped up there when Arctic ice forms during the winter. Here's a snapshot of U-29, apparently looking for some convoys to hunt, but caught in some winter ice instead! More on the rest soon...
