  1. Fileplanet is indeed free, but you need to register for it. Also might have to wait in line too. This is why I use FileFront most of the time, it's free and no need to register. Here's the CMBB patches for you.
  2. Is that the Warthog sim from back around mid 90s? That game was great, I remember using that chaingun, good fun. You know with all the popular A10, Apache, AC-130 gunship videos from Iraq and Afganistan I'm surprised we haven't seen more sims of these aircraft. The recent CoD 4 game with the gunship mission was a fan fav. Blowing sh*t up using different optics is just plain fun. Here it is, ahh the memories...
  3. Oh yeah, I signed up on that website a few years ago or whenever they started it, but I forgot all about it. I did play in a league(forgot what it was) way back in the mod days. IIRC this iron crescendo tourney is similar to that one which is great for more casual players, no hassles like with clans. Definitely gonna check it out again though.
  4. I'm on vacation right now, so my copy should be sitting on my porch. But whenever I get back and have time for it I'll be sure to post some feedback on it. If you want to, go check gamerankings.com for feedback too.
  5. Now I'm no WWII expert, but I did stay in a Holiday Inn Express last night. Hehe I had to, couldn't resist. But I just so happened to read the second chapter of "T-34 In Action" a few hours ago. It discusses all kinds of tech specs about the tank like the engine, tracks, transmission, hatches, gunsights, ammo, etc. It's primarliy about the early war models and some briefly about the T-34/85. But since the earlier models supposedly used the canister shells the most when compared to the later models. I was surprised that the canister round wasn't mentioned at all. It only mentioned AP, HE, and tungsten shells. Not that this is definitive or anything and I really don't even care. I bought the book for the memoirs which appear to start in the next chapter.
  6. Now that we finally have the Marines forums I can finally ask this question. Will whores be modeled in the game? Our marines need the best in R&R activities.
  7. When did the BF forums initially come up? I'm guessing late 98 to early 99.
  8. Your exactly right, I never played the older board wargames. I admit I would never have said that if I had known it was you working on the game. I'm sorry for being rude . The closest I came to board/hex game for the pc was Korsun Pocket. I did get into it a little bit. The only board wargames, now using this term very lightly, I played when I was a kid was Risk and Stratego. I did start playing games on my dads pc in the early 80s though(long live Car Wars). And I still think B-17 Bomber for the Intellivision is one of the best games ever made.
  9. I don't want to seem shallow, but then again I am so therefore this will. Those two girls up front in that picture are smokin hot. Are they spoken for? If not I'd like to make my reservation now please. Seriously though, my dad and his girlfriend are bed & breakfast fanatics. I'm gonna pass this site onto him. He's retiring soon and has already mentioned taking a European trip. Where exactly is this place at? I see it says it's in East Sussex and near Rye and Winchelsea, where ever those places are.
  10. Ok, this sounds good to me, I was ok with the overall scale of HOI, but the RT gameplay had me fumbling around too much. For a game with such large scale, it felt like turn-based would better suit it. Also nice to hear it is simplified some. On that note, I'm gonna pull out my credit card and head over to the gogamer site.
  11. Oh no, not this baseball thread again. When does the hockey(real mans sport) season start back up? IIRC early October, can't wait to watch my beloved wings repeat next year. GO WINGS !!!
  12. That screenshot made me almost vomit.
  13. This game just went on sale for $5.90 over at gogamer.com. (no I will not post a link to it, I learned my lesson) Anybody here play Hearts of Iron II? If so, how does this game play compared to that? My friend got into it heavily, but I just couldn't. I found it way too tedious and it gave me headaches, literally. But for only 6 bucks I would be willing to give Garys World at War a try.
  14. You guys need to get a life... (Yet another thread that has me off to buy even more books to add to a huge stack that would take 5 lifetimes to read through... you bastards! lol)
  15. Well it's now official, GTA4 will be coming to the PC this Nov. Bah, that new OFP2 video looks to be CG again, can't they just show us some in-game footage. As for the reload time of the Abrams, it's about 4 seconds, at least according to
  16. This is good to hear gunner, thanks for the feedback. I will probably buy it.
  17. Thats not entirely true, I have read that some games give you the option between DX9 and DX10(Bioshock, Crysis). But these are newer games, I guess the old games like CMx1 would require somekind of a patch/update.
  18. So I take it when playing CMx1 with Vista and a DX10 card that the DX10 drivers are being used? If this is the case, then is it possible to make CMx1 run under the DX9 drivers?
  19. Ok sorry about that Moon. Yeah the direct link to the game is the part I was unsure about. For now on for me, when in doubt, don't post the link. Btw, do I hold the dirty sacred priviledge of being the first with an infraction on the new forums? Hell yeah man, Vietcong is not only the best Vietnam based FPS, but one of the best FPS I've ever played. I too played through the x-pack Fist Alpha. Amazing to me this game received only average reviews when it was released. I played it online quite a bit too, theres still a decent crowd playing online even today. I also got Vietcong 2(gogamer sale too) despite the bad reviews. But it does runs like crap and is nowhere near as polished as the original. Just another rush job to try and cash in on the originals success. I'm well aware this "Men of Valor" FPS doesn't hold up to the same standard that Vietcong set. But figured for only $2.90 what the hell.
  20. Correct me if I'm wrong, but the primary problem is with Nvidias 8800 cards not working in Vista when playing CMx1. Not necessarily an incompatibility with CMBB and Vista. At least thats how I understood it, since I too will be getting a new pc soon. But I'm still contemplating sticking with XP.
  21. Like me, I know there was a few around here that was interested in this game. At least in the old forum. It was released in April of last year to pretty bad reviews. See for yourself, Gamespot 3.6 and another low 1up score here. But the point of this thread is a heads up about gogamer.com that is pretty much giving them away for only $1.90 from their 48hr madness sale. Anyways, just wanted to pass the word on. I also picked up another Vietnam era game, an FPS called "Men of Valor" for only $2.90. Hope this thread is ok and doesn't fall under the category of commercial.
  22. And the morale of the story is, back-alley Sallys are best found drunk in sleazy bars.
  23. I admit before I saw it I was skeptical about all the oscar talk, was thinking it was mostly because of his death. There's been a strong oscar push from critics, fans, and the media at the release of the movie. Theres no doubt he deserves consideration, but can't help thinking its partly due to his death as well.
  24. (I have zero military experience) Couldn't there be anything done to get that piece of **** relieved of his command? The part where he guns down an unarmed iraqi and then the one guy says "I didn't see what the sarge saw". I guess my question is, does loyalty to fellow comrades supercede such acts? I certainly hope not, no matter how young and dumb. For those that read the book. In this story, I take it the reporter only heard about this incident and didn't see it? Overall, how accurate is the mini-series to the book so far?
