  1. It's about to get a whole lot worse as the Peng thread from the CMSF forum is at 299 posts. So the tragic and traumatizing transfer to the new CMBN is imminent.
  2. Enough of this foreplay, let's get down to brass tacks, will there be cowbell or not?
  3. I always thought it was because of no talent and a secret deal with the devil. Rated R http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lv2qLOiioPc&feature=related Just replace the 80s pop stars with new ones of today.
  4. I got two words for you: Tank Warning You gotta have a remake of this classic you made for CMBB. Yes, it does not matter if they are two different fronts.
  5. Right, which probably everybody in this thread already knew besides the OP. Which is precisely why I asked this on the first page. I don't think there was any response to it, unless I missed it.
  6. On that note, I'd like to create a brand new faction out of this whole Op/Campaign can of worms. I'd like to call it: "CMx2 Campaigns made a CMx1 Op lover out of me!" This will be our tagline, also can be used for bumper stickers and T-shirts. (Disclaimer: Technically this faction has existed since CMSF shipped in 2007. But our numbers will grow as more returning CMx1 players are exposed to the new campaigns.)
  7. Hey Scipio, I quoted myself from an earlier thread about this. I'm referring to the German DAR thread.
  8. Thanks again for the DAR guys, great job on it! In regards to 'what's next', I have two acronyms for you: QB DAR or maybe video of somebody going through the QB process.
  9. Most probably share those WOW moments and many more, I know I do. Which is exactly why it should of never been thrown out like garbage. It's like playing a videogame in beta stage and saying "Oh this sucks, stop making it now!". YankeeDog, there already was a great foundation made over a decade ago. The CMx1 Ops were never worked on again after CMBO.
  10. This is all hypothetical, so somewhat pointless. But do you honestly think adding scenario string cams to CMx1 would be more difficult than adding CMx1 Ops features to CMx2?
  11. I think with the release of the new CMBN and influx of new players, old and new, the Campaign/Op topic will be brought up more often. Especially from the returning CMx1 players. I still think, even more so CMBN post-launch, if there was a poll option for the forums we could show BF that most in fact do consider CMx1 Ops over the new CMx2 scenario-string-campaigns. Sure it was flawed, no debating that, but it had far more potential than the current CMx2 cam. Not that it matters now anyway, it's dead and buried. I know I'm considered a passionate Op lover, but the funny thing is, and in all honesty, I'm not. It's the disappointment of the new CMx2 scenario-string-campaign that has made me one. Like that old adage, you don't know what you got until it's gone.
  12. Yeah I was gonna say wait a minute. This is a hardcore simulation. It takes far more than just skill to be a solid fighter online. Keep the shoot-em-up twitch crowd comments away. Grant it, having mad skillz always helps! There's just something about getting shot down in a monster dogfight that is just..... humbling. Far far far far more than any other game where there's shooting at each other in some form or another. Recall the overwhelming feeling of helplessness when you know your tangling with somebody very good. I still remember my first kill online, like 8 years ago. lol (Ah the memories!) Oh boy, I've put down IL2 a few years ago, so very much looking forward to this. Just as much as CMBN and RO2. Now the checklist: New graphics card: check - GTX 570 (only 1 week old now) New flight stick: nope - (old Saitek is a bit creaky by now) TrackIR: nope - (always wanted this, but never got around to it, said I'd get one for the new IL2) Damn, I just busted a load on that new card too.
  13. IIRC, Steve has mentioned in the past that persistent map damage and vehicle wrecks will make it back in. When that actually will be is anyone's guess. No redrawing of a frontline is planned at all. No rolling huge map to travel across. But this can be semi-simulated by the scenario designer by creating the end of the previous map onto the start of the next map. I'd like to see Steve weigh in on this for an update or maybe to correct me if I'm wrong. What are the next planned improvements for the campaign system and when can we expect them? As it stands now, I consider the CMx1 Ops superior to CMx2 campaigns.
  14. Yeah man, glad you like it. Huge Hicks fan here, he was ahead of his time and seemed to be getting bigger and bigger until his death in 94. RIP Goatboy! There's a new documentary about him called "American: the Bill Hicks Story". It will be coming to select theaters in April. Details here. I'm sure my local theaters won't have it so I'll be getting it on blu ray eventually. In light of the great quote from earlier in the thread. I thought this video was prudent. Also you can easily update it for the times, just replace Vanilla Ice with Justin Beiber and MC Hammer with Taylor Swift and replace Marky Mark with... oh let's see, how about Tim McGraw. There, the video is fully updated for 2011.
  15. Hehe, good stuff, amazing the girl flipped out. It's so easy to just join another passworded channel on vent. Don't see why they didn't. I played a lot of Age of Conan in a guild and I did something similar to this. Not to cause trouble like that guy did, but just for fun in the guild. It's especially funny when people have no idea what it's from.
  16. Not a bad idea, but sorta defeats the purpose for attending.
  17. Hehe, Butthole Surfers, first time I dropped acid I heard their remake of Donvans and loved it. I remember it was 4th of July weekend with amazing fireworks. Well at least with my perception of reality that night, everything was amazing. (this was also in 91, their Piouhgd album just came out) Also really like their Pepper song too. Anybody else like Clutch around here? I must of seen them over a dozen times by now. They're great live. First saw them at the 9:30 as well. I remember they had to stop playing Binge & Purge because there was just too many fights breaking out. LOL I think this was in 93.
  18. Very nice, I was a bit too young at that time and had to resort to Headbangers Ball on Friday nights. I didn't get to my first show until 91 at the 9:30 club in DC. It was a little band at the time nobody really knew about, it was Nirvana. Their big Nevermind album hit like two months later.
  19. Oh hell yeah, good ole Ministry, hearing that just brought back memories of a misspent youth. I had my whole life ahead of me, all I had to worry about was to party and get laid. Speaking of Ministry, can't go wrong with Jesus Built My Hotrod. I also liked Scarecrow too. P.S. Next time your starting out a PBEM, tell and link your opponent: "Sargent D is coming, and you're on his list" You never know, it may scare him or at the least give him a headache. LOL
  20. I don't understand the point in comparing real WWII cas rates with a videogame. How is a game developer suppose to make people play as if their real life is on the line? It's simply not possible. Which is the main reason why a game will never accurately reflect cas rates from a real war. Also, who would want to play a game that is more about brief recon-to-contact skirmishes with a lot of falling back? Sure this type of action was far more common than assaults, but also less fun for players of a videogame. In RO now there is a kinda jarring, screen shake, or screen blur to give the player more of a feeling of being suppressed. But I think overall a morale/suppression system is more psychological. So again, hard to do when no real lives are on the line. Completely disagree with you on this. The number one complaint by new players is that it's too hard to hit your mark. Grant it, you probably like I have, become a master with the bolt rifles. But it can still be very difficult to a hit a moving target at range. Out of all the games I've played the small arms modeling in RO is the most rewarding since it required lots of practice. At least much more than the typical run & gun shooter.
