  1. Thanks for your efforts FMB. Plz let us know when your revised version is up.
  2. Someone told me he has the CM1 games on a flash drive so can carry them around and play on any computer. I know that the CM1 games play fine on my Win7. Do the new elicense versions (which I recently bought for emergencies only) have any extra stuff on them compared to the originals (scenarios, mods or any upgrades)?
  3. Hmm... Never fails to peak my curiousity re who the primary customer is, since the gaming fraternity loves the sight of blood lol.
  4. Better to get a 2nd job so you can buy a system powerful enuff to run it. Seriously tho', just awesome work. And I hope my new system has the guts to run it.
  5. Don't get me wrong, I am a big fan of CMSF and frequently promote it on BoB etc. As you may recall, I used to be a major detractor from CMSF v1 and became a convert as it has became patched into a superb game. Possibly some of the original vitriol towards CMSF by many was also caused by CM1 fans assuming was going to be CM1 on steroids (due to the similar name), rather than a rather different game experience. But, I appreciate the marketing reasons for exploiting the name. However, I think that many others play CM1 for different reasons than CMSF. You can play an almost an operational-strategic level game with CM1 due to the larger maps and the fact that it's easier to control larger numbers of units. Also, CM1 is just plain easier/more accessible (for the casual player) when you want to have a fun game, rather than a grueling simulation experience, which is what CMSF offers. Both experiences are great fun, but I find CMSF to be much harder work re checking LOS, trying to figure out what terrain my guys are in etc., and errors are punished much more severely than in CM1. I still prefer to play CMSF vs the AI as after 2 years I am still constantly stopping and restarting saved games to figure out what I did wrong and how to do things better. It can start to feel like hard work. That is why I believe CM1 will be popular for some time to come, regardless of the success of the CM2 series.
  6. Yes, apologies. I didn't realize you simply meant copy and paste. In case you hadn't noticed, I'm one of the people that need crayon level instructions. (And I have worked with computer programmers and on DOD contracts!!) Er... and now I have figure out what Glovepie actually does. I only read your comment that I thought was saying how easy programming is... The content of your post went over my head lol.
  7. "That means you've got to be at the right latitude and longitude to get the sunsets and sunrises right. In December 1 sun-up is 7am and sundown is 5pm. On July 1 sun-up is 4:45 and sundown is 7:30 pm. A big difference for conducting operations. the CM game engine is more subtle than you may think." You think that matters to 99% of the gamers? What a lot of effort, when there's no time for other stuff that people actually want... I don't understand what difference real time makes when the game clock simply runs down from start time. If it gave us real time, or if your market is Defense Agencies I can understand...
  8. ...demonstrate how truly EASY it is to script..." AAAAAAARGH! Remind me to demonstrate how truly easy it is to win DOD contracts. (Yes, it's all in the mind.)
  9. Why be forced to join yet another club that wants information from us that (regardless of their policy today) they may sell to yet another spammer in the future? STEAM etc seem made for online play where you want to find oppos, teams etc. PS: I appreciate it's frustrating for BFC, but from what I can see, CM1 is still way more popular than CM2. CM2 is a terrific game. But, I find myself burning out after every 2 or 3 months CMSF play and have to return to the "mothership "CM1 for 6 months or so to recharge. That passion and loyalty could be thought of as a very good thing if exploited appropriately.
  10. "The stars in the sky wouldn't even be correct for Afghanistan!" LOL... Is that what you spend your game time watching. You must have been joking, right?
  11. Re high end laptops or desktops, I recommend an outfit in CA: XI Computers. Not as cheap as Dell obviously, but they can make what you want.
  12. So ArmA is entertainling vs the AI? If so, I'll pick it up. These shooters are fun occasionally.
  13. I honestly hope you turn out to be correct.
  14. I understand your point, Mord. But, regardless of the fact that there may be close to 100x more CM1 scenarios available, I find the % of good scenarios in CMSF seems smaller than in CM1. It's a delightful surprise when I find a really good CMSF scenario that doesn't feel cookie cutter.
  15. MeatEtr: Actually I am only going through the solitaire BF2 game not Bad Company. I rarely play these games, but have enjoyed the two WW2 RTS series games (whose names I have already forgotten). It's just nice for a change to fire and hear all those automatic weapons lol. I have a pretty decent 30" Dell LCD giving me approx 2800x1800 @ 60Hz. Maybe I can get higher refresh at lower res. Is LCD at 60HZ a headache inducing res? Akuma. Thanks for the info. I'll try it (one day). But RT multiplayer online scares me a bit as I am usually working at the same time, so PBEM or vs the AI is safer in case I have to rush off to do something productive (admittedly not too often). But, am just as happy booting up some golden oldies like Rome Total War, KOTOR etc. Now I have a new powerful system I tried Flashpoint, which in the past was too demanding for my old system. But, was very disappointed with it, the way infantry moved etc. Seemed a bit like the "America's Army" thing where you would be running around like demented rabbits. What can I say... I'm just old and joints have 2 much arthritis to do the wrist twitch thing.
  16. I noticed in Road to Dinas first time I played the campaign ended abruptly due to too high casualties. Probably a good thing as it would be frustrating playing a hopeless situation campaign. Regarding regular scenarios, thos also tend to end too soon with your victory as the AI calculates the AI enemy has no hope, whenin fact they seem to have a fair amount of capacity. I understand that too quick ending this can be avoided by adding enemy reinforcements that would arrive only after the game ends, and this will keep the on map guys fighting to the bitter end, (or at least till one achieves a satisfying victory).
  17. Looks really amazing work R. Thanks. Any eta on the completed mod? (Not sure if if it's worth to d/l the beta.)
  18. What is ArmA 2 about - a BF2 mod? And what do you like about it? (Will see if I want to try it?)
  19. yes there are NW europe scenarios (and NW Europe mods) you can find at BFC repository and other sites - see links.
  20. Initially I wuz dismayed and frustrated at the relative poverty of the Brits gear. But, I ended up enjoying mastering their systems and enjoy playing the Brits more than the US. One has to be rather more clever/skillful imo. 90% of US tactics seem to be using their massive firepower to blow up everything before moving in. Not much subtlety. A couple of terrific Brit scenarios are "Royal Mud Marines" and "Joint Venture". Both at the repository.
  21. Thanks but rarely enjoy RTS games - eg: am playing BF2 for a change in pace, but literally get a headache after an couple hours. AKUMASD: I KNEW someone was going to ask and I had deleted the show. I think it was called "Rethink Afghanistan". Actually, I just Googled it. Hope this is it: http://www.commondreams.org/newswire/2009/02/27-12
