  1. Well, Battle of the Bulge is a classic scenario that may have inspired the most cardboard games ever. And a pretty high % of the better tactical-operational computer games. But, on the whole, East Front games have always been the big seller historically. (Normandy = yawn, unless you're under 25 maybe and always like to be on the winning side.)
  2. These are good questions as I tried putting them on higher ground with great fields of view, and also close to the units I was trying to defend. My only conclusion was that one needs 2+ AA units covering friendlies to be "reasonably confident" of the effect of AA on attacking aircraft. My questions: 1) When firing at aircraft does placing AA in short LOS terrain limit firing at aircraft, or does the system calculate that since the unit is firing into the air it can see and shoot ok. 2) When you surround your units with AA, is there an enhanced "triangulation effect" on attacking aircraft?
  3. It sounds like a lot of fun... But, I can't help think that charging MG's with men in jeeps would never happen in RL - that's the AI having some fun cos it knows the game" system/programming" better than we do lol.
  4. Thank you Aris... Just to confirm, there are no variants for the mid version(?)
  5. Thanks. It would be helpful to have more info re the scenario and if this is H2H, or vs AI etc.
  6. Amazing that they could produce an anti-war film so recently after the RL events. Thanks for the synopsis link. That was helpful.
  7. I believe it is true... and like most posters on these forums, that's good enuff for us... Merry Xmas btw!
  8. Note that this won't happen in Campaigns where you lose a platoon HQ. Not only is the HQ not replaced in subsequent battles, but no higher level HQ will give C2 to the leaderless subordinate. (BFC say they're working on the problem.)
  9. Take a break, Aris! We really don't want you to overdo it and get burned out. I think if BFC banned you from the forums for a week, you'd get recharged. And Merry Xmas to you and yours!
  10. Band of Brothers on YUKU... http://webandofbrothers.yuku.com/
  11. Downloaded all the Italian stuff I could find from CMMODS. Again, anyone have a comprehensive list so I can see if I am missing anything?
  12. Well, they... they... were lucky to HAVE chutes. The Russians dropped men without parachutes at all! IIRC they found that they suffered fewer casualties dropping men into snow drifts without chutes than with... until the Germans started painting hard surfaces to look like snow drifts...
  13. Yes. Sort of a Russian "Vietnam" film re Afghanistan complete with "Apocalypse Now" style helicopter attacks. I may watch it also...
  14. Is that a gravestone on the left? Instant tank war memorial as well...
  15. Thanks Stoex, I will re-download. I have the "Sherman extras" and "50 cal"... Maybe I missed the mortars... And +1 to what you said to Fuser/Aris... It's like a new game with your mods! Hope you have a restful Xmas and New Year week and you get refreshed and do not burn out from doing all this work...
  16. Wow... good looking movie. Now I wish I'd spent time learning Russian!
  17. I agree... I miss the huge CM1 scenarios. In addition, CM1 was more of an armor/maneuver game with inf as support (which I really liked). CMBN is more of an infantry sim game with armor in support. It's the average players' computers that have problems with battalion and larger scenarios. The CM2 engine needs to be optimized, or we all have to buy a new generation of computers to run it.
  18. There was a test campaign called GERBER'S HEROES that comprised of small scenarios. Not sure if it was ever released.
  19. It simulates The Rapture. Amazing level of detail in CM2!
  20. I looked at (all four) of my M4A3 model mods by Aris and I cannot find any mortars. So, I will appreciate having them in the upcoming mod.
  21. What you're saying sounds believable. But documentary footage does show em firing broadsides - at least for the cameras.
  22. Ai is the hardest thing to program well. The online games are basically cheap and lazy as they don't have AI, and if they do have a solitaire version the AI is lousy. Have to hand it to BFC as they are about the only company left who puts real effort into making good AI.
  23. Looks quite good. But, some crewman talks about his "Challenger" pranging the Tiger, but all the Allied tanks look like Shermans. Or, did I hear him wrong?
