  3. +1 to a "Follow Command" like in CM1. That was indeed useful (Ambush as well).
  4. Hey BJ, may need to give us some instruction as to which are the final updated versions. I have been collecting ALL of them and renumbering as needed to prevent overwriting. I didn't realize they were supposed to replace earlier camo mods. What are the improvements that you made to the ealier versions? I find it hard to tell, and it's a major PITA to load the game, look at the mod, unload the game, change the mod, load the game, and look at the new version (assuming you can remember what the previous one looked like at this point) and on and on...
  5. I would recommend fading it a bit to show wear and tear. Most uniform mods look like they just came from the supply store (or dry cleaners). BTW: I have so many dozens of SS uniform and helmet mods now. It is appropriate to just put em in the same folder (renumbering as needed) or are some camo designs unique to certain divisions... eg 12th SS?
  6. NK and/or China are the biggys of course. But, other than in the "Red Dawn" remake where they changed a Chinese invasion of the US to a laughable NK invasion, it's politically hard to make games on those subjects. Otherwise, we would have had Israel vs the Arabs years ago.
  7. +1 for this as well. ATGM vehicles with telescopic masts are currently death traps: "1.) Multiple points of LOS generation from vehicles. This one is major because currently LOS comes from only from the center of vehicles now, resulting in ATGM vehicles and recon vehicles with mast-mounted sensors being nothing but cannon and ATGM fodder in CMSF1. Until this is fixed there will be a large number of modern systems that will be broken in the simulation." Also, I understood (from documentaries on Iraq etc) that ground controllers do give a direction of attack for air, and friendlies pop smoke to show positons etc. Re political realities in the region for Russia attacking Ukraine and dragging NATO is very low probability due to economics. There is massive western investment in Russia (raise your hand if you own products like LETRX) and Russia has massive exports (and imports) from NATO nations as well. This new reality more than anything bodes well for resolutions other than widespread war... (localized, limited is always a possibility of course).

  9. Anything can set off mines, moving slow is the "safest" option but not 100%.

  11. Can't recall as I played a long time ago. But, I wanted to give it a +1 for a great campaign. (I do not recall any bonus scenario, but may be wrong...)
  12. I wasn't aware of Marco's "compass points in the sky" mod. That's what I want. Is that in repository or CMMODS?
  13. I understand. But, this is not the only weapons system in CM2 that uses a particular type of ammo first before other types. For example WW2 rifles use any "AP" ammo first as well. Of course in game terms it may not make any discernable difference at all which ammo is used. There is no point in making extra work just for a principle. But, you professionals can address whether it does or not.
  14. They could be like linear arty calls? Right now, the length (meters) of some air attacks seem awfully long even when one calls for a point or small area attack.
  15. AFAIK - Apparently there is a tiny % probability that an inf unit will spot a minefield. There is a greater % probability that an engineer will. The only way to clear a minefield is to blow enough of it up - by super heavy arty, or running across it with inf or vehicles till they've all been blowed up.
  16. It always puzzled me why in a realistic sim we have been lumbered with this non-RL "device". If you just want an orientation aid, the old "N" on CM1 maps made it easy.

  18. I need to try Fire Brigade again. But, I spent hours doing set up, then saved and exited. And I couldn't get that saved file to load.

  20. Glad to find that out too. Wish there was a way to specify which type to fire. IIRC the game fires all the PPEH firsy(?) Or is that doctrine?
  21. Maybe I misunderstood. I thought his point was that even if you pause at a waypoint for 5 or 30 seconds for an accurate shot, you won't get the accuracy you should expect.
