  1. Has anyone considered that fewer turns may make the files too large? In some scenarios, the turn files are huge. Well over 1.5 MB. In order to send the files, I had to break them in two parts, and my opponent had to recombine them before playing the turn. This is because some email systems set limits on the size of attached files.
  2. I have to agree with Panzer Leader on this one. Post any message in the opponent finder forum, and you will be bombarded with unsolicited emails, from people you've never even seen posting. Once your name is seen regularly on the forum, they think it's "safe" to try and get a game. Not all of these people are cluless; I've gotten some very good, long term opponents this way. But I do object to any kind of public flogging. After all, many are newbies, trying a game with a human opponent for the first time. Many are trying to avoid being labeled as "gamey" at all costs. And, it isn't very fun to be trashed completely, when they might have thought they had things figured out. Almost anyone can give the AI a good thrashing, but get thrashed themselves against a human. Should have let it drop after the first page, IMHO.
  3. Ooh, ooh, grog fight! Grab your lawn chairs and beers, gents. First to get a ringside seat. We can make bets on it. Lengthy posts, containing a host of irrelevant facts and stats. Throw your worst boys!
  4. Lars , you're supposed to skip right over the double dare, and go straight to the "double dog dare". Then accuse him of being chicken. Follow the forms, man!
  5. And, HERE it is. Now, that's "what a b*ttload of filthy ‘merkin lucre will do."
  6. Check out that cheezy carved knife he's trying to get 250 bucks for. What a ripoff.
  7. It's quiet, because all the normally verbose posters are busy playtesting the final version of CM:BB. Lucky ba$tards!
  8. I have to disagree. If this is the case, and it appears historical accuracy is out the window, buy lots of TD's, Sturats and vanilla Shermans. Swarm him. And yes, you will lose some. But 2 Stuarts for every KT is a bargain. Get bunches of armor, divide them in two groups, and rush the flanks.
  9. Gyrene, you are a real wanker. Just think of the newbies, pining away. Give 'em all a break. And are we ever gonna finish that game?
  10. {sigh} I suppose the Justicar is not going to save me from this one. So much for bureaucratic officials. I at least expected some red tape to tie things up. My leige, I await your command. Or, upon sobering, your dismissal as another error in judgement. You have been strangely silent of late. Has the well of words gone dry?
  11. Uh, is this in written stone? I mean, do I have to? Really? Oh, to abandon the security of anonymous serfdom, to be indebted to such a Knigget. The horrors of the squirely duties. We all can imagine the condition of ol' "Senile Tea's" armor (note obligatory reference to the Thread of all Threads), what with all the outerboard trolling he does. And recently, the shoveling of snow; his mail boots have got to be one big hunk of rust. Not to mention that I may become fair game for that most dastardly of the Grand Dames, Persephone . Oh, the humanity! Is there no upstanding knight (okay, I realize they're all face down in the gutters. It's a figure of speach, dammit!) that will rescue me from this fate? Isn't there some loophole I can wriggle through? Never any [shyster] lawyers [/shyster] around when you need them. Fist of all, (See? I didn't have to edit your post, Joe . You screwed it up all on your lonesome), it was you , the Justicar his own self, that did recognize and elevate me to serfdom. Are you now doubting your own judgement? Did you "elevate an idjit"? Serious charges from the officer of the 'pool. So, what is it? If you deemed me worthy, than how can you abandon me to such a fate? If not, than you need to press charges on yourself. Quite the sticky dilema here, folks.
  12. Uh, 3 out of 4 is half? What are ya, edge-a-ma-kate-ded in public schools? It weren't me confuser, it be me damned ISP. They is been told to fix stuff. And knock off the bolding, dammit. I is a serf. Edited to say that Patch's latest pic is quite disturbing. I'm glad us lowly types haven't got our pictures posted. [ March 29, 2002, 09:08 PM: Message edited by: R_Leete ]
  13. Quick update: Crodaburg, otherwise known as "how not to attack fortified positions": The German reinforcements have arrived. Boo Radley is not pleased, to say the least. I'm beginning to see your creative genius, Sir Croda . No reply from Tank Man. Methinks you have scared him off. Hey, it worked!
  14. Of course the best thing is to agree on "terms" beforehand. Otherwise, just stick to semi-historical, and usually this is fine. If your opponent complains, but never brought it up before, just agree to set restrictions on the next one. Generally avoiding the "jeep rush" type stuff eliminates most disagreements. On the other hand, a prearranged "be as gamey as you possibly can" type of battle can be highly entertaining. Just make sure your opponent knows about it before starting.
  15. Care to enlighten us, Skipper? Duh, I kin type. [ March 21, 2002, 08:17 PM: Message edited by: R_Leete ]
  16. BTS has stated that there will be no "what if" battles such as US vs. Russia. They have been quite emphatic about this. I'd post a link, but I'm too lazy to search.
  17. Nope. Never did take no stock o' them dang foreign type words. We is true blue 'mericuns in this here country. Nuthin' but good ol' Inglish fer me. Yessiree, bob.
  18. Having been elevated to the lofty perch of serf, you can commence losing at any time. And you know where to put those kisses wanker. P.S. I hope you were dead tired at work today. I got to sleep in.
  19. Agreed. They let Lorak back in. Talk about your missed opportunities...
  20. Update time: Seanachai and I are coming down to the wire. Hand-to-hand, and all the goodness that entails. Should be close, and very bloody. Next time, get some armor, Gnome. Elvis: Gamey last turn flag rush was all that saved his sorry butt. That and copious amounts of artillery. Note that my flag rush was one turn previous to his, so as to not be gamey at all. Let that be a lesson to you not to leave a Priest sitting all by it's lonesome. MarkIV has been missing in action for some time now. Anybody heard from that californicator? Tank man has not returned the setup of "crodaburg". Can you blame him? He may be smarter than his posts would indicate. Boo Radley is creeping forward slowly. Right into the TRPs, that's a good boy. He's blowing more smoke than a hippie at Woodstock. My 88 pillbox is nailing tanks each time it fires. He might have some left to get blasted by my Panthers, but not many.
