  1. Hi Dave, Just want to post a quick note - I think it is pretty cool that you are willing to post here and admit that you were wrong in your assumptions before. I am a big fan of BFC and pretty much everything associated with the Combat Mission universe, but that support, loyalty and respect from me has been well earned by these guys and was not just blindly given. I like what these guys are about and what they are trying to do. jw [ November 19, 2002, 08:41 AM: Message edited by: jwxspoon ]
  2. Voxman - Please post the location of maps meeting your standard. I would like to see them so that I can improve my childish efforts. jw [ November 18, 2002, 09:18 AM: Message edited by: jwxspoon ]
  3. Hmm, My 3 favorites so far are as follows: 1. Kalinin Raid 2. Viennese Waltz 3. Danube Blues I must admit to being the designer of the 3rd one, but I can't help designing scenarios I like to play. jw
  4. Thanks Anton, I have gotten a lot of feedback on this one. Part of what I have seen is a bunch of messages saying "There is no way for the ___ side to win!" Insert German or Russian in the blank above. What that tells me is that good tactics and luck will be the deciding factor. I have played this scenario 5 or 6 times and it has never been a blowout for either side, which bears out the results of our playtesting. jw [ November 17, 2002, 11:28 AM: Message edited by: jwxspoon ]
  5. Hans, I did something similar. I looked up the armament and then dug in vehicles and pillboxes in the location I wanted; then went back into the editor and added the train tracks. It is immobile but will give you the effect. I don't think they fired much on the move, anyway. jw
  6. I have included an Armored Train in my new scenario "Taking the Train", which is in the pipeline at Boots & Tracks. Obviously there are no specific armored train type tiles in CMBB, but I think I came as close as possible. Look for it after testing in a month or so. jw
  7. 6th Army Probe is designed for 2 player, or Axis against the AI. My City of Ruins is designed for 2 player. jw
  8. Moon, we need to get you on that antique show on tv, where they identify items people bring in. jw
  9. wwb is right on target here. While zipping the file will not really make it any smaller, it will really help at keeping the file intact as the different email providers handle it. jw
  10. Try the Gforce2 64MB card, you should be able to pick one up for under $50 For $100 or so you can pick up one of the GForce4 cards. jw
  11. I have tested some of Franko's CMBB stuff, and I can tell you they are first class, as good or better than anything else I have seen. You guys are in for a treat! jw
  12. Thanks Keth - once again I freely admit that you are "the man". jw
  13. Hey Keth, any word on when the system will stop counting "0" in the overall calculation? I did an all "0" review for Approach to Stalingrad to point out hte incorrect dating and inadvertently destroyed his review numbers when my 0's were averaged in. jw
  14. Just for fun and because I had some extra time, I replayed this one today as Axis against the AI. Finished out with a minor victory, 2 T34's left alive and one Stug of mine, but the flags in my (axis possession). jw
  15. lol - that serves to point out again what many have said, these scenarios need a better description of how they are best played. I am as guilty a many of the designers for not doing a better job there. I suspect the game will be a lot closer if you play as Germans. Please let me know how it goes. jw
  16. hehe, except against the AI you should play Axis in this one. Still, an excellent result! jw
  17. Hehe, hang in there. Under testing, the Stugs were the ones that really saved the day in this one. Wins were about even, and the few victories were mostly minors or tacticals. jw
  18. I must admit that the author of this post lost me when I came to the beta tester slam section... I think that one can pick any similar game out there and find things they don't like about its interface, performance, vehicle specific issues, penetration algorithms, etc. Picking the issue that frosts you the most and getting emotional or insulting about it in your post does nothing to help make a change and simply turns off those that might be inclined to help make any necessary changes. As one of the aforementioned playtesters I admit to the urge to flame this guy when I first read the post. I can say that we did the best job we could; put many weeks and months into testing & creating scenarios for everyone to play and finding and fixing bugs. Many times we tested with no graphics, often with no sound. A few of us pulled all-nighters as deadlines approached in order to finish the scenarios and briefings. This fantastic, multifaceted game has intrigued, excited, frustrated and angered all of us at one point or another. I haven't seen any "game breaking" issues though, and hysterical postings without any scientific backing such as the one starting this thread do nothing but point out another troll. jw
