So now you have the demo - CMBB Primer
jwxspoon replied to jwxspoon's topic in Combat Mission: Barbarossa to Berlin
bump! -
Hey guys, So you've downloaded the demo? You are excited and want to jump in and start playing, right? Here are some things to remember as you get rolling: 1. As you start each scenario, make sure that the "Extreme Fog of War" is enabled. The game was designed to work with the EFOW and you will miss a LOT (no pun intended) by not playing with it on. 2. Remember you can scale your units down with the Shift-C command. 3. Many will want to use the Shift-P command in order to show all paths and targets. 4. Shift B still turns colored bases on. 5. CMBB has several levels of tree graphics. Shift T will allow you to cycle from no trees at all up to EXTREME TREES. 6. Shift-X will show all covered arcs. 7. Make sure you enable the Doodads! Shift N allows you to display terrain elements, all the way on up to EXTREME coverage. You guys get the idea. Check out the Hokeys button on the main interface. Have fun! jw

August 18, 2002; Principles Of American Infantry Training in 1914. The following excerpt is from the "Manual for Noncommissioned Officers and Privates of Infantry of the Organized Militia and Volunteers of the United States -- 1914", page 262. Inaction gives every advantage to the enemy. The offensive alone gives decisive results. A quick and energetic offensive minimizes losses. An advance against the enemy's position once entered upon must be continued. To go back under fire is to die. The best way to hold down the fire of the enemy and to diminish his power to inflict losses is to bring the position he occupies under well conducted and continued fire. Present as small a target as possible to the enemy by utilizing every bit of cover the ground affords. Individual skill in marksmanship is an advantage in battle only when united with fire discipline and control. Constant movement to the front lessens the effect of the enemy's fire. The battles of the Russo-Japanese War show that the heaviest losses are in the mid and long ranges. When close range is reached the losses diminish rapidly. -------------------------------------------------- I found the previous article on the strategy page website. jw

Another New Scenario at Boots & Tracks!
jwxspoon replied to SuperTed's topic in Combat Mission Archive #4 (2002)
Hi Alleycat - what you want to do is download the scenario file. If it is zipped, unzip it and put it in your CMBO/Scenarios folder. If it is not zipped, put it in there anyway. It should show up when you start a new game in the scenario section. jw -
Hi guys, There's a new scenario in town, called Weurzeburg Estate. Get it while it's hot! http://www.geocities.com/jwxspoon/ jw

Why can't we order CMBB via Federal Express?
jwxspoon replied to MrSpkr's topic in Combat Mission Archive #4 (2002)
hehe using Fedex, UPS and Airborne Express on a regular basis I can tell you that you wouldn't get much service for 7-8 dollars. Try doubling that. jw -
