  1. thanks for the replies fellows...I have some time today so I think I'll give Jaegermeister a go.
  2. Title says it all. I've played through a few of the scenarios on the cd but I've yet to find that battle that sticks out in my memory. My question to the board is : What would you cats consider to be the top 3 single player scenarios that come with the original CMBB cd? [ November 15, 2002, 04:05 PM: Message edited by: SgtSweatHog ]
  3. Mike, I can't resist taking a shot at a Highlander. I'm ex-reserve myself (servered in both the Newfoundland and New Brunswick Infantry regiments) and of all the names I've heard for that head-dress, Elephant Slipper was my favorite. ...as for not having to run with the c-6 tripod, then I'm assuming you've never had to do a fighting withdrawl from a defensive position. I remember humping out of positions with a ruck sack packed to the tits with ammo, a c-6 tripod straped to my chest, and a c-7 in my hand. But then again we trained hard so that other regiments didn't have to run with the c-6 tripod... If it's big and heavy and awkard to carry, and you wear the cross rifles of the ground-pounder on your Dress-Uniform, rest assured you will have to run somewhere with it. But damn if i don't miss it!
  4. There are also two rates of fire "lever" - and - "drop". Think of the firing pin as fixed on drop fire... you drop the round in, it empacts against the protruding pin, and foomp!... away it goes. With Lever fire, the pin is recessed. When the round is placed in the barrel, it lands on the base without ignition. Once the pin is tripped by the device oon the side, called the firing lever (go figure).. foomp!... money well spent. I have aminly used the platoon level motor of the CAF and I would assume it's basicially the same one modeled in the game. Besides the c-6 (GPMG), the motor was always a blast to shoot. Funny story: SOP's when using a motor are to have the base plate firmly planted in the ground before loading. You do this by basicially digging it into the ground, usually by raising it up and driving it down in the dirt. Then you take aim, load, and fire on command. Now I was in a motor pit with this wingnut and he got the procedure mixed up... So he test's and adjusts, he takes aim, I load it, and then... he gets the bright idea to replant it into the ground.... well take a guess what happend then. Foomp!.... almost straight up it went. So it all happened pretty quick and you only have a few seconds before the round wants to get it's feet back on the ground. So the old Warrent gives a few choice words to the wingnut, and calmy says "well, get your f*c*in faces in the dirt. And into the pit we go ..the Warrent, the wingnut, and I.... Few seconds later the round lands about 30 meters to the front...ka-rump!... dirt and **** everywhere. Needless to say the wingnut got a little slap (chit) for that one. ****ty feeling knowing there's a round inbound on your position.. and there not much you can do. Gives you a whole new apreciation for when the little pixel troops of CM are running through some of those heavy arty bombardments. Sucks to be them I says.
  5. Hey Dan, I went down this road a few months backs and here is what I got from MadMatt "Sorry but you can not manually assemble the files like that. We use a proprietary system for the structure and will NEVER give out info on it. Madmatt" What happened was I was working on a custom map and I had erased it. I managed to have a .cmb file from when I played it once so I figured I might have been able to extract the map file from the .cmb code but that proved to be no easy task. I assumed the map code and movement code are stored seperate but by the hell if I could figure it out. I made another request to BTS to see if they could extract the file and they said it was beyond their capibilities because they were using a third party encryption tool. As for another method of generating battles, I'm not too sure but I thought someone had developed such a tool a while back but I could be wrong.
  6. Been too busy to follow this...but when I check back I see: ...What  ? Not sure how that got twisted but that's not what I meant at all. YankeeDog had it right when he mentioned the screen capture device. Just in case some people were not aware, you can capture pretty much anything that you play on your screen. Example can be those CM movies someone (forget who) made a while back that had a narration and a few action sequences. Another example is the media file that comes with the game. Now I forget how big it is and I cannot check it because I am at work, but I don't recall it being too big. either way, I think a 1 minute clip of an action sequence would be great . All movement menus can be avoided, the battle sub menu can be left out, various display information cut, etc.. it will really be left up to BTS with regards to what they want to show. But the media and promotivity value of such a clip(s) would be benificial to not only the product, but a good way to reward loyal CM fans who have remained through the various pieces of cheese that have been released to date on the mystery that is CMBB.
  7. Hey Cats, Yeah these recent screenshots are the cats-ass but I was wondering if it would be possible for a movie clip of a battle sequence. Surely there must be countless 1 minute battle sequences floating around out there in the world of beta so how about recording one and posting it up somewhere. That would definetly be the Bones-Bones of bones and will maybe quell the need for more information on CM2 (A least for a couple of minutes ). Not sure if this request is made before so fell free to tell me it's already been declined. I ask because 1. Like every other person on this board I want more info...MORE..!!MORE!! MORE!!!!! on CM2 -and- 2. Pending releases of other soon to arrive wargames (a certain all inclusive WW2 FPS) have been accompanied by the release of trailors and battles clips. These clips alone have made me want to buy the game in question and if anything, they would be a good way to attract both current CM fans and soon to be fans to the prospects of the next CM chapter. Anyone else on board with me for this request? Ducimus! SgtSweatHog
  8. ...that being said: Anyone know the release date for CM3? I heard it was the fith and 2/3 quarter of the first half of the next decade. Wonder who's sea mod they're going to use...? Do I smell a "Sea Mod" contest on the horizon?
  9. Cool. I'm going to take the discussion private. Email Inbound.....
  10. Hey troops, I don't want to duplicate my other post so can you guys provide some feedback on a question I just posted to the scenerio forum? I am looking for some help with regards to how the code behind each .cmb file is structured. Thanks
  11. Situation: I spent the last two weeks designing this kick as scenerio. I had the thing completed and somehow when I went to load up another new map, I ( much to my enjoyment    ) over-rode the whole damn thing. But before I did this, I gave it a quick once over in the game level. I booted up the map, played the first three turns, then shut it down. My thoughts and my question: I still have the Autosave copy of the map from that test run. Now I'm a programmer by nature but damned if I can figure it out. From best I can tell this is the header: óÿ and this is the footer: (15 spaces following by a character) but that's about it. I would think I should be albe to extract the map code from this file so I can at least salvage some of that work I did on this puppy. I also assume that each of these files is divided into maps, briefings, units, and then the moves and present battlefield conditions (losses, etc, for each side). So I think I need to extract the map, briefing, units, BUT not the moves. I am unsure however if this is possible. Can anyone help me here? I guess the bottom line here is "Can the map and units can be extracted from the Autosave .cmb file"?
  12. I don't use Engineers that much so bear with me... Does the size of the squad mater in relation to clearing the minefield? What I mean is if I stick a full squad on a mine field, and a split squad on another minefield, would one unit clear the field faster? I am playing my buddy who tends to use mines fields quite effectively so I am looking for "hit and run" engineer op's... the smaller the troops needed the better. ie load them in a fast jeep and skin them up to the mine field under some smoke...
  13. Been away from this game for a while. I seem to remember last year looking forward to having the next installment of this game as a Christmas gift. Now I do not see any referance of when the game will be released..? I tried a search on CMBB but that was pointless (too many hits). So what's the word on when we can our mitts on this game? Danka
  14. Just uploaded this baby to the Scerario Depot: Title: Sub Pen 47 Asault on a German Submarine Pen. The goal of this operation is for the Americians to advance through the mountains and then attack and secure the German submarine base. The German task is one of defense. This battle involves lots of armor, small pockets of infantry, and a few surprizes for both sides. This is an attack on a defensive position so I suggest playing as the Americians first so that the axis positions are unknown. If playing as the allies, you're in for a hard go for the first few rounds. There are reinforcements for both sides so help is not far behind. I've set up the elements with various skill levels based on their importance so there shouldn't be a need to jack-up the experience levels at first. I've played this scenerio too many times to count trying to get it right and I think it's a pretty good match up. This might not be a skill intensive go but there are a lot of targets of oppourtunity to engage so I've always had fun playing either side. 15. Thanks for the info guys. I'l get it uploaded to the site and sent to whoever wanted it by tonight hopefully.
