You know those "Off-Road" ratings vehicles have? No basis in reality. http://www.battlefront.com/community/showthread.php?t=107996 Sorry about sliding the knife in deeper. I'm in one of those moods.

That bug is still around? I sent a save file to a beta tester over a year ago.

Any Plans to Revamp QB AI?
Vanir Ausf B replied to $Pec5's topic in Combat Mission Battle for Normandy
That's a good idea. So good that I'm now surprised they haven't done something like this already. Certainly if they can make 300 QB maps per game (actually more like 80 with several variations of each) a few hundred stock OOB would be relatively trivial. -
Off-Topic: TMA Soviet Infantry

That does seem to settle the issue: the Soviets really did need those watches. -

Well of course. That is why virtually every industrialized nation on Earth today is governed via "the ideology of Stalin" or by national socialism (sometimes referred to as "the ideology of Hitler"), while capitalism has been relegated to the dustbin of history. Oh, wait... -

That is correct as far as we've been told.

Any Plans to Revamp QB AI?
Vanir Ausf B replied to $Pec5's topic in Combat Mission Battle for Normandy
To be fair, the AI QB purchase logic has been crap forever, going back as far as CMBO. In a sense maybe we should be glad for it. If it had worked well they may not have ever given us back the option of picking our own -
Off-Topic: TMA Soviet Infantry

I'm sure there were watches in the Red Army, but perhaps not as many as needed. He did say "we" needed them, not "I". Given the massive casualties I'm sure a lot of watches were lost along with their owners, and maybe manufacturing watches was not a State priority during the war. -
Off-Topic: TMA Soviet Infantry
Vanir Ausf B replied to Apocal's topic in Combat Mission Battle for Normandy
The surrendered men drew nearer. I ordered: "Waffe hinlegen! [Drop your weapons!]" The Germans laid their rifles and submachine-guns on the ground. "Werhat die Uhr? [Who has watches?]" I asked, knowing that the rear-echelon men would snatch them anyway, and it would be better if we took them -- we really needed them. -- Vasiliy Krysov, Panzer Destroyer, pg 89 -

They lacked watches. One of the first things Soviets did when they captured Germans was take all the watches. -
I believe that BFC has said that the order of release is: 1) CMBN Market Garden 2) Bagration 3) Shock Force 2

You only need one key, the most recent one. Did the 2.0 upgrade come with a key? (I don't know if it does since I haven't got it yet). If so that is the only one you need. Otherwise you only need the key that came with the Commonwealth module. You will never need the key for the base CMBN game again.

Mortars and covered arcs
Vanir Ausf B replied to griffin33's topic in Combat Mission Battle for Normandy
I think your memory is playing tricks on you. Target arc and target commands have always been mutually exclusive. I just tried doing this in the game and target always cancels a target arc (I have not upgraded to 2.0 yet so my game is still v1.10). -
I am fairly certain from my own observations that units in C2 regain moral faster than units out of C2. What is not known is if the HQ unit's leadership rating affects the degree of effect on subordinate units. As womble pointed out, some earlier testing of dubious nature suggested that it does not, or at least that if it does it is a much smaller effect than that of the subordinate units' own leader rating.
-
It definitely affects moral. That much at least has been confirmed via testing. And yes, that does seem to overlap function with Motivation. It has also been said that it affects how spotting information is shared, but it's unknown in what way. Does lower leadership cause a delay in the information moving from one unit to the next? Is there a chance of information getting lost? It would probably be possible to test this, but the sharing of spotting information seems to have too small an effect on gameplay for anyone to bother.

Light Rain and more intuitive spotting
Vanir Ausf B replied to MengJiaoRedux's topic in Combat Mission Battle for Normandy
I remember someone testing spotting in fog not to long ago and determining that it only reduced the maximum range of spotting, not the quality. Perhaps rain is different? -
An astounding plan for Battlefront

No idea about the Schreck and the Faust. I'm not aware that they were toned down in CMBN either, aside from not being allowed to fire them from buildings  As for Pz IV vs. Sherman in CMAK: http://www.battlefront.com/community/showthread.php?t=45255 Similar discussions: http://www.battlefront.com/community/showthread.php?t=48048 http://www.battlefront.com/community/showthread.php?t=46238 http://www.battlefront.com/community/showthread.php?t=83798 http://www.battlefront.com/community/showthread.php?t=47806 -
An astounding plan for Battlefront
Vanir Ausf B replied to Georgie's topic in Combat Mission Battle for Normandy
The more likely explanation is that they are still making money off of it. "We're still selling CMx1 games some 9-12 years later, though obviously not many these days." http://www.battlefront.com/community/showpost.php?p=1408168&postcount=36 -
