  1. Like this? (taken one turn later when the radio started working again) Or this? (taken about 7 turns earlier) I tried. I had the German-speaking negotiating team right there. I am confident that I will be cleared by any board of inquiry. Like I said, I think it was the German units behind another line of bocage about 50 meters away.
  2. IIRC, this went on for at least 5 turns before I lost patience and opened fire. The problem was that there was another row of bocage only 50 meters away on the other side of the heavy woods. My opponent had units behind that bocage and I think their proximity is what prevented the white flag.
  3. Prisoners were worth more VP in CMx1, but I have no idea if the same is true in CMx2. I had a US company HQ area firing directly into the AS from a distance of about 2 AS. Perhaps the fire needs to be going through the AS rather than targeted on the ground they are standing on, in which case I may have had better results targeting the AS behind the prisoner. I will keep that in mind next time I catch a spy.
  4. I suppose you never know for sure. People are strange. But given the fact that the "prisoner" was effectively acting as a spy behind my lines with an excellent view of my preparations for the next assault, I feel I was justified. If such a thing had been possible in the real war there would have been a lot fewer surrenders accepted.
  5. I figured it was because he was losing. But I sense you have an alternate theory. Do tell.
  6. This seems to be a recurring theme with his books. http://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listing/0646410342/ref=tmm_pap_new_olp_0?ie=UTF8&condition=new&sr=1-2&qid=1391720434 For $1700 they must be among the greatest books ever written.
  7. IIRC these very early IR systems typically featured one vehicle with an IR spotlight that would illuminate for all the others, which had passive sensors. I have no idea how well they worked in practice.
  8. It's not like in CMx1. It doesn't spread. It isn't clear yet how persistent it is.
  9. I have tried direct small arms fire into the AS. For several turns. No effect. I was in the process of moving my men out of the area so a tank could try high explosive ordnance, but my opponent stopped returning files before I got to that point. *sigh*
  10. Oh, oh, I can answer this one. Prisoners who have surrendered but have not disappeared under the white flag still give spotting information to the other player (at least that is what I have read on the forum; never tested it myself). That can be a problem. I have attempted to shoot a prisoner in a PBEM because of this.
  11. I think the reason Bil is pushing up the east side is because there is no way to get his vehicles through KT3 from where he is at. The road bisecting that forest diagonally can only be accessed on the west side of the forest in the open area he is avoiding, or from the east end of the town, which is where he is heading.

  13. He's not the only one. I had been intending to redo the tank spotting tests first thing as soon as I got CMRT so as to pursue the Mystery of the Blind Jagdpanther. Looks like that will have to wait for CMBN 3.0, and any changes from that must wait until whatever comes after that.
  14. I am one of the 200. The reason I have not reviewed it is because I have not played it... and probably never will. I rarely play scenarios anymore. Mostly I just download them to modify the maps for QB play (via PBEM). But I will say that it is an outstanding map, one of the few good heavily urban maps I have seen. It would be a shame for you not to make any more as you obviously have a talent for it. And thank you
  15. They are enforced via threats and whatever other means of intimidation I can muster. Actually, it's never been an issue. Some of them are negotiable (more like preferences than rules) but some are not, for example, artillery bombardment of the attacker's setup zone. I can post them as soon as I replace the power supply unit on the computer they are stored on. Tomorrow, maybe.
  16. I mostly play with strangers I meet on the internet.
  17. That is interesting. I had recently considered picking up Nipe's Blood, Steel, and Myth: The II.SS-Panzer-Korps and the Road to Prochorowka but passed on it. I'm going to go back and get it and pick up Decision in the Ukraine also.
  18. My understanding is that hit decals are a graphical flourish (and one that I am looking forward to), not something that has any effect on ballistics. It will also be interesting to see how accurately placed they are. The current hit graphics are not reliable (at least not in WEGO).
  19. I have a question that has been bugging me forever, and which may be unrelated to the topic: what does the "A:1" in the UI mean?
  20. This would work fine for single player. It could work for PBEM as well, the only problem being that it requires a significant amount of trust since it is very easy for the player who sets up the game to find out what map was chosen or to rig it so that only one map can be chosen.
  21. I'm a little surprised you didn't take the opportunity of playing as the Soviets to try command push. Then again, seeing how Soviet units do while using "western" tactics is also interesting.
