  1. I think that if you're playing a purchase battle, and you're playing to win, aircraft are too much of a risk. You might spend 10% of your points on airpower, only to find that no aeroplane turns up, or that the plane does turn up but proceeds to trash your tanks. Planes are best suited to scenarios. They can make or break a game, but I prefer to break my own games without the assistance of planes.
  2. I like the 'wego' system best as well. Thats why I hope CM has good graphics in the next engine. As for moving to the general forum, I hope not, this post belongs here please. CM people would be interested in this IMO. </font>
  3. I'm glad you two are enjoying the map so far. The inspiration is actually "The Dambusters", so you were close. I originally designed the scenario for CM:BO about nine months ago but never released it. It was good fun to play on attack vs the Axis AI. I redid it for CM:BB - about 2 days on the map - and that was hard work - and half a day to pick force balance and lay the units out. You have the final version there, so once you're done, let me have your opinions, and I'll make the necessary modifications and release it to The Scenario Depot.
  4. Please read the FAQ, a link to which is in my Sig. This will answer your question.
  5. I spent most of the weekend drinking, reeling from hangovers, and building new CM:BB scenarios - sometimes all three at the same time. Gaylord Frotwit's email keeps bouncing turns back to me, so that is his fault. All other turns will follow now I have sobered up and now my new masterpiece is complete. Ahahahaahahaaha!!!
  6. That sounds like a scenario creation issue to me. You can add as many craters or obstacles as you want in the editor, but it's down to the scenario designer at the end of the day.
  7. Then again, the 'roadblock' could be a dozen trees cut down and stacked across the road, rather than 'a few chests of drawers'. Or it could be several buildings, which have been destroyed in bombing raids, and have collapsed into the street. The 'issue' here seems to be as much your perception of what a 'roadblock' is, as the actual roadblock itself.
  8. His posting style is identical to Veteran Gamer, Headshot and his other monikers. What always amazes me is why anyone would bother to keep coming back time and time again to make inflammatory remarks. Talk about sad.
  9. Here are my moist, pert, glistening updates: The draft of Kneiber Dam has been shipped to its unfortunate victims. Tee heee heeeee! Mike the Wino and I continue to pound each other like a pair of pimps. Becket, you pus monkey. Massive Goat Fellator has not returned any turns since Thursday. I know it's only two days, but I need my "Whuppin' Goodale Arse" fix. At least with the AI you know it sucks because it's programmed to. MikeT continues to beat me like a dusky bathmat. It's lovely. I'm such a bad boy. Yes. Bad. Bad. Oh, yes. So bad. Oh, harder. Harder. Snarker still isn't getting any. My turns are being returned to me with the statement that Snarker is too stupid and has too few limbs to play this game. Harsh, but fair.
  10. MasterGoodale returns about one turn a fortnight when you start to beat him. When, as I am, you toast up every single tank within 5 turns, he throws a major wobbler. Alexey - MasterGoodale is always like this. To see more of him in action, track down the "Cheery Waffle" threads. We don't recommend it. Oh, and read my FAQ (see my sig for the link). It'll tell you everything you need to know.
  11. Hi Cataphract, welcome to the forum. Sharpshooters aren't snipers. As you can see, they have very little ammo and are not very effective against infantry. However, they are very good at spotting the enemy, so one of their most valuable uses is as a scout. However, they have a very accurate rifle, and are popularly used to fire at tank commanders who are not 'buttoned' in their tanks. Tanks which are 'buttoned' take longer to spot their enemies, so 'buttoning' a tank by firing at the commander is an effective way to reduce your tank's ability to respond to its surroundings. As for flamethrowers - head over to The Scenario Depot and download my scenario "Inferno". I can assure you that you will see plenty of flamethrower action. There are three types of mines. 1) Daisy-chain mines. These are stretched across (usually) a road and are a very hasty means of defence. They can be spotted before a tank drives over them removed by soldiers quite easily - keep some squads close to the daisy chain mines and in a couple of turns they will remove them. 2) Anti-personnel mines. These are hidden in the ground, so the only way to spot them is to walk over them. Infantry with demolition charges can use the demo charges to remove the mines, but it takes time. 3) Anti-tank mines. These, again, are hidden, so driving a tank or vehicle over them is the only way to find out where they are. Infantry with demolition charges can also remove these mines. Hope this helps.
  12. Snarker - my turns to you keep getting rejected by your email system. I am threatening, with cheery waffles, my email company to get it fixed. NeverMind - you Moth-eaten, scrotum-sucking whore!!!! :mad I accept your challenge, and you may be assured that our game, during which I shall tear you into tinkly pieces, will be broadcast live and unadulterated here, in our glorious thread. Expect a setup of monumental evilness to be winging your way shortly.  I have a new night-time nightmare which is looking for a pair of pansy-arsed playtesters. Let's hear from some volunteers for Kneiber Dam. Oh, I love it when I'm this evil. Edited because I was evil, but not  enough. [ March 28, 2003, 11:34 AM: Message edited by: Soddball ]
  13. CM:BB has: 14 gazillion armoured vehicles 24 gazillion unit types More detailed armour penetration model Covered arcs Longer time delays for multiple moves. Longer artillery delays for nearly everything. More suppression by nearly everything. It's also about a part of the world that fewer people know about. When I started playing CM:BO,I was familiar with the Normandy landings but I found CM:BB daunting because I was so unfamiliar with war on the Eastern front. CM:BB is harder to play well, there's no doubt in my mind about it.
  14. Sorry Soddy! I was going to add this at the end of this, but what the heck is it exactly?Embarrased, ashamed?Someone with their eyes closed blowing so hard that their face has turned red? I dunno Maybe if you UK'ers could start every post with a "Oh Bugger"...or a "Bloody Hell",it would make it easier ***this was all an attempt at humor, not offence meant. </font>
  15. Check where the guy lives, will you? He's in the UK. Redimpz - CM:BO wasn't originally available for sale in the UK, but you should be able to pick it up in some shops. You can also head online to Amazon where both are for sale. CM:BO can be bought for £11.99 (plus p&p). I recommend CM:BO for starters. It's easier to get into and less daunting for new players. If it makes you feel any better, I had CM:BO for nearly 2 years, and didn't buy any other games in that time. The only games I've bought since CM:BO are CM:BB and Civilisation III. Combat Mission is an evil addiction. Buy it today
  16. This thread has been on page one for the last three days. If you are so myopic and dense as to be unable to read, that's not my problem.
  17. + + + + BREAKING NEWS + + + + MasterGoodale breaks loose, makes dick of self in forum. How can he not miss this thread? Goodale, you chinchilla-fisting buffoon, it's as obvious as the overhang on your monobrow. Words in title: Cheery Waffles Goodale Pick yourself up a clue from the stack in the corner, and get me a turn.
  18. You imbecile. Snarker set up a new thread. This is what happens when you spend most of your social life giving oral pleasure to cheese-helmeted lorry drivers. Where the hell is my turn, cockmunch?
  19. Did Mike say something? I didn't read it because my name wasn't bolded.
